The reason Agnetha points up is that the largest spotlight is called a Super trouper, wich you can see a man operating in the very first clip of the video. And if you listen to the lyrics ”Super trouper beams are gonna blind me ...” 🤩 The dramaturgy is also amazing with Abbas songs were they have a section in the beginning wich feels almost as a ballade when Frida sings and goes over to a raw dancetrack in the chorus to get the feeling that they accelerate the song tempo into the end. Very typicial buildup for Björn and Benny. Pure genious composing with lots of music hooks. Only Elvis and Beatles has sold more records then Abba in the whole world.
I didn't grow up with Abba. My mother has it all on vinyl and CD. I started listening to Abba when I was 16. When I turn up Dancing Queen or "Gimme gimme gimme" my mother starts dancing and smiling. Me too :-) As great as the appreciation for Abba later became ... I don't think any of these people listened to the lyrics. The lyrics are phenomenally good, the sound is pure perfection ... together with the voices it is and remains unmatched. At 25 I am not ashamed to say: I am an Abba fan. And if nobody remembers us anymore ... Abba will be remembered when there is no more electricity and her songs can no longer be played ... everyone will hum the songs to themselves ... and smile.
I'm from Glasgow :) I remember my dad buying this record when it was released and he played it over and over and over. When the Abba tribute band Bjorn Again come here and they hear the Glasgow bit everyone goes nuts, it's great fun..Abba were a great band. Great reaction btw
The idea for Abba's outfits being so outrageous was so that they would be classed as unsuitable for everyday wear which made them tax deductible. Great video as usual guys
Growing up I had such a crush on both women. My parents loved ABBA and many weekends the music in the home was filled with their music. Please do more. Thank you.
Thanks for the reaction. The pointing up on the chorus is in relationship to the sudden feeling of strength from the beams of light from above the stage that shines down on her like the sun.
Thanks for doing many ABBA reactions,I hope you can continue doing that, they have so many great songs and hidden gems out there.....I totally agree with you,Benny and Björn,lets not forget him either, they are probably the best song writer in music history... That said,I think the best reactions you do here on your channel is the ABBA songs..because you truly enjoy them...I like the enthusiasm you both have, both to the ABBA songs, also also to other songs that you do here. A fresh wind in the youtube reaction cyber space indeed...and as I personally see it,extra plus for your several ABBA reactions. All of this said, you seems to be a very friendly couple. Keep up the good work!
I agree with you: there's no songwriter in recent pop history that's as good as Benny Andersson. I have every song this man has ever written in my collection. No one even comes close in my opinion. His melodies are so good
The way to remember it is that the redhead is Firey Frida... ;-) My only trouble with Souper Trouper is resisting the urge to sing it with a lisp: "Thouper Twouper..." Just going to leave my customary vote for Summer Night City here....
i think Agnetha's motif in the video of pointing upwards dramatically like this is a reference to the "super trouper" being a special key spotlight that would shine onto a performer on stage, highlighting them for the audience *you also see frequent short clips of a lighting man swinging it towards the camera (e.g. at the start of the chorus) the theme of the lyrics is of a performer who, even though faced by thousands of adoring fans, still feels alone & isolated the "super trouper" spotlight is used as a symbol i think of the way a performer is highlighted & set apart on stage...."alone" in a way
