John 15:26 NKJV this episode is testifying Jesus Christ and no other names. This shows who has the Spirit of Truth.
Dear Fr. Oliver Fernandes, peace be with you. I call you Father because the Catholic Church teaches that once a priest always a priest in the eyes of God. Once a man chooses to become a priest of the church, especially the Catholic church, he must remain his vocation for the rest of his life. There is no divorce for a Catholic Priest. That is why a person who believes he has a calling should go through a rigorous process of discernment. The life of a priest or any minister is frought with many challenges and loneliness is one of them. Perhaps you were not aware of that. After celebrating a grand feast mass with thousands of people in attendance the priest has the spotlight. But as soon as the celebrations are over, everybody goes to their homes and the priest if left alone or sometimes a young priest is left with his grumpy old Parish priest. This is normal for a diocesan priest. If you wanted a more active ministry, perhaps a missionary order would have been more suitable. As a youngster, I too had felt a calling which never materialized. At the time, diocesan priesthood was thr LAST option on my mind because of the exact reasons you mentioned. I did not want to be stuck in the routine of some village Church, super comfortable and stagnant. My choices were either Jesuits(because I loved academics) or the Redemptorists, becuase I wanted to preach the Word in missions. I noticed that your conversion happened at a C A T H O L I C Retreat center in Potta, Kerala. This is where you were set on FIRE 🔥 by the Holy Spirit. Why did you not go back to those fathers with whom you were so impressed and inspired by and share your problems? They could have counseled you, guided you and set you in the right direction. If priesthood was not for you, they would have told you. These are annointed and experienced priests who have been preaching the untained, unadulterated word of God for decades. They would have surely helped you. You knew from the beginning that a Catholic priest cannot marry. Of course you felt lonely in seminary. Every seminarian does. No GIRLS and your hormones are raging. Not easy. Celibacy is impossible without the help of the Holy Spirit. While you were still in the seminary you could have sought counseling and tried to discern if this path was right for you. "Lok kitem mhunttolo"(what will people say). People will talk no matter what you do. People hailed Jesus as king on Passion Sunday and on Good Friday they crucified him. When making such an important decision, what people will say should have been the last of your considerations. But it is understandable in our society. The stigma. Finally, you seem to have regrets about having preached too much about sin and not enough about grace and mercy. Both are important. Preaching on SIN is important because Jesus did and the apostles did, especially Paul. The Catholic Church is not against divine mercy and grace. Ive heard many priests preaching on these topics. One need not leave the church to preach on grace. But I don't know your specific situation. Those who exclusively preach grace and downplay SIN are also not being faithful to the WORD of God which says, "Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people-none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God." (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). We cannot take grace for granted and sin with impunity. Somebody needs to point out our sin. The greatest sign of mercy and grace in the Catholic Church are the SACRAMENTS, and prime among them the EUCHARIST where abundance of grace flows. Sad to know you had to give that up to preach "grace and mercy and precious blood". Jesus said, "Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood you shall have no life in you" And further, "those who eat my flesh and drink my blood shall have eternal life and I shall raise them on the last day." (John 6:53-54). I am sure you not know of all the eucharistic miracles that have taken place over the centuries and still do. Maybe the next one would have taken place at your hands at the altar. And what's the problem with Mother Mary and the Saints? Who is the holiest person after the Holy Trinity? It is Mary. Jesus gave us Mary as an intercessor. "Do what He tells you" she told the people at the wedding at Cana. She notices what is lacking in our spiritual lives and intercedes for us with her Son, just as Christ intercedes for us with His Father in heaven. That's her role. The queen mother plays an important role in a earthly Kingdom. Mary does that in heaven. Through her we have special access to her Son, like the troubled family in Cana did. We honor Mary for that reason. Jesus told John "Behold your mother". John represented each of us. She is not a chocolate wrapper that we dispose off after eating the chocolate (Jesus). She takes no glory away from Christ. She gives Him more glory by working alongside Jesus to bring about the kingdom of God. And the Saints? What's wrong with them? These are our heroes. Olympic gold medalists in the Spiritual realm. They "fought the