    Mark, this interview had slipped by me for two months. Eric was an enlightening, perceptive, and entertaining interview. The thoughts and beliefs that he and I share just added to his interesting history. In a sense, he gave your fantastic interviewing skills a rest because of his thoroughness and continuity in storytelling. A VERY good conversation.

      Jack,
      With all do respect this was just an opinion of mine one one disturbing trend in American society. Again just my view. Mark and I both love the US and I have been a taken part the the democratic process by voting all my life. The dialogue of two men and their concerns and hoping for better society. I did not check my freedom of speech upon choosing to live in the Philippines. Yes, it is the greatest system humanity has ever had, but if we are critical about things we still needed to change we would not be doing our society the good service. Martin Luther King, while pointing out the problems and unfairness in the American system was not bashing America. He was trying to make a better country for all of us, and to live up to the ideals of justice and freedom for all.
      He made us all better by making us look in the mirror and making changes to make it a better country and more just for everyone.

    Great interview. Religion plays a dominant role in the Philippines. Family Values is very important in the Philippine Culture. . When foreigners complaint about families active role to their wives role is difficult. This can be solve with being open but foreigners entering another Culture and demand is very problematic. Mostly Americans want their wives detached from the families. It’s extremely difficult for a wife as after religion it’s the families that molded her personality. Majority of Filipinos abroad wants to go home upon retirement. Elderly’s here are important humans who molded the family values and the Gratitude/ Respect/ Values goes along with it. Families have a heavy responsibility towards the elderly taking care of them from eldest to the young age families has to,look/ care for the elderly family. The reason the Government have given too many privileges to the elderly, their last moment on earth.
    It’s sad in America family values disappeared and taken over by the Wall Street and “Corporate America” took over the government the time of Reaganomic. Great interview. Thanks in sharing.

    Hi Mark. You have a truly fascinating and far-ranging interview with Eric. God bless him and his wife, and may they have a long, happy life together. As an American expat with a deep faith in God living in Davao with my fabulous Filipina wife whose faith is equally deep and essential, I enjoyed hearing from Eric because of his deep faith too. I could comment on many things in the conversation, but let me note something about your title for the conversation--"God is on His Side!" During the Civil War, both the Union and the Confederacy claimed God was on their side. However, President Abraham Lincoln had a different view. He said, "It's not a matter of whose side God is on. Rather, what's important is whether you are on God's side." Think about it with Eric. I think it would be better to say that Eric is on God's side. Thanks for a great discussion.

      @jamestodd1419 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree with you Robert that Erick and Lulu are a blessing. Also, Lincoln was correct during the Civil War when both sides were claiming God was on their side. People too often want to claim God's backing, especially in war or conflict. We humans keep getting things backward. How we say things and what we say are so important. @@user-kp4fh2qj5i
