Why do we watch people do terrible things? What is so captivating about watching a person become a dictator, a killer, a monster corrupted by power? Do these characters reveal something hidden inside us? A raw, animal instinct?
Werner Herzog’s 1972 cult classic "Aguirre, the Wrath of God" explores these questions. The film is based on the harrowing journey of Spanish conquistadors seeking El Dorado in 16th-century South America. As the lead character Aguirre spirals into madness, his descent is both horrifying and mesmerizing, embodying the seductive nature of power and its corrupting influence.

I had to stop a few minutes in because I’ve never seen this movie, and the intro hooked me and made me wanna watch it lol, so I’m gonna revisit this soon. In the meantime, nice structure and editing =]

All of Herzog’s films, both feature and short, are worth seeing. His book, “Every Man for Himself and God Against All: A Memoir,” is a must to understand his amazing life and genius.

Herzog is to Kinski like Joker is to Harley Quinn, so they both had a non-good chemistry on the set in spite of the five movies they did together.

whilst hitch hicking back to england i stopped off at a cafe in calais before the ferry arrived klaus was sat at the bar and ispoke to him briefly , thats my only claim to fame. it was 1984 by the way.
