#JohnMellencamp #HurtsSoGood
Music video by John Mellencamp performing Hurts So Good. (C) 1982 John Mellencamp under exclusive license to the Island Def Jam Music Group
I’m a 25 year old black man. I grew up in Ghana, Africa but moved to Canada when I was 12. Back in Ghana we listen to any type of music that sounds good. So my black friends are always surprised when I can sing the full lyrics to 60s,70s,80s songs flawlessly. It amazes them and they end up enjoying the classics with me.
I’m 19 born in 2005 and I love the 80s music, it’s way better then this music we have now
Felicitaciones!
@@sandrarestrepo5295 that’s a word to say 😂
You are fucking cool!
@@KeithMoon- thanks buddy
Love this song, John. Brings back memories of us five girls after work, going on a beach side vacation. Fishing, perving and the pub scene. . We had a bloody ball. . We even cut a bill, so we could make our jigsaw puzzle to connect again, with the fabulous people we met on our long weekend. A brilliant weekend, had by all. It's amazing how a song can connect you in many ways. TY. xo
This song has cheering me up for 40 years now.
When I was a young boy
Said put away those young boy ways
Now that I'm gettin' older, so much older
I long for those young boy days
With a girl like you
With a girl like you
Lord knows there are things we can do, baby
Just me and you
Come on and make it, uh
Hurts so good
Come on baby, make it hurt so good
Sometimes love don't feel like it should
You make it hurt so good
Don't have to be so exciting
Just tryin' to give myself a little bit of fun, yeah
You always look so invitin'
You ain't as green as you are young
Hey baby, it's you
Come on, girl, now, it's you
Sink your teeth right through my bones, baby
Let's see what we can do
Come on and make it, uh
Hurts so good
Come on baby, make it hurt so good
Sometimes love don't feel like it should
You make it hurt so good
I ain't talkin' no big deals
I ain't made no plans myself
I ain't talkin' no high heels
Maybe we could walk around all day long
Walk around all day long, uh
Hurts so good
Come on baby, make it hurt so good
Sometimes love don't feel like it should
You make it hurt so good
Hurts so good, c'mon baby now
Come on baby, make it hurt so good
Sometimes love don't feel like it should
You make it hurt so good
Hey, hey
This song was playing in the dealership when I bought my first new car. I bought an 85 ford ranger, and the very same day my wife and I drove to Seaside, Oregon from Snohomish, Washington. That was the day I had our honeymoon, and to this day the song and truck give me good memories of that day.
Beautiful story
Me,Me,pick me
Wow! This sounds exactly like my parents’ story!! All the way down to the location😆 Omg.
By the way, they passed down that 1985 Ford Ranger to me… best lil truck I ever had.
My favorite song of all the 80s my great grandson 5 yrs says look grandma it's you and papas song...over it
Love it
I'm 55, my son is 18, he knows and loves all 80's music and knows which bands sang what.
He says I'm so lucky to have grown up in the 80's, I agree, best music and fashion ever.
Hello ,
how're you doing?
Your comments caught my attention
and that is why I am reaching out to you.
Your fan love for me warms my heart, Thank you!
It's nice meeting you here.
Your son is dead right. Blessed to have been a teenager during the 80's.
my dad's 50 and im 17 going on 18 this summer, i think just like your son on that one, i am so glad i have something to share with my dad while we're driving (wether i am or he is driving)
I'm 100 and my son is 69. We were raised on ragtime, but when i started jackin, i start quackin and has a hoarney boaner.
I'm same my kids love the old stuff when music and life was more simple
I’m 50 years old. Songs like this transport me back in time. Cheers, from Country Victoria, Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️
There are certain 80’s songs that give me an overwhelmingly painful and bittersweet sense of nostalgia. This is definitely one of them
i think you need to not. i have had that feeling of what i thought would have been but.. well i dont know the rest. i dont want to feel that way. listen to some springsteen
I'd be honored if some early 80s fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal TH-cam performances of JACK & DIANE by John Cougar and SOMEBODY'S BABY by Jackson Browne in tribute to the great musical summer of 1982. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital enhancements. Stay safe and keep on rocking in the '020s.

I’m only 26 but the rock classics are the best to jam out to. 🤘🏼
For sure
I'm 78 now and this song is still as fresh as when I first heard it 40 years ago in 1982 when I was in the prime of my life at 38. Enjoy life while you're young, it doesn't get any easier but I am now a lot more grateful and appreciative.
I was hoping it would get easier. I'm 33 and already very grateful for the things I do have
I am 73 and I am in the best time of my life! I love music and this venue opens up our music to people my granddaughters age and up! I’m still dancing in my living room and playing air guitar to the greats!thanks for your comment.
I’m 18 and I’m glad I have what I have and of course the people I got by my side
How did I just noticed this song is about BDSM?
Mama is a fan of you
Loved that they played this song in Footloose! Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer were tearing it up on the dance floor! While Chris Penn and Sarah Jessica Parker were sitting there, watching! "Buy him a beer!" LOL!
Back in the early 80s this video actually inspired me to start riding a Harley and hang out in biker bars; I met a girl there and my life was never the same after that, LOL. It's almost ridiculous that one song could change my life so much.
My dad singing this song is one of my favourite sounds on the planet. Love you dad, wish I could go back and hear you blast this song again. ❤️
Or, I can give you my #, not sure how to do that, privately, sorry. ❤
My ❤ to you snd yours, kid😊
Yikes, the spelling, God Bless the Brits@!❤
He was my late mother's favorite artist from the 80s. This song can rock and make me dance. I'm 48 and this tune came out in early 80s when I was 8. Love you mom and rest in peace! ♥
Ya I'm 47 used always dance to this song in disco it's a goodin 80s gave some music
❤
This has been my jam since I was 14.
You cannot kill class. John Mellencamp rocks. Probably didn't get the recognition he should have, but he is always on my island list.
I'm going to invent a time machine & go back to the 80's....Anyone coming with me?
Yeah, hazy days:)

