One summer I saw a stilt chick totter out of the grass near the tekapo river. It was a tiny puff on long twig legs with comically oversize feet. It stopped for a little rest, looking at me unperturbed, then made its way back into the reeds.
Best of luck to the conservationists and these wonderful birds they are trying to help! Hopefully appropriate sites can be reclaimed from introduced pests and predators so these strikingly beautiful birds can be reintroduced around New Zealand, making a fully sustainable comeback from the brink. (P.s. Gray Petrel! 🤞🏼)
I hope so! A lot of great progress has been made in recent years, so just maybe it will happen sooner than we think. Hopefully Grey petrels get some more attention as well. :)
@@HenrythePaleoGuy Yes, what they've managed so far is impressive indeed. Their progress does give me hope for this species' future- and it would be wonderful if full success would happen more quickly than expected! (Surely it's only a matter of time before the Grey Petrel gets its day in the spotlight. ...Hopefully. Lol 😊) Thanks for yet another great video!
I am slightly disturbed that the avian equivalents of interracial couples were killed in the name of conservation....eugenics are bad regardless of species, as far as I am concerned (with some exceptions for domesticated livestock).
I love the birdcalls at the end of each video. It's always a pleasant surprise.
You just never know when a birds story will be surprisingly intense and interesting. Thanks!
Whoa those guys are shaped. Definitely one of the birds ever made.
*They look like fantasy birds ngl- and the chicks look like ducklings with massive legs??? I love them
They do indeed. So thankful that they're still around. :)
Another wonderful bird.
Thank you Henry for your
wonderful clips.
Thank you! :)

Cool. Nice legs. Thx!
Thank you! They certainly are remarkable. :)
Grey. Petrel.
And that's all I have to say about that.
Let's hope they can win one of these days.
All these endangered birds 👀 sometimes you wanna slap humanity
Definitely a bird
Why yes indeed.
Poor Petrels
Let's hope more people vote for them. Given the numbers of people that vote, it really wouldn't take too much to turn it around for them.
