just to let you know, there is a reason why vrchat put mirrors in the game, first was avatar customization, and second was learning face expressions, but mainly avatar customization.

I can tell you EXACTLY why mirrors are popular. You choose an avatar you like, so you want to look at it. It also helps with a sense of presence. When you move around in real life and interact with things in real life, there are so many things which help you know what you are doing and helps you contextualize your actions. You lack so much of that in VR, so looking at yourself in a mirror helps with that by offloading a lot of that onto sight.

The main problem with eye contact in vr is that we are not seeing real eyes. The closest you can get just leads to uncanny valley since it's difficult to actually emote with eyes in vr. And due to the way eyes work in vrchat, others will always look at you regardless of whether or not they are paying attention to you. A good example of this is a giant eyeball I made. Since it's just an eye, it follows players around the room. I could be staring at a corner, your friends pixelated arse or even myself. As far as you can tell, I'm always sitting there, staring into your soul with an overly realistic eyeball the size of a beach ball

Love the movie production quality! I'm brand new to VR, but I think it's because when you put on an avatar and it matches your movements, and you see yourself in the mirror, you trick your brain into thinking you are entirely a brand new person. I personally find it so cool to see an avatar I like matching my arm movements when I see myself in the mirror just with a Quest 2 and PCVR, it makes me want to get Full Body Tracking so my entire body matches the avatar movements as well.

Mirrors are popular because its harder to tell what your face and body looks like than in real life. Also, FoV in VR is a consideration. Normally, you would just all stand in a circle or something. In VR, you wouldn't be able to see everyone at once, but standing in front of a mirror let's you do that. It also helps with phantom touch when cuddling. You can't see someone's full body if they are close to you, and you obviously can't feel them. With mirrors, you can see.

Fundamentally, mirrors make up for many of the deficiencies in VR technology such as limited FOV, lack of tactile sense, and imperfect control which could mean your avatar may not be doing quite what you expect or intend. Unfortunately, many people don't understand this and attribute mirror usage to extreme vanity and/or social anxiety. These aspects can _also_ be present for any particular person, but they are not actually the underlying cause of mirrors being so popular in VR.

They'd probably just expand on the "doppelganger" system some art worlds uses to create a copy of your avatar. Kinda looks like cutout mirrors.
"Backup dancers" are also an option, if everyone project a double of their avatar it would look just like a common mirror reflection, so, very-poor avatar shenanigans are very much a possibility.
The third, and most common option actually, is of course a camera and a screen being used as fake mirror.
Long story short, nothing would change... xD

I had been watching a lot of VR content like Twice's videos and so I was expecting this to be another one, a little casual video essay or something about mirrors
Absolutely blown away by what I got instead. Fantastic work, I had a blast!

I have two things to say,
    'Why is this so good'
    'We want Korean subtitle'

I usually go to worlds with beautiful landscape, cause mirrors give me headaches, and i can’t stand looking at one just to talk to a friend.

I absolutely love this video, it's so random and also somehow so well done.
    Congrats on the team tbh
