What a Shame. Philippine government did nothing to save this naval base from ruins when it actually a deterence to the CCP's ambition. Thanks for sharing. I heard they gonna reopen it.

Just the ship repair facility on the other side of the bay. Not much if it does.

Mayor Gordon and his volunteers did an AMAZING job of protecting the high value infrastructure. Unlike Clark AFB, the base was well protected. The bunkers you see are miles from nowhere, are very robust, and are not a big target for theft or scrappers.

That's a shame they should give an island to reopen the bases there. Emperor Xi built a massive military garrison nextdoor.

Zoom in on Google Earth and youll see they are cleaning up large bunker sections especially on the south end towards the shoreline...

Thank you Sir. My Lolo's farm is being recalled by the Philippine Airforce. It used to be the Airforce base of the USA in Panay. We have not come into agreement of the cost of course it's cheap but the legacy of my late mother and grandparents still there. They said they will make it a runway in preparation for the defense of the islands. I don't live there right now but we have ricefields and ancestral properties that are empty. I would rather donate it to the USA than to them scams in the government. I hope Mt. Pinatubo will not come to live again. It's too close to the USA military base. Thank you for your update.

I was NAS Guard (3rd Platoon), B Company, Marine Barracks, Cubi Point. I'd heard about Separate Guard but NOT Advanced Underwater Weapons Platoon. I was there from 84-86.
