    I have just repaired a battery operated analog Casio watch that has symptoms like yours. But in my case, the "minute" hand was bent so every time it crosses path with the "hour" hand it would stop and get in the way. I thought the gear was jammed or the shaft was locked in place due to corrosion or something that I dismantled the whole watch assembly only to find out about the bent hand, as simple as that. After I straightened out the hand a bit in an angle I assembled it up and finally got it working. Too bad I lost the locking mechanism on the time and date adjust so the settings must be turned internally prior to assembly. But it is working now, thanks to your video tutorial as my reference.

    Nice video! I spent a long time and many days trying to install a seconds hand, only to finally realize that the post had broken off. Used the watch without the seconds hand until yesterday's movement upgrade and seconds hand install. Wish I had seen this video earlier. Thanks!

      Hey sir same problem with my 8215 I installed yesterday. The tip of the second hand post is broken, my fault. Is it repairable?

      @@stalin1015 It seems that I would have had to repair the movement and buy that seconds post part to install which was too difficult and time consuming for me. So I bought a new movement (nh36) for like $35ish USD and now have a nice upgraded hacking/handwinding movement. Then the seconds hand installed properly! I’d suggest you do that if possible! Cheers :)

      @@Tennisfiles thank you for the reply sir. The movement is ok. I did installed it improperly the last time as the second hand sits just outside the hole of the second hand post. Its ok now and working great.

    Thank you for the video! my watch's hour hand only functions correctly when lying flat unmoved, when I pick it up the hour-hand fell freely pointing to the ground. Any helps , advises would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello. Have you done anything on stem shortening?

    • @DIYWatchClub
      @DIYWatchClub  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you mean cutting a crown stem? I don't have a guide on it at the moment, but if you need help on urgently, in short, it's done usually with a watch stem cutter. Measure twice, cut once (with a bit of buffer space), then sand down the extra bit and sand it down flat.

      I can do a guide on it but it'll take some time (huge list of stuffs I want to cover first you know), so stay tuned!

    Pls help. I ordered a brand new nh36 movement and I tried to assemble the watch just earlier. My problem is after I installed the second hand, the movement stopped and it doesnt work. But when I remove the second hand, the machine runs again. This is what happens everytime I try to install and uninstall the second hand. And i know the hr and minute hand is ok because the minute time is changing. What may be the cause of movement stopping everytime I try to install the second hand? Could the problem the same as what you discussed sir? A second hand inserted improperly just outside the second hand post? this is my first time trying to build my own mechanical watch. Thank you for the reply sir.

      Hey appreciate the question. It's a common problem for the first time DIYers. It's hard to guess without seeing how you do it, but most probably it is the second hand being installed just outside the second hand post. I'd recommend reviewing this particular section of our second hand installation guide: th-cam.com/video/52oz1bgpLtA/w-d-xo.html . Better still, you can go through the entire second hand installation guide to learn the proper practice with hand installation. Good luck!

      @@DIYWatchClub sir thank you for your video. It really helped me have an idea of the problem. And the issue is exactly what you discussed. Now its ok and runs really good.
