- Speedrunning Bloons Tower Defense is a complete nostalgia trip. The game used to be so much simpler but it still makes for a really cool speedrun. It is difficult to execute the speedrun perfectly, but makes for a fun experience to try. It's definitely going to be an interesting trip through memory lane while doing speedruns of all the Bloons TD games.

4:30 Oh, that takes me back. I've played Bloons Tower Defense 1 - 5, but mainly loved 4 and played a lot of 5. I even really liked Bloons pop 3 (assuming that was even made by the same people). I love that sound effect. Finally, ASMR I can get behind. 😊

NOSTALGIA IS REAL. I remember using a pirate aop store to dosnload this as a little kid and I loved it. I played this everytime my mok took out the tablet snd let me play.

I don't know if this still works, but back in the day you could hit tab until it highlighted upgrades and hold down enter to purchase many stacks of the same upgrade. It used to make tack towers shoot so fast you would just see a wall of tacks. If it works it might be a speedrun strat

I believe the technique used in the glitched run was placing a large amount spike towers on top of one another. The reason the money goes down is due to it basically going into debt.

Yeah I remember you could hit tab until you have the tack speed upgrade selected then just hold enter and it will keep buying it and increasing it even if you don't have enough money, but it still takes the money so it goes negative.
A pro strat is is to adjust the targeting of the towers near the beginning and make them target the strongest balloons

For the glitch it’s just hold spammming the upgrade, making your money negative even though it’s multiple of the same upgrade

For a harder challenge, try speedrunning BTD 2 on hard mode. It's very difficult, as it involves glue, which makes the run slower. Trying to optimise for speed is challenging.

I think the glitch that causes the money to count down is because he bought more tack shooters than he could afford, making is money go into the negative. the hud can't display the minus sign, so it looks like it's positive

My strategy is to use dart monkeys in corners and upgrade sharpness so if they shoot in a straight line it pops a lot of ballons
My favorite tower defense games are Vector TD, Bloons TD and Pokémon TD

The glitch is that you can buy an upgrade multiple times even when you can't afford it. So you end up getting super fast attack speed but losing thousands of money. I forget how you do the glitch though.

i know this is kinda dumb to say 4 months later, but there are actually Bloons, just as itself, and then Bloons Tower Defense.
the original bloons was just you playing as a monkey doing skillshots to pop balloons with limited darts in a bunch of scenarios

Basically
By pressing tab you can cycle through the different options in the game INCLUDING upgrades
But there's a glitch where by doing this, if you hold enter you will endlessly buy the same upgrade
This makes your money go negative (hence why it goes down and then up)
And if used with the firing speed upgrade on the tack...results in the hypersonic tack shooter!
I've never played BTD, I bought one on a whim when I saw you speedrun but I still haven't played it

I also played a lot of Bloons 5 first, but only because it was unblocked in school on it's website
U need to upgrade your towers especially for razors and for rockets. And the ice thing comes in clutch if u place them in the beginning

Explanation of the glitch:
The tack shooter has a "faster shooting" upgrade. When you place down a tack shooter, and can afford that upgrade, Press "tab" until it highlights that upgrade. Then simply press and hold "enter" for as long as you want. It will be very fast. The "glitched" tack shooter can beat the entire game by itself when placed in the right place. You can actually do the glitch right at the start because you can afford it. As you hold down enter, you might realize that your money is actually going up, even though you are buying an infinite amount of upgrades. This is because the variable in which the code stores the money number is an unsigned type. (IDK if it's an integer or long int.) How I see it, it's just a negative number without the negative sign. So when you buy all those upgrades, your money is actually going down, even if it looks like it goes up. That also explains why when you pop blooms from then on, the number seems to go down. When it hits 0, it goes up again because now its just positive. This "hyperspeed tack shooter" works for btd1, even on flashpont. (Idk about other versions.) However, I have no idea how he put the tack shooter in the track.
I mentioned "unsigned type" variable, and if you want to know more, here is what it means (it might be confusing).
Everything in a computer is stored in binary. That means just zeroes and ones. It's base 2. To count in binary, just count like normal, but skip every number that has a digit other than 0 or 1. 0 is 0, 1 is 1, 10 is 2, 11 is 3, 100 is 4, etc. Each digit is called a "bit". These bits are in sections of 8. Each section is a "byte". Different coding languages have different data types, but I know that in C, I believe the shortest is a "char", which holds 1 byte. By the way, these "data types" are types of variables, which are pieces of data the program can create, change/edit, and get the value. There are I believe 3 main integer data types, "Short int", the "int", and the "long int". (int is integer). "Short int" is the shortest, and holds 2 bytes in C. Int holds 4, and long int holds 8. The number is stored in binary. However, the left-most digit of the binary number isn't used as another digit to store the number in, it's used to store whether the number is positive or negative. However, you can make the variable "unsigned", which allows the code to use that extra digit for more room to store the value. Since the developers Ninja Kiwi didn't expect people to have a negative amount of money and go in debt, they made it unsigned, which is normally recommended if you don't want the variable to be negative. This allowed them to use that last digit to store even larger numbers, since during the later rounds earning money becomes pretty easy. You might go past the amount of bits provided in a signed variable, and cause an overload and possibly and error. Of course, using extra space is not recommended to coders, it's worth it having just that extra bit that doubles the possible value, than to move up an entire data type and use up a few more bytes (from "short int" -> "int" or from "int" -> "long int").
