Chermerkin should have been a power lifter he had no form for olympic weightlifting just incredible strength to win olympic and world titles. No other olympic lifter in history cleaned a weight with the bar one or two inches off his chest neck area.
He had some kind of surgery after 1996 as I heard, it didn't allow him to put the bar on the shoulders. At the beginning of his career (and when his weight wasn't that big) his form was better
