The first time I had a migraine I thought I was going to die. Turns out it was a stroke, at 24 y.o. the only symptom was headache and then half an hour later right arm stopped working. Got lucky my neighbor came back from work (the whole thing was happening around midnight) and called an ambulance for me. Even though NL does sound crazy when he says he checks if it's a stroke - I almost died because the first thought I had is that can sleep through the headache.
Ok, I'm a doctor with and an opthalmology specialist. What NL described is a photopsia, which could be a symptom of posterior vitreous detachment. Which is most of the times harmless, but it could cause lesions on the retina and end up on a retinal detachment. NL probably has myopia also, which is a risk factor for all of these. Anyways, he should go to an ophthalmologist and get a full retinal exam. Migraine is probably the cause but man, I've seen a lot of young man lose full vision of one eye that I always recommend frequent checkups
I used to get migraines like every two weeks back in high school in like 2011, which basically lasted like 3 years. Then over the last 6 years they've basically slowed down to once a year. I don't really mind people who underestimate how bad migraines are, but I do think its annoying how many people use the word migraine when they just mean "a kinda bad headache." I've had bad headaches they will never compare to just how awful migraines are lmao.
Ryan had an Ocular migraine. I started having these when I had a bright background(open windows) against the backdrop of my monitors. My brain started having issues reconciling foreground/background and my vision basically looked like a kaleidoscope in the area where the focus broke.
My migraines take me out for the rest of the day. If I take my meds they usually calm down after two to three hours, but I couldn't imagine going to work or doing something like that after.
That migraine aura is called scintillating scotoma. Been having migraines with aura around 10 years now. I get the samw aura along with numbness in one side of my face and arm.
This just happened to me 4 days ago. Couldnt even see where my mouse was on my monitor then a half hour later the migrane hit. I then proceeded to puke 11 times in the next 5 hours. The first thing google gave me was im possibly having a stroke.
I had a nearly identical experience with my first migraine, except I was in 7th grade History taking an exam. The aura began, I was confused. Soon I was nearly blind, and I asked to go use the bathroom. Then my vision returned just as the pain started. I can just take some ibuprofen or naproxen and I'll be fine, I don't get migraines nearly as bad as some others, but I sure felt like my life was ending in that classroom
I know that it's probably not likely but the sparkling vision can be a detached or damaged retina which I'm at risk for, my optometrist basically tells me every time I visit if I ever see sparkling in the corner or my vision or flashing lights to come imminently for a checkup so hopefully Mr Eggman gets a checkup because you never know. Also reminds me I'm overdue for my checkup.
I had Auras / migraines happen all the time in year 7 and they'd always follow with a headache and me violently vomiting. Then I focused on staying hydrated and it's been chill ever since
When he was talking about his vision it reminded me of the time in class, where parts of my vision were just missing. It was like in Everything Everywhere All At Once where it looked like the lens was broken, it was one of the shots where her face was the center of the screen. Anyways, in class i was freaking out inside and I looked down at a piece of paper and would use the negative space of my vision to draw out what I couldn’t see. Then i went to the clinic and was sent home, after that i just threw up, went to bed, and felt perfectly fine after.
Oh my god the part where NL left to the restroom and he comes back to the entire restaurant on lock down and pointing guns at him had me CRYING "BALD BASTARD!!" 😂
Pretty sure the small chest pain he's talking about is an anxiety symptom. It's what happens when your adrenal gland is doing overtime: your intercostal muscles tense up and it hurts. Annoying but largely harmless.
The mental image of him raising his arms and smiling/frowning in front of a mirror because of a migraine is quite possibly one of the funniest things I've ever imagined.
He is lucky the migraine only lasted a few hours. Mine are a whole day. Normally they grew worse from morning to night and i wake up okay but last time it started before bed, got worse during the night and i woke up with peak migraine... Lasted about 8 hours after that, but i think i prefer having the worst when im asleep lol. My right eye also just gets so fking blurry and tales a few days to go. I chug caffeine during them tho. By far the best pain killer for me has been monster energy. One zvery 8 hours.
I love how he says “I gotta go to work” like he’s commuting to an office and not just walking into the next room to play video games
Lol he loves to play pretend like his job is real
commute was brutal today, there was a toddler blocking the hallway
He do be working more AND better than me at my real job
commute was really bad today, got stuck spitting into the toilet for 2 hours

Omg me too! Happened to me twice at age 22 and 24 but I was otherwise healthy :/ Glad you recovered!

Yup the vision thing is actually called an Aura and it's very annoying and the precursor for a migraine headache

NL as professor X is kinda fitting, we're all just mutants spread around the world trying to find a place to fit in.
