My word, this film means such a lot to me. I remember my dad taking us all to an afternoon showing in a cinema on the sea front in our local seaside town in the uk. Me, my mother and my brother, not too long after the war. It was winter because out of season shows were mostly just local people; no holidaymakers. I remember my dad, not long demobbed from the RAF. It was a long time ago, I’m almost eighty now, but it’s a memory still as clear as if it was yesterday.
I don't know what channel it was, but I lived with my grandparents for a little while in the early 80's and it was Warner Brothers, Tex Avery cartoons, and stuff like this every day.
@@metalkatstudio Very Underrated. I have a complete collection of animation from Fleischer Studios, I often found their work superior to Disney, It was more metropolitan compared to Disney's more rural humour. That urban sophistication is what attracted me to the "New York" school of animation.
Edited for TV. The last hurrah for the Fleischer Brothers at Paramount. It had it's preview on 5 December 1941, was lost in the avalanche of news after Pearl Harbor, and when formally released in 1942, did so poorly at the box office, Paramount was able to let the brothers go and take over the cartoon operations as Famous Studios. A most unique film, in a modern setting, with great music ("We're the Couple in the Castle" became a modest hit single for Glenn Miller and others). This classic deserved a much better fate.
My dog Betty would love this I wrote a song which is on my channel about my dear departed dog Betty Bowie (she had two different coloured eyes) whose favourite toy was ladybug so I wrote a song since she passed called Betty Bowie and the ladybugs ! Your cartoon is from her !
Truly, Swat and Smack are the real stars that deserve some weird comeback as rovers searching for some swell gig to make it in the big time, obviously failing every time, but far from giving up.
All my little kitty's pampered and teddy and all the best place in my room full around with the pillow stands by for watching the best classic Movie grade A.❤️💕. Saya Sukaaaaaa Saya Sukaaaaaa All TEMBAM kitty's silent time please don't disturb them stand by popcorn and milk for them 💋😭
@@metalkatstudio For sure, and funny, the bugs reminded me of a short I watched as a kid that was featured in a bug-themed game. It was Hunky and Spunky's 'You can't shoe a horse fly', turns out it was directed by Dave Fleischer as well, haha. That short gave me nightmares for a good long while!