Trivia: There are 9 layers of vocals in the "Dancing Queen" chorus. Agnetha and Frida were heavenly harmonizers. They must have done something right: we're still smiling 40+ years later!
if you go to big cities in Scandinavia, for the independence day, for example in Norway you find teenagers in large groups with speakers in the forest dancing to this music all night
I believe Agnetha was pointing to the Super Trouper (a brand name) of the spotlight above them. As for their choice of stage clothing, Bjorn said it was to get noticed, a great difficulty when they started out and the pop music scene was dominated by the Americans and the English. A band from Sweden sent you a demo record? Throw it in the trash!
You should watch "Super Trouper" and "Happy New Year" back to back. It looks to me that those two videos were shot on the same day. ABBA is wearing the same cloths in both videos, they appear to be filmed on the same sound stage and the same circus performers are there.
Super Trouper is a brand of Stage Light. That's why she's pointing. The "Super Trouper Lights" are gonna blind me. Yes.. They wrote a song about a brand of Stage Lights.
Abba-songs will be better and better with time. They will be listened to as long as there are people on the planet Earth. Or will be played in space. Have You guys seen the movie Marsian?
I don't mind it all if you do a lot of ABBA reactions. They're one of my all-time favorite bands. Also, even if it's mission impossible to choose favorite ABBA songs, like you Super Trouper is one song I would put on the first 3 places as well.
I saw your Take A Chance On Me reaction with Lauren and saw you ladies talking about the men's voices. A great song with the men's voices is Att finnas till(To Exist). They sing it in Swedish and it is a song they composed just before forming ABBA. A really beautiful song that shows how well the men can sing.
Got the album as a Christmas present in 1980 - the first ABBA album which was my own - and listened to it a lot. My favourite songs on that album were the rocking "On and on and on" and the somewhat unusual "The Piper". For those interested in mashups, there's one of "Super Trouper" and Van Halen's "Jump": th-cam.com/video/8Mdm9kISNgY/w-d-xo.html Works better than I thought it would.
I love ABBA. Their harmonies were so wonderful. My favorite song is Waterloo. There music is always happy. What always puzzles me is why they never really look happy in their videos. They might be smiling, but behind it, they always look like something is wrong. I know there was a lot of conflict within the group. Just my reaction to them.
I'll take that trade any day! I admire Rush, they're absolute geniuses. And I like a few of their songs, but they're not really up my alley. I'll take ABBA any time, though! -M
Well, thank you for this video with your reactions and comment "Super trouper" (1980) was the last #1 to ABBA in UK and it was at the day than John Lennon was murder You can hear clear Frida beautiful as a lead singer and Agnetha amazing in the second voice I only said that, as a songwriters, Björn & Benny was fantastic and so talent but the Greatest songwriters of the rock & por music was Lennon McCartney (BEATLES) And obviously is too difficult to chose ABBA songs to a Top 3 with so marvelous songs and masterpiece but my Top 3 could be #1 S.O.S. #2 Dancing Queen #3 Waterloo and inmediatly behind #4 The winner takes it all #5 Chiquitita and a lot that could follow to Top 10 (in chronological order): Mamma Mía Fernando Take a chance on me Thank you for the music Super trouper I believe that it's long time that You don't react another ABBA song Do you react one of my Top? Frida is a lead vocal. Fantastic!!!
The acapella at the beginning is heavenly
For sure! -M
@Mike Smithson the «à cappella» in «Take A Chance On Me» is better.