good fight and won the race" and they BORE ABUNDANT FRUIT. Everyone needs a HERO to follow and inspire. The Saints are our heroes. Many of them were priests like you were. Did you study about the lives of Saints in the seminary? If not, the church authorities failed you. Every seminarian needs to study the lives of the Saints. If you did, you would never leave the company of such extraordinary spiritual champions. Pope John Paul II, St. Francis Xavier, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, St. Padre Pio and Sanit Jose Vaz, a fellow Goan who preached the WORD in dangerous circumstances like you wanted the freedom to do. Such a great man wrote a letter of servitude to Mother Mary and commended himself to her before going on his mission. Was he a fool? Were all the great, intelligent and holy men and women of the Catholic Church fools? Are all the people returning back to the Catholic faith after being Pastors and Theologeons of other churches fools? Having said all of this, I bless you Father and I pray that the Holy Spirit guides your path. Don't burn bridges. One day you may want to come back home. Sometimes time away from something helps us appreciate it more. Romans 8:28 says God works all things for good to those who love God. You seem to be a good man and love the Lord. He will use you no matter where you are if you allow Him. Focus on saving people and as much as possible work towards unifying the body of Christ. That's the desire and prayer of Jesus, "that they all may be one as you [Father] and I are one." (John 17:21). The church needs to learn from your story. We failed you as a church and as a community. But remember, every church has its faults. We are all weak. But in our weakness Christ's strength is perfected. Please listen or read the testimonies of Rev. Scott Hahn and Jeff Cavens if you have the time. God bless you. I shall pray for you everyday and dedicate a decade of the rosary for you. It is a powerful and miraculous prayer becuase it meditates on the key moments in the Life of Christ and it is a noose around the neck of Satan that "prowls about the world for the ruin of souls" and to divide and conquer the church. I'm a faithful member of the Catholic church which is the only true Church of our LORD and saviour JESUS CHRIST, and will be for life. Romans 16:17 I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. 2 Timothy 4:3-4 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. Yes, Sis. Berta. I remember the days when you'll were in the word and the colva fama event was the next thing and how you'll overcame. You and your husband, Menino stood firm for the Gospel. Those were difficult times for you'll and I know you'll must have gone through lots of criticisms and you'll were treated as outcast for following Jesus in Spirit and truth but you'll stood firm. And many followed after your example, some from your village also later came to the Lord because you'll stood firm in the time of persecution. Oliver was zealous in preaching Jesus Christ through retreats and healing services. But the testimony he gives now is according to his own whims and fancies, the way it suits him now. HE wanted popularity like Benny Hinn and other pastors and thats the reason he left his priesthood. Benny Hinn once said in his video that the miracles that happen in the holy eucharistic celebration at catholic church are marvelous. Even Jesus was not accepted as the son of God by the Jewish....and his tiatrist Rosario de benaulim....what is he trying to prove....if we intercede through Moyher Mary and saints, we will go to hell? Now that we have internet and information easily accessible we should not blame the church. The church had to go through a lot of persecution since the beginning.. 😔THE SACRED WHO MISSED😔 The parishioner of a small village arrived in church encouraged and motivated to celebrate another evening mass, but the time has passed and the village has not arrived. After 15 minutes delay three children came in, after 20 minutes two young men came in. So the priest decided to start the mass with the five brothers. During the mass, a couple walked in and sat on the last benches of the church. While the priest was preaching and explaining the Gospel, another gentleman came in, half dirty, with a rope in his hand. After all, that night I considered a night of failure was a very productive night. MORAL OF THE STORY Exercise your vocation (work/mission) with dedication and zeal regardless of the number of participants. @@RDBenaulim Righty said and that is what we are all Chosen to do irrespective of our status in the society. We cannot expect healings to occur instantaneously. It takes a lot of prayers and meditation for it to happen. Just because one is a good orator does not mean that healings or the preachings will be effective. Let us say being a priest gives a person a lot of time to meditate and pray . We live in a time of instant coffee, instant tea, instant miracles to happen and some of the priests do think that they are not effective. Like in the anecdote I posted over long periods of time it may be realized and that is why it is said that patience is the mother of all virtues.

