    Sweet Laura, regardless of how cute you always appear, and the fact that you always flash that gorgeous smile....I know you deep and personally....and, Sweetheart, you are the real deal. You work hard, many hours each day, you respect the awesomeness of the land, the machinery, our country, your family, and trust in God. These videos are an effort, and you are so good to squeeze them into your day for us. I love everything about what you do, but I must say that my favorite part of it all...is that I know this is your honest to goodness personality, and I remember your first reason for making videos....to try to teach/show/explain what it’s like to work and live the life of a farmer for your little cousins in Texas, who first asked you. I also remember everyone encouraging you to do more...to host AgOfTheWorld fur a week, to put some on FB, Instagram, Twitter...and finally get your own TH-cam channel...always with helping and reaching out to others in mind. You are doing a very good job. So many people just enjoy your honesty, genuine love for everyone and everything in your life, and getting to hear about it all from a young girl who is loving her first year of farming, her first year of college, and her first year of serving Center pivots. So from me, and I’m sure many others...THANK YOU ❤️😊

    The thing I like about your channel is it is raw, not scripted, not heavily edited just plain. Also don't be afraid to ask for people to support you for entertaining them, your time is worth $$$$.

      While drone footage would be cool. That would take away from the simplicity of the videos though. Which is one of the main aspect everyone enjoys about this channel. Its just a person with an iphone making interesting content. No need to get fancy with it

    • @thisguythatisme
      @thisguythatisme 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EddioFabio I fully agree about the simplicity of the channel. Really that's why I enjoy all of them so much. I'm not talking about some Peter McKinnon level of crazy editing. She has people from all over the world now that watch this and it would be cool, not to have all these cuts and edits, but just a day here and there where you see the machines from the air with the scenery around them that some people aren't privy to. With the tracking features of the DJIs, it would still be pretty simplistic on the video shots.

      @@thisguythatisme Some more overview of all things together would help me make a better picture.
      This channel has mentioned pivot[s] more often than Ross for me. But I have so many questions:
      - Clearly a pivot rotates around a center, right? Though I just read a wikipage which also mentions linear setups. But then you wouldn't call them pivots, I hope.
      - But is the center stationary, or does it all move too? - Here in Europe (Netherlands) we mostly use traveling sprinklers, often a carriage pulled across the field slowly by a base rolling up the long big 'hose' (flexible pipe rather). Before it is all setup further down the field again, or on another field.
      - Fields are mostly planted square though. So do you plant less/not in the corners where pivots don't reach (or is there overlap in the neighboring pivots?)
      - How fast does a pivot rotate?
      - How many pivots are there? Are there big gaps they together don't reach?
      And then other questions:
      - How much acres do your dad and Grants' have?
      - Do you have some cooperative, or is it all solo farming?
      - euhm...
      Mostly just saying all that to explain I still know so little. Not aimed at you specifically to answer of course. But this was the best place to list all this.

    My advise for TH-cam, having never done it before, is enjoy the process/growth/income/community/etc, monetize to the extent that you think is right (and save it) , know that you can walk away if it conflicts with your well being and your enjoyment of farming and family. Thanks for sharing your farm.

    I grew up on a small family farm in Ireland. I really enjoy this channel because it reminds me of what it was like growing up working on a farm except we didn't have pivots because it rains so much it's just not an issue. The bigger problem we always had was waiting for dry enough weather to bale straw or hay or when we could harvest fruit. I first learned to drive on a Massey Ferguson 135 when I was 12. My cousin runs the family farm now. He's a little older than Laura and every time I get to go home I check out the new farm equipment which is always cool. They picked up a John Deere 6195R a few years ago and it's a beast but otherwise they're Fendt fan boys, in any case I can't drive any of them now because they've become so advanced. When I brought my daughter over when she was about 2 she became tractor obsessed so we got her a John Deere power wheels. Last time we went home they had gotten gator so she got to drive that, she was 7 at the time and she was a pretty good driver (she sat on my knee and I did the gas and brake).
    Farming wasn't for me but there's days when I'm staring at a screen where I wish I was just running machinery. If nothing else it taught me work ethic and problem solving because you can't farm without either.

    Ok, so not sure where to start with this...here it goes. I come from the world of site development but, have always had a hankerin’ for farm life and you tube brings that home for me. I started watching Zach (the actor who plays the Millenial farmer lol) when he had 45k subs and enjoy him greatly...followed by NY Farmgirls, Welkers, Meredith and recently Mike Mitchell. I think it is Mike’s family but, they farm in Southern Saskatchewan and I am guessing they run 40k acres??? ....they spend 30 days planting with like 5-80’ Bourgault drills pulling carts the size of semis...insane. My point is you have this infectious personality and I am sure Grant is pinching himself everyday like I must be dreaming...and you moto....totally over the top...straight 🔥 girl. The end towers have alot more miles on them because of the bigger circle around the field they track. We have some pivots that certain towers that go thru bad wet spots have bigger taller tires, Idk if they are geared diff, I doubt it. Their cycle time for the length they run is prolly just shorter like the towers closer to the pivot point

      At that stage it usually comes back, but it is borderline. I used to spray corn and often times ran 15-30 degrees against the rows. If the rows weren't right I'd spend all my time just trying to keep my 4830 in the damn row. Most of the time I couldn't get the sprayer to sit in the rows and I ran over so much corn. It took some time to convince growers but running across the rows actually damaged less corn per acre.

    Are the plants that run over by the pivot tires and the tires of vehicles used to get around the plots essentially destroyed? And if so are they just acceptable losses that are factored in, or is it so minuscule that it doesn't matter?

    • @Kingfisher1215
      @Kingfisher1215 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tyler Simmons yes the get run over. The pivot creates a track basically. And the amount is factored in but it's not much really. The alternative is dry land farming and the yields are significantly less. Also the types of dry land crops is limited. So in essence, there really is no loss by the wheel tracks.

    Hearing protection check. Eye protection.... maybe we need to send you guys some.
    Are the pivot drive motors electric? How long can you make a pivot before you have problems with water pressure and voltage drop off because of the distance from the pivot point?

    That center pivot gearbox is called a worm drive. The small round gear on top is the “worm” and the big gear on bottom driving the wheel is the “worm gear”. There you go, next year you can clickbait everybody with “THERES WORMS IN OUR FIELDS!” 😂

    Ross: Oh yeah it will! Come on, up! Up-up-up! Up! Yes! Here we go! Pivot! (They start up the stairs again. Chandler is between the couch and the wall now.) Pivot! Piv-ot! Piv-et!! Piv-ett!!! Piv-et!
    Chandler: Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!!

    Some pieces of advice. One, nitrile gloves are great when messing with oil and mechanical stuff. Second, you need a logo and a set of merchandise, like shirts, hats mugs etc. Third, if you have a certain product or brand you swear by, don't be afraid to ask them for sponsorship in some form. This will get easier as your subscriber numbers go up.
    Lastly, thanks for being a role model my 12 year old daughter can look up to. You may not know it, but your journey is inspiring to young women everywhere.

    Don't have time to search all the comments, but that is a Spitfire Wheels logo on Cales' phone. They make skateboard wheels. It's a pretty badass logo, tbh.

    Sorry to comment on an old video, but I am curious, does each tower have progressively "taller gears" so the each tower moves a bit faster as you go from center to the outer tower?

    Would a water separator site glass be too delicate to put under the gear box? You just push a button until all the water drains out and you can see when you get to oil. Un-necessary expense? How's the water getting in in the first place?
