- James (these days he's goes by Jimmy) was born in south Texas and grew up in the Ozarks in Arkansas. When he was little he parents attended the Church of Christ but stopped attending when he was about five. In high school he became involved in the New Age movement. In his early 20's he began studying the Bible and fell in love with the Scriptures. Soon, he developed a desire to become a Presbyterian minister, in which denomination he now belonged. He fell in love with a Catholic girl and got married which ended the possibility of his being a minister in his conservative Presbyterian denomination. He began to study Catholic teaching, with an eye to making his wife Presbyterian. To his surprise he realized that the Catholic Church was right has he must become a Catholic. Sadly, Jimmy's wife became terminally ill. He was received into the Church in her hospital room, four days before she died. Jimmy is a Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to "Catholic Answers Magazine", and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live." Mr. Akin, I was in Baptist faith when I read Matthew 16 18 John 6 51 55 and others and read Catechism. I did enter the faith and love it.

Mary was born sinless by the power of the Son of God before she gave birth to Him
Mary was not sinless. Multiple bible passages suggest this. Nothing in the Bible would suggest otherwise.

@@mph1ish where is it conflated in the Bible that being full of grace also mean sinless? And why would Mary call God her saviour of she was sinless? And why does Paul exclaim that no one is sinless, not one, except the Man Jesus Christ?
Also, consider that Mary was pregnant with Jesus at the time. So she would have been, literally, full of grace.

@@CountMondego55 it is suggested that the unique use of the word “kecharitomene” is used as an identifier for Mary, almost like a name. And it implies that due to a past action she has been and currently is in a *completed* state of grace. Hence the translation to “full of grace”. The looser translation “highly favored” is also used sometimes because it is assumed that if you are in a complete state of grace, you are highly favored by God. And then elsewhere when Jesus and Stephen are referred to as “filled with grace” the phrase “pleres charitos” is used. So Mary’s title is unique. It’s a matter of translation plus tradition. If you come to the Bible by itself and disregarding all church history and tradition (as baptists generally do) you probably won’t come away with that understanding. In my view, you can pretty much argue interpretation vs interpretation all day so you can’t really go off of that alone.
I guess its just human nature to create divsion amongst ourselves. Its both fascinating and sad to see people argue as if its a whole new religion or faith..

Indeed the One true Christian Church was founded and started upon Peter the rock,for as Jesus said to Peter I will build my Church upon you the Rock Jesus is clearly saying he will build his church not only as Peter is living but also Jesus is proclaiming that he will continuously build his Church started upon Peter and after Peter has passed on for its so obvious that Jesus laid the foundation of his church upon Peter and his Apostles which as time went on the Apostles ordained their disciples to become their Successor’s wether it’ll be a successor of Peter or the other apostles as also this was done in the Old Testament with the high priest and Pharisees or scribes or sadducees

That is really bad advice. I say, follow anybody who will lead you to Christ and the Church he founded 2000 years ago which is both His body and his bride. I expect that someone lead you to Jesus, correct?
Think about the millions of Saints and martyrs who have lead people to Christ by their words and their example. Think of the Ethiopian eunuch did not understand Sacred Scripture it until someone (Saint Philip to be exact) explained to him. Saint Philip led him to faith in Jesus Christ, baptised him, and presumably instructed him to do the same for others.
Michelle, you and I, as well as every other Christian need to lead people to Jesus Christ. Jesus actually made this a commandment right? Matt 28:19"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have command you...". This is what Jesus told the Apostles as well as you and me to do.
For decades, Jimmy (and other Catholic Apologist like him), have been explaining the Christian faith to millions of people who in part because of their efforts have led these people to faith in Jesus Christ. May he receive a double blessing to continue his efforts for many years to come!

No one led me to JESUS ,my life was a mess I was not happy with the Roman Catholic faith that I was brought up in so one day I got on my knees and I cried out to God if your really there please help me ,and he did shortly after that I moved house and a tract came through my door telling me about JESUS the man who loved me ,
the man who died for me ,the man who was the son of God ,the man who was my saviour :-)
+Steve Gossett I read it and was really moved by it but I thought but I'm a RC what do I do so I prayed and went to bed and was woken up at three o'clock in the morning crying and asking God to forgive me of all my sins ,I then started to read the bible and saw for myself how the RC faith was not from God and the only reason I was a RC was that I was brought up in it and from there i continued to read the bible and trust God for my future

Christians know that CHRIST paid the price for our sins at the cross and there is nothing we can add to that that's why John Newton wrote AMAZING GRACE ! He's great, but I think I'd fall asleep watching Jimmy Akin very long.
I am disappointed to see his ultimate ground for Christian faith appears to be "because my parents raised me that way" and emotional investment. However, he does also say that the New Testament appeared to him to be historical documents: Next steps for the skeptic appear to be prayer and investigating what can be known historically from the New Testament documents. (It seems to me we must hold numerous assumptions, e.g. that their authors are reliable, that the historical record isn't missing something that refutes them, and hence ideas from the NT are beliefs that may be true, but isn't historical knowledge per se.)
What about the verse Jesus says those who love me will obey my commands, aren't John 6 51 55 Matthew 16 18 and others commands Jesus was God setting up his Kingdom on earth till he comes back.

the RCC is in dyer need of reformation in regards to it's legalism and systematized ideas of worship. I hope that this comes soon. I think Pope Francis is stepping in some right directions. The old testament worship was very legalistic and detailed. The new covenant worship is to worship in Spirit and Truth in freedom from it's legalism. Yes congregation is important however as soon as an institute says it HAS to be done this way it changes the game from freedom in Christ to slaves in Christ. IMO

Catholicism provides order for the multitude of faithful, worldwide. Protestantism is all over the place, and has likely caused more confusion and division that makes it more difficult for nonbelievers to come to Christ.

We pray to the saints in heaven. Maybe you think they are dead. Maybe you think you are more powerful. Maybe you think those who pass on in God's grace are ripped out of the Body of Christ and denied by God.

Umm, no. It's usually done face-to-face. The Apostles, the first bishops of the Church, were given the authority to forgive and retain sin by Jesus Christ. The priests are ordained by the bishops and work under their authority.