@@RDBenaulim Sorry to say that even the Apostles complained to Jesus that they could not perform miracles like he could and Jesus scolded them saying that they were men of little faith. Obviously if a person does not believe that Jesus is present in the same Eucharist or the Blessed Sacrament means he is a person of little faith and therefore he will never be able preach the teachings of Christ or perform healings or miracles.

Bible says Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist when He was 30years old not when He was a baby. Cause as a Baby Holy Spirit cannot teach you the Word only when you come to an understanding age. You say we receive Holy Spirit so why do we have sacrament of confirmation. What is the need when we receive Holy Spirit at the time of baptism. Dear Menino Fernandes, FYI, the Bible does not forbid priest to remain unmarried, on the contrary, it says that priests and bishops must have only one wife. Check 1st Timothy 3:2. Also it was pope Gregory VII who introduced the doctrine of celibacy which forbade priests and popes to get married. Bro Oliver was shaky with his priestly life, he said He was feeling lonely and was not happy with his vocation and was confused in his life, he was disparate and was looking for the short cut life, and he founded here. in his priestly life he was not knowing what is mean by worship , devotion, and veneration. whoever do the will of God we venerate them ,mother Mary and saints did the will of God. We see Jesus was with his parents till his age of 30, obeying his parents helping them in household work his parents. His ministry started after that as per Abba father's will, We celebrate Christmas (birth of Jesus) on 25th December, when do you people celebrate the Birth of Jesus. ? the date is not mentioned in Bible.
Holy Spirit is always with us. We have to activate the Holy Spirit. We do not experience any emptiness when we accept Jesus. Father you also have a mother. Do you respect your mother? Dear Fr. Oliver Fernandes, peace be with you. I call you Father because the Catholic Church teaches that once a priest always a priest in the eyes of God. Once a man chooses to become a priest of the church, especially the Catholic church, he must remain his vocation for the rest of his life. There is no divorce for a Catholic Priest. That is why a person who believes he has a calling should go through a rigorous process of discernment. The life of a priest or any minister is frought with many challenges and loneliness is one of them. Perhaps you were not aware of that. After celebrating a grand feast mass with thousands of people in attendance the priest has the spotlight. But as soon as the celebrations are over, everybody goes to their homes and the priest if left alone or sometimes a young priest is left with his grumpy old Parish priest. This is normal for a diocesan priest. If you wanted a more active ministry, perhaps a missionary order would have been more suitable. As a youngster, I too had felt a calling which never materialized. At the time, diocesan priesthood was thr LAST option on my mind because of the exact reasons you mentioned. I did not want to be stuck in the routine of some village Church, super comfortable and stagnant. My choices were either Jesuits(because I loved academics) or the Redemptorists, becuase I wanted to preach the Word in missions.
I noticed that your conversion happened at a C A T H O L I C Retreat center in Potta, Kerala. This is where you were set on FIRE 🔥 by the Holy Spirit. Why did you not go back to those fathers with whom you were so impressed and inspired by and share your problems? They could have counseled you, guided you and set you in the right direction. If priesthood was not for you, they would have told you. These are annointed and experienced priests who have been preaching the untained, unadulterated word of God for decades. They would have surely helped you.
You knew from the beginning that a Catholic priest cannot marry. Of course you felt lonely in seminary. Every seminarian does. No GIRLS and your hormones are raging. Not easy. Celibacy is impossible without the help of the Holy Spirit. While you were still in the seminary you could have sought counseling and tried to discern if this path was right for you. When making such an important decision, what people will say should have been the last of your considerations. But it is understandable in our society. The stigma.
