- I met up with Sonnet from Sonnet's Garden Blooms at the CreativeCon conference and we each thrifted 5 items that we would upcycle into decor that fit our styles. Check out her video in the link below. In this video I use milk paint, DIY Cottage Color paint and IOD transfers to change these thrifted items into things I would sell in my vendor booth for a profit. I love being able to find someone else's trash and make it more "my style" to sell for a profit. Thank you so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have you thought about selling paints in your booth? Idk if it would be worth it for me…I’m on the lookout for a new booth rn , but chattanooga doesn’t have many, and most are full ! 🤷🏻♀️ I wanna Collab w you soon too, heather let me know what you think!
I have thought about selling paints but don’t know which brand I would want just yet and my store may not approve since they already have a number of people who carry paint. I would love to carry IOD but someone in my store was above me on the wait list! I may need to wait until summer is over for another collab since my time schedule doesn’t always match up with these kiddos!

I really like the chair! I think all the beautiful design detail already on it shows even without distressing it. It is a really pretty color.

Here in the UK we can buy a similar built in wax paint called Frenchic. I used to like working with chalk paint and still do sometimes but the Frenchic type is super durable. I’ve just found you and will be binge watching your channel today. Your puppy is adorable ❤️💕😘

I love the chair! Just checking...you didn't have to seal it with the paint that you used? Is it a pretty durable finish? I have a pressback rocking chair I'd like to paint just like this....
I didn't seal it...but honestly it has had some wear since my 8 year old moves it pretty often. I would maybe add a 3rd coat of paint next time if it's going to be a well used piece.

I like cracking but not chipping. Can I use extra bond and heat to get cracking?
I would use the extra bond and then use heat to get your milk paint to dry and encourage cracking!
I think the shelf is amazing - I love it. The egg holder is cute. The lantern is awesome - I love the colors. This is my fav. The cloche and the chair are pretty. Great video!

Hello Georgia friend, I love shopping around at antique shops like yours & the ones that always catches my eyes first is the ones with different color pop thats easy to see when walking by even the ones with different colors still in neutral put different textures. We all weird & beautiful I'm looking forward to seeing you step out of your comfort zone and trying piece thats not your style everyone is different and I think you'll extra fun& also do well in your business 😊. Just my opinion. Have you seen Cranberry Cottage she has a resale booth also and is also new on you tube her channel has blown up in no time and I believe you'd enjoy her channel she amazing at making something out of very interesting & inexpensive things. Looking forward to seeing everything you have up your creative sleeve.

I can’t believe the change in that lantern. Your vision paid off, big time. It’s beautiful. Sonnet is a great mentor. I think the two of you will be life long friends and creative business supporters.

Thanks for working with milk paint. The 1st time I used it I sealed the candle sticks first. I thought all the crackling was great until it all crackled off. Washed it off, painted the base then reapplied. Turned out great. I just think it takes practice.

It’s does take practice but I find it so fun to work with! It can makes things look super old without paying the extra $ for it!

With the chair, Heather.... I honestly thought, when you said that you weren't going to use any glaze, dark wax, etc. on it that all of the detail would be loss. I was very pleasantly surprised that it was not and it turned out stunning 😍 We all are used to using the chalk/clay based paints that are very thick and with them being thick, they tend to fill in the details some. I have heard that the Cottage Colors' paint is a bit thinner than Chalk and clay based paints so I am thinking that is why the detail on your chair still stood out very well after being painted, even though you didn't use a glaze or wax or anything. Absolutely beautiful ❣️
It is a little thinner paint than I am used to so I think that helped bring out the detail. And I hate to admit this, but I think the sheen (not as matte as I’m used to) helped bring out the detail too!

Henry is adorable! My dog, who is a mini pinshcer, hates when i sweep the floor. Idk why but he hates the broom, of all things. He also hates when my kids horseplay or shoot nerf guns. Its like he thinks they are really fighting. He cannot stand if anyone even seems to be arguing, which can be bad cause i have three kids. So there is arguing, lol. He will take sides, lol.

My white milk paint turned yellow after it dries ,, what am I doing wrong
I would imagine whatever you painted had some tanins bleed through. It may need a shilac or salvation solution prior to being painted.

I get fresh eggs from my in laws. I figured out my mom was right, they are so much better. My grown daughter came over for breakfast one day and she did not know about the farm eggs, but she remarked about how good the eggs were. They taste better imo. Also, i think your egg holder looks great.

Love the shelf and lantern. I think the chair will sell great I would have loved a little white white wax on top as well and chippy but not everyone likes that so they will be wrapped to find this beautiful chair.
I tried white wax on a sample piece and was super tempted to add it to the chair. Makes it more feminine though and thought I would try to sell the way it is first!

Love the look of the paint on the backside of the little wooden egg holder. Also think I need one of those paint brushes in my arsenal.
I did too! It could make a good riser too! That paint brush did such a good “line” edge. I think it’s worth it!
I do like your egg holder, I just do less distressing, just my taste.
I could have used a little less distressing on this one as well. That’s the fun of milk paint! 🤷🏽♀️. Maybe next time it goes crazy like that I should add the bond product to make it stick better.
