For anyone who's animation transitions are very choppy, on the top of Unity go to Edit > Project Settings > Input Manager > and in both Horizontal and Vertical press the little arrow to expand the settings, and make sure Snap is turned off
@@gamedevel22 alright figured it out. i was looking at the video wrong. i didnt realize the "parameter" part by the Animator window to set first with my run, idle, jump animation. i had to hit + and add it in there manually. now i can see where you got to click "true" and i can see my run text in the "conditions' window to the right. what it was in this video here i started watching first of yours you didnt show how you had to type in the animation names for the parameters. thats what threw me off haha. but this is still a great video. thanks
Why GetComponentInParent()? Since you assigned the script as a behaviour component to the player character, would it not suffice to just GetComponent()?
The script is assigned to the NefNefRig gameobject together with the Animator but the Rigidbody2D component is assigned to the parent NefNef gameobject. This is because I personally like to keep the Rigidbody separated from any animation happening..so I always have the Rigidbody on a parent gameobject and all of the other scripts and animation to a child gameobject assigned. Hope this explanation helps you out!