Finally, you seem to have regrets about having preached too much about sin and not enough about grace and mercy. Both are important. Preaching on SIN is important because Jesus did and the apostles did, especially Paul. The Catholic Church is not against divine mercy and grace. Ive heard many priests preaching on these topics. One need not leave the church to preach on grace. But I don't know your specific situation. Those who exclusively preach grace and downplay SIN are also not being faithful to the WORD of God which says, "Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people-none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God." (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). We cannot take grace for granted and sin with impunity. Somebody needs to point out our sin. The greatest sign of mercy and grace in the Catholic Church are the SACRAMENTS, and prime among them the EUCHARIST where abundance of grace flows. Sad to know you had to give that up to preach "grace and mercy and precious blood". Jesus said, "Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood you shall have no life in you" And further, "those who eat my flesh and drink my blood shall have eternal life and I shall raise them on the last day." (John 6:53-54). I am sure you not know of all the eucharistic miracles that have taken place over the centuries and still do. Maybe the next one would have taken place at your hands at the altar.
And what's the problem with Mother Mary and the Saints? Who is the holiest person after the Holy Trinity? It is Mary. Jesus gave us Mary as an intercessor. "Do what He tells you" she told the people at the wedding at Cana. She notices what is lacking in our spiritual lives and intercedes for us with her Son, just as Christ intercedes for us with His Father in heaven. That's her role. The queen mother plays an important role in a earthly Kingdom. Mary does that in heaven. Through her we have special access to her Son, like the troubled family in Cana did. We honor Mary for that reason. Jesus told John "Behold your mother". John represented each of us. She is not a chocolate wrapper that we dispose off after eating the chocolate (Jesus). She takes no glory away from Christ. She gives Him more glory by working alongside Jesus to bring about the kingdom of God.
And the Saints? What's wrong with them? These are our heroes. Olympic gold medalists in the Spiritual realm. They "fought the good fight and won the race" and they BORE ABUNDANT FRUIT. Everyone needs a HERO to follow and inspire. The Saints are our heroes. Many of them were priests like you were. Did you study about the lives of Saints in the seminary? If not, the church authorities failed you. Every seminarian needs to study the lives of the Saints. If you did, you would never leave the company of such extraordinary spiritual champions. Pope John Paul II, St. Francis Xavier, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, St. Padre Pio and Sanit Jose Vaz, a fellow Goan who preached the WORD in dangerous circumstances like you wanted the freedom to do. Such a great man wrote a letter of servitude to Mother Mary and commended himself to her before going on his mission. Was he a fool? Were all the great, intelligent and holy men and women of the Catholic Church fools? Are all the people returning back to the Catholic faith after being Pastors and Theologeons of other churches fools?
Having said all of this, I bless you Father and I pray that the Holy Spirit guides your path. Don't burn bridges. One day you may want to come back home. Sometimes time away from something helps us appreciate it more.
Romans 8:28 says God works all things for good to those who love God. You seem to be a good man and love the Lord. He will use you no matter where you are if you allow Him. Focus on saving people and as much as possible work towards unifying the body of Christ. That's the desire and prayer of Jesus, "that they all may be one as you [Father] and I are one." (John 17:21). The church needs to learn from your story. We failed you as a church and as a community. But remember, every church has its faults. We are all weak. But in our weakness Christ's strength is perfected. Please listen or read the testimonies of Rev. Scott Hahn and Jeff Cavens if you have the time. God bless you. Now that we have internet and information easily accessible we should not blame the church. The church had to go through a lot of persecution since the beginning.. 😔THE SACRED WHO MISSED😔
The parishioner of a small village arrived in church encouraged and motivated to celebrate another evening mass, but the time has passed and the village has not arrived. After 15 minutes delay three children came in, after 20 minutes two young men came in. So the priest decided to start the mass with the five brothers. During the mass, a couple walked in and sat on the last benches of the church.
