- Video taken from the flight deck of the Blue Angels C-130 Fat Albert during an airshow flight demo performance. Features pre-flight briefing, taxi out, Max performance take off with 45 degree climb, steep 2G turns, negative G's, and a diving landing with maximum breaking. Flown by the first female pilot for the Blue Angels, Katie Higgins.

An all-Marine Corps crew of three officers and five enlisted personnel operate the Lockheed-Martin C-130T Hercules, affectionately known as Fat Albert Airlines. Fat Albert joined the team in 1970 and flies more than 140,000 miles each season. It carries more than 40 maintenance and support personnel, their gear and enough spare parts and communication equipment to complete a successful air show.
Fat Albert cruises at a speed of more than 320 knots (approximately 360 miles per hour) at 27,000 feet. Four Allison turboprop engines, which produce more than 16,000 shaft-horsepower, provide Fat Albert Airlines with the power to land and depart on runways as short as 2,500 feet.

You know, youd think these maneuvers were just for show, but they are actually used to get in and out of a combat area airfield. Had the pleasure of flying in the C-130 on numerous occasions. Its an awesome airframe.

It has to be a dream come true having this remarkable young lady as the FIRST FEMALE pilot of the Blue Angels' 'Fat Albert!' Not only is she incredibly well-trained as a professional in her role as the C-130's lead flyer, she is a beauty as well! This video was a fantastic experience! Katie Higgins definitely has 'the right stuff!' She does our country proud!

Loved being a loadmaster on C-130's in the AirForce. So much fun and hard work to boot. That is flying. Love stick and rudder style flying turn the AP and AT off and lets go flying.
I was at Dyess for a couple of years in aircraft maintenance. The 130 is a great airplane, and tough as nails.
When I was in the NAVY I had the opportunity to take a ride during the Jax, Fl air show. THAT WAS THE GREATEST RIDE EVER! Roller-coasters aint got nutthin' on FAT ALBERT.

I have enjoyed the Blue Angels since being stationed at MCAS Cherry Point. I saw my first air show in 1974 what a thing to see for the first time as a Pfc. The F-4 Fantom was being retired that year and the A-4 Skyhawk was the follow on aircraft. Since those days and up until my retirement in 1993 as a Gunnery Sergeant I have watched in amazement by what these air craft can do and the talent in each air crew. Semper Fi to the Navy's Blue Angels.
Discipline, skill, good looks and a hula turn bank indicator, wow, it just doesn’t get any better. The airplane was pretty cool too!

June 27 17 I was at griffas air force base working and I had the joy of watching her fly and I believe practicing for an air show the next day or that week end. It was unreal. 👍👍

This is AMAZING! The final approach makes me excited that I get to see the Blue Angels at a full airshow this year (Point Mugu) because there's no runway at SF Fleet Week!

That was a great takeoff I was a crew chief C-130e during the Vietnam war done a few of those combat takeoffs. Great job.
I was a flight engineer on the old P-3 Orion which has the same engines and what they say in airshow about the Orion is true those are not Stunts but actual maneuvers, more so they are actual evasion maneuvers from enemy air attack and ground attack evasion maneuvers.

Thanks for sharing this amazing flying! I was a part of the original VR-55 squadron at VR-55 in 1976-77 with the C-9B Skytrain. I now have a new addition on my bucketlist. #Loadmasters make it trim.
I was in VR-55 too, we had these C-130 T models. This one, Fat Albert bu # 164763 used to be called Nola Belle and was the 2nd C 130 that VR-54 got from Lockheed. I worked on that plane for about 3 years. I see the marines made a few changes to it.

Dont know if you are USAF Ret. now or now, but I hope not. As a dad with Daughers, this is so inspiring. LOVE IT.... Your signal is BUSTER....
We got to meet CPT Higgins on Friday (10 April). Great Marine and great person. My youngest son (5 years old) is huge into aircraft because his Grandpa was a Navy P-3 aviator, and she talked to him after the show. I've never seen him blush before that. Also, the landing is what they do to us in Afghanistan to avoid ground fire.

What an Impressive Young Woman is Capt Katie Higgins . Circuit work in a Bus . Don't hate me for that please because it's kinda TRUE . C-130's have been in service a LONG time for a reason . Nobody built anything BETTER yet . And if she is a Blue Angel Pilot it means she is Exemplary .