This song 🎵 reminds me of my younger years when I was just young, wild and free and partying and just doing whatever I wanted to do.
Still listening in 2024!!! One of the Best!!
Yes and Hoosier proud spent a lot of time in home town in the early 2000s
Yesterday John Mellencamp played it live at Outlaw Festival. He still rocks over 70.
I grew up with my uncle Danny and I dancing every time this played. I have Cerebral Palsy and I'm in a wheelchair ♿ and now I'm still rocking my bed or wheelchair dancing every time this plays.
Thanks for the love and support, it’s nice seeing you here
My kids can roll their eyes up at me all they want. Growing up with 80s music was a GIFT.
We knew how to have fun.
Awhhh Bella they don't know about the 80s baby!

I'm always jealous! My bf and I love learning about the 80s and listening to the hits :) Definitely became an adult in the wrong decade (I was born in 88 lol)
as a gen z i will agree.
Im 36 and love this song! Was surprised to see his daughter on Housewives though! Lol
Reminds me of my late brother Peter he was lit 🔥 at his pre wedding social and he dedicated this song to his fiancé Linda, he passed this February he knew his music 🎶 ❤️🩹🩵 July 2023

right
I think it's a little bit of a new one and the rest of the album is amazing
Billy Blackmon wtf?!
This peaked at August 7, 1982. Just 11 days before my 10th Birthday. It reminds me of a trip I took to NY with the cub scouts. I remember having this song stuck in my head while being SO darn tired. They had us doing things from 9 AM to 10 PM.
The 80s rock music was the best. This song brings back so many great memories.
This song never gets old. Turn this all the way up.

Before my dad passed away when I was 12, this was one of the last songs we jammed to after getting lunch. I'm 30 now, and it always makes me think of that awesome day. Love this song.

It WILL be once Philly takes SB LVII ;-)
As a younger member of the rock community I would just like to say thank you for making this legendary music🙏🎸
In my opinion!
One of the greatest song & Rocken Roll artist ever ..
He was a big part of younger days ,when the American Fool record came out ...

When I woke up this morning, on a Sunday morning. Somehow this song came on my head so I thought I'd watch the music video. Memories. Haha
When we wakeup from sleeping or any time a song in our head it's playing on radio station somewhere lol
Kammy Snyder - haha most of the time that has happend to me but this time it really was just in my head when I woke up. It could be that I have dreamed the song in a background. I don't remember the dream anymore.
It's 4a.m. on a Sunday morning and I thought of this song ... and now I'm here. :D
🦋❤❤❤I 💃🏻 danced to this in my early 20’s and I still love dancing 💃🏻 to this song at 61❤

i was a small child listening to my mother play this. brings back memories.

Thanks for the love of support
Amen bro
No lie- My mother would let me sit and watch MTV all day long when this came out. When this vid came on she would make me turn the channel and wait a couple of minutes. This was 1982...I was 10.
my parents never cared for some reason. they would even let us watch 2 live crew videos
Mine was the opposite. Blast it - to the point the speakers were crying. haha She'd snatch me up and we'd rock out. Didn't realise then we were singing about sex but she made it fun! Big hair, white washed jeans, neon pink scrunchy, white high tops... oh yeaaahhh. haha
Wow! That was a long time ago, back when the M in Mtv stood for MUSIC, not melodrama.
It is unfortunate that John has turned his back on his first few albums. He will not play this song live despite it giving him a Grammy and being one of the best rockers of all time. American Fool will always be one of the best albums ever recorded.
Just fantastic. Some days, I just go down the nostalgia rabbit hole and find myself here 😊

+Helms Christ ---- It's sick.
1. Psychiatry. a person who has masochism, the condition in which sexual or other gratification depends on one's suffering physical pain or humiliation.
2. a person who is gratified by pain, degradation, etc., that is self-imposed or imposed by others.
3. a person who finds pleasure in self-denial, submissiveness, etc.
+dyad2r1 --- Consider the reasons for you posting this. Is it going to change anything, unlikely. But you, like most, including myself, get pleasure in stating your opinions. Though in this case it is insulting to the way other people feel. This is called sadism. the condition in which sexual or other gratification depends on someone else's suffering.
I personally don't get why anyone one would want to give or receive any kind of pain, whether physical or emotional such as insulting someone's way of being or humiliating them because of it. I know people like this on both sides and they are not "sick" nor are those that are usually the givers of pain abusive, at least those I know. For the most part they trade off. I have fantasies that I am sure that they would find unappealing just as I find their actions unappealing.
+dyad2r1 Wow!! To think that psychiatry was all about BDSM and never the study of mental disorders!
Learn something new every day!
edbo10 I think +dyad2r1 was saying 1 was the Psychiatric definition of masochism.
Though I am not positive.

I remember watching this as a young teen in early 80's on MTV. Brings back memories. Such a great performer, wish i seen Melencamp back in concert years ago.
On this day in 1982 {April 24th} John Mellencamp performed "Hurts So Good" on the ABC-TV program 'American Bandstand'...

Mr. Mellencamp will celebrate his 63rd birthday this coming October 7th...
not in Muslim countries and Indian culture, they marry girls 12 years old. Mohamad married a 9 year old girl. A different time and it was sanctified by God. Now a days we are governed by modern day law. Back then and today in some cultures, when a female is at the age of menstruating, they can marry as a woman's role in life is to give birth to children, and that is the bottom line. Not about sex with young girls. it's about a man making a female have babies as it written by God.
Nothing like the 60's 70's and 80's. Best music 🎶
