Hi Christopher, Joseph F. White, your first shown headstone, was married to Myrtle White and had an eleven year old son, Joseph M. at the time of the 1940 census. He was a welder at the Norfolk Naval Yard and passed at this time. He later passed at the age of 53 on November 25, 1945. Captain Wm. Howard White married Barbara Latheroum Mar 15, 1941. The headstone to the bottom of right of William is his sister who was seven years younger. She was Winifred Dardon Mason and the baby whos stone you cleaned, Donna Lee Mason, appears to of been Winifred 's baby lost on August 26, 1954. Just shy of two months before I was born. The Captain is my first husband's 9th cousin three times removed. 😉 53:01

@@VirginiaTombstoneRevival I'm originally from Illinois. I have met military people here. They are so kind and just a good place. It's quiet slow paced. I'm in Lawton Oklahoma. Not far from Fort Sill.

Thank you! 😊 I was hoping that one would have come out better faster, but in a few weeks I will check back to see how the D2 spray has worked on all of them. Should be a decent difference.
I admire the respect and interest you show in your mission, though solemn and sad I hope you embrace your effort with joy. It is a gift you give freely and it is important. Even just saying their names revives their memory. Reviving their markers brings beauty to all. Thank you, thank you.
I’m in Northern NJ, our Boy Scouts put flags on all veterans graves on Memorial Day. My Dad was a Marine in Korea, I always put the Marine Corp flag on his grave cause the kids put the American Flag on it
Once again a great job. Thank you. I have a thought about the "White" (first) stone. As I made it home this past week and was out cleaning family/some vets stones, a very elder man approached me and insisted "clorox spray". He said little beyond explaining "you need to use clorox spray" (to clean my family grave markers). He pointed out the stone (by where I stood) of the man this gentleman saw often use "clorox spray". After a couple of polite attempts to explain I was using the product Arlington uses (D/2) I saw I was not making any change in his stance. I simply smiled and thanked him. As we parted I wondered how many stones around where i was working had been treated with the clorox. My long point... I do believe now it is possible the stones that should be coming clean nicely that are not, may have been long ago damaged by the chemicals allowing lichen to settle deeper into the damaged stones. Its a guess, but from what Ive researched, this is the reason not to use harsh cleansers. Fingers crossed the d/2 still works over time. Keep up the great work.
That’s actually a very good possibility that I had never thought of. I have had good luck so far on the ones we have completed and checked back in on. So far they have all had a very considerable turn around. I’m hoping to keep that streak going. They are too lovely to just let fade away.
Wow! That's kinda dumb so when families take flowers to their loved ones they also need to take water. I thought that the cemeterys🪦 here were bad at least there's faucets with running water. As an Aussie watching why are graves or and headstones placed so randomly? Here we are fortunate that everything is in neat rows and additional plaques must be placed almost directly under the original.
It really is all over the place. Hard to really keep track of anyone I’d imagine. The kids area here is right on top of the other it seems. Some of the adults aren’t any better. It’s like they sell plots and don’t really check to see where the bodies truly are.
I have wanted to try Wet and Forget for a while now. I have watched several videos on the product and ones that compare WandF to D2, but I am not the most patient person in the world, so I prefer to scrub and see faster results. I order our D2 from a place called Atlas Preservation. Not sure if they deliver to Canada. The prices sounds very comparable though.

Otis Earl Mason was Winifred Darden Mason's husband. You cleaned his flat headstone and when you turned back to George Troutman there's another larger newer Otis Mason headstone too. He and Winifred married and on July 8, 1845. They had a son, Ronald R. Mason born in 1947 and passed in 2012. Then his sister, Donna was born and passed in 1954 in August of which you cleaned her tombstone today earlier.
I don’t know your religion, but was wondering if you feel a nudge to say, THANKS, Sir. Doing that much work, is showing what a GREAT MAN YOU ARE. Bet your parents are so proud of you. ❤️🤍💙🇺🇸
The funny thing is, I’m not overly religious. Never have been. But this has definitely become a calling for me. You are very kind. Sadly, my parents have both passed themselves, but I know my mom would love to know that Ronin and I cleaned her baby brother and mother’s headstones last year.
Looked at William Howard Darden. There is some info on find a grave. He was killed in a plane crash while looking for a missing plane. The date of death was 1943 but he was not found and buried until 8/1955. Winifred was his sister.
Right??? She wasn’t the only one I have seen pass on Christmas. My mother passed 2 days after Christmas herself, so the holidays are a little weird now for us….but I can’t imagine actually on the day. Very sad.

It is called D2 Biological Solution. It is the same thing they use at Arlington National Cemetery to keep those stones looking immaculate. I order mine from a website called Atlas Preservation. I know they sell it online at other places that may be closer for you. Sadly, I have not been able to find this at any retail store or big box place.
All the years my parents spent scrubbing loved ones graves with Clorox and it didn’t work that good. Finally after Katrina the oak tree that was huge, leaning over onto the church property, fell. So relieved we don’t have much to clean like we used to. I don’t see any trees there, how do they get dirty? Is it the texture of the stone? My grandparents are in Tombs in La(the state) . I’m truly shocked at Florida not having many tombs but a lot of headstones. I guess now the headstones are granite?
From what I hear and read, bleach is about the worst thing you can use. It apparently eats away at most stone overtime and makes it chalky or something. As to why a lot of these are so dirty….i really can’t say. Most looked pretty decent from their fond a grave profiles as of 2008/2009 when the last photos of them were taken. So how they became SO bad in 15 years is beyond me.
I thought the same. But we are wrong. Others are saying they found on a family tree type thing that Capt Darden and Winifred were brother and sister. That also makes sense. Pretty sure the little girl is hers and Otis’ baby though.
It is not a bleach at all. It's a quaternary ammonium that kills and keeps killing biological growth on both the outside of certain types of stone as well as the inside to prevent it from taking root. It is the same product they use at places like Arlington National Cemetery to keep all of those veteran headstones bright.
I fully agree and think its odd myself. I have seen SO many stacked up on top of one another and spatially there is no way its possible without them literally on top of one another.

The main thing I was really hoping to get some information on was the relationship between Otis, Winifred, William, and that baby girl.

This one has them all over….none work. It’s like the city has turned off the water to this entire location. Quite annoying.
Looking at the birth years, Winiford Darden Mason appears to me to be William Howard Darden's daughter, wife of Ottis Earl Mason.