While the priest was preaching and explaining the Gospel, another gentleman came in, half dirty, with a rope in his hand. Disappointed and not understanding the cause of the weak participation of the faithful, the priest celebrated the Mass with love and preached with enthusiasm and zeal.
On his way home he was robbed and beaten by two thieves who took his poster containing his Bible and other valuables. Arrived in canonics, healing the wounds, described that day as:
The saddest day of my life, a failure of my ministry and the most fruitful day of my career; but... no matter what, I do all things with God and for Him.
After five years, the priest decided to share this story with the church parishioners. When he finished telling the story, a couple of hangers in that parish stopped him and said: “Father, the couple in the story that sat at the bottom was us. We were on the verge of separation due to various problems and disagreements in our house. That night we finally decided to divorce, but first we decided to come to church to leave our wedding faiths and then we each went our own way. In the meantime, we concluded the separation after listening to his homecoming that very night. Therefore, today we are here with the house and family restored”.
As the couple spoke, one of the most successful business men who helped support that church greeted him, asking him to speak and giving him the opportunity he said, “Father, I am the man who came in half dirty with a rope in my hand. I was on the brink of failure, lost in drugs, my wife and my children had left home because of my aggression. I tried to kill myself that night but the rope broke so I went out and bought another one. When I came out I saw the church open, I decided to come in even though I was very dirty and with a rope in my hand. That night her homecoming stole my heart and left me with the desire to live. Today I am drug free, my family came home and I became the biggest businessman in the city."
At the entrance door of the sacrest, the deacon shouted: “Father, I was one of those thieves who stole it. The other died the same night as we were carrying out the second robbery. There was a Bible in her suitcase. I read this every time I wake up in the morning. After reading so much, I decided to attend this church”.
The Father was shocked and began to weep along with the faithful. After all, that night I considered a night of failure was a very productive night.

Exercise your vocation (work/mission) with dedication and zeal regardless of the number of participants.
Give them your best everyday, because everyday you are a good tool in someone's life.

It takes a lot of prayers and meditation for it to happen. Just because one is a good orator does not mean that healings or the preachings will be effective. Let us say being a priest gives a person a lot of time to meditate and pray . We live in a time of instant coffee, instant tea, instant miracles to happen and some of the priests do think that they are not effective. Like in the anecdote I posted over long periods of time it may be realized and that is why it is said that patience is the mother of all virtues.

@@RDBenaulim Sorry to say that even the Apostles complained to Jesus that they could not perform miracles like he could and Jesus scolded them saying that they were men of little faith. Obviously if a person does not believe that Jesus is present in the same Eucharist or the Blessed Sacrament means he is a person of little faith and therefore he will never be able preach the teachings of Christ or perform healings or miracles.

Dear Menino Fernandes, FYI, the Bible does not forbid priest to remain unmarried, on the contrary, it says that priests and bishops must have only one wife. Check 1st Timothy 3:2. Also it was pope Gregory VII who introduced the doctrine of celibacy which forbade priests and popes to get married. Bro Oliver was shaky with his priestly life, he said He was feeling lonely and was not happy with his vocation and was confused in his life, he was disparate and was looking for the short cut life, and he founded here. in his priestly life he was not knowing what is mean by worship , devotion, and veneration. whoever do the will of God we venerate them ,mother Mary and saints did the will of God. We see Jesus was with his parents till his age of 30, obeying his parents helping them in household work his parents. His ministry started after that as per Abba father's will, We celebrate Christmas (birth of Jesus) on 25th December, when do you people celebrate the Birth of Jesus. ? the date is not mentioned in Bible.

Holy Spirit is always with us. We have to activate the Holy Spirit. We do not experience any emptiness when we accept Jesus. Father you also have a mother. Do you respect your mother?