David Orheden funnily though the spotlight in the video isn’t actually a ‘Super Trouper’, but a rival brand! 😂
nice fact
I didn't know that about the spotlight. I always thought she stroke the rockstar pose.
Their Gold Album has been on UK list for 1000 weeks, world record ABBA FOREVER 🎶 ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

I really don't care that I'm not immortal, because I've hear the songs of Abba. And there will never ever be anything better in the future

Фрида супер!!!
Watch saturday night fever, and you will understand why she points up, just like Travolta in the movie. Very Disco!
The idea for Abba's outfits being so outrageous was so that they would be classed as unsuitable for everyday wear which made them tax deductible. Great video as usual guys
Thanks! -M
You should listen to "My love my life".. or "Eagle" (full version). Life will never be the same again.
Growing up I had such a crush on both women. My parents loved ABBA and many weekends the music in the home was filled with their music. Please do more. Thank you.
This is towards the top of my favorite Abba tracks, just love it.

Joy joy joy, The Gods Of Pop!!!
AND ... the lyric writer BJORN don't forget. Yes ... Benny the music fabulous.
FWIW ABBA never used sequencers. Benny always played everything manually! That's talent!
Super Trouper is one of my parents' favorite ABBA albums!
Trivia: There are 9 layers of vocals in the "Dancing Queen" chorus. Agnetha and Frida were heavenly harmonizers. They must have done something right: we're still smiling 40+ years later!
Oh I still point up at the Super Trouper lights when I’m singing along to this one! I look very odd on the metro 🚇
if you go to big cities in Scandinavia, for the independence day, for example in Norway you find teenagers in large groups with speakers in the forest dancing to this music all night
She’s pointing to the lights. The super trooper is the light that keeps being flashed on them while they’re in concert. Beams are gonna blind me...
Girl you so glamorous 😍
The beginning is what you hear when you enter heaven
It's a very dark song lyrically, the boys were channeling Agnetha with this one.
I found a youtube channel, and that channel is here, wow what a great taste of it, ABBA FOR EVEER
Glad you enjoy it! We absolutely LOVE Abba! - G
Now you must hear this sung by the entire cast at the end if the second Mamma Mia movie. Beyond uplifting and joyous.
Abba is what angels sound like.
The big stage spotlights are called Super Trouper’s, that’s what Agnetha keeps pointing at.
Agnetha keeps pointing up to the spotlight you see the guy swinging , apparently known as a super trouper I believe
Just love them. Could it be that they are the Mozarts of pop music? Maybe stretching it a bit to much but give it a 100 years or so...
The Gods Of Pop...
Look up the "super trouper" harmonies video! You guys will DIE. Incredible.

40 years since breakup and still selling 2 millions records every year WOW 🎶❤️

Their music made my heart bouncing when I was a kid
Super Trouper is a brand of Stage Light. That's why she's pointing. The "Super Trouper Lights" are gonna blind me.
Yes.. They wrote a song about a brand of Stage Lights.
That’s fabulous 🤣 - G

Awesome! Hard to find one that showcases the guys’ voices. But they’re always so good ❤️ - G
Indeed this has the grooviest bassline in chorus. Best part is the first chorus 1. part 'reduced' and in 2.part more instruments.

@@MikeandGinger É verdade,,,,,e agora vamos ver, para 2021, quando eles irão lançar a nova música! 💿🎼🙂
Since you guys gave us RUSH in 1974, I guess we had to give somthing back, like another band with a 4-letter name ;)
I'll take that trade any day! I admire Rush, they're absolute geniuses. And I like a few of their songs, but they're not really up my alley. I'll take ABBA any time, though! -M
ABBA forever
Well, thank you for this video with your reactions and comment
"Super trouper" (1980)
was the last #1 to ABBA in UK
and it was at the day than John Lennon was murder
You can hear clear Frida beautiful as a lead singer and Agnetha amazing in the second voice
I only said that, as a songwriters, Björn & Benny was fantastic and so talent
but the Greatest songwriters of the rock & por music was
Lennon McCartney (BEATLES)
And obviously is too difficult to chose ABBA songs to a Top 3 with so marvelous songs and masterpiece
but my Top 3 could be
#1 S.O.S.
#2 Dancing Queen
#3 Waterloo
and inmediatly behind
#4 The winner takes it all
#5 Chiquitita
and a lot that could follow to Top 10 (in chronological order):
Mamma Mía
Fernando
Take a chance on me
Thank you for the music
Super trouper
I believe that it's long time that You don't react another ABBA song
Do you react one of my Top?
S.O.S. or Chiquitita?
That's your opinion. For me, ABBA are superior to Beatles.

Hi from an Ex Glaswegian here :)
Ignore the hate people. XX
I was feeling down so the doctor told me to take two ABBA songs every day 🐈⬛🐈🫂♥️
She is pointing up at the spotlight. It is called a Super Trouper. This is more or less what the song is about.
Great reaction - love Abba. I just found your channel and guess what I’m from Glasgow. BTW you two are a very sexy couple 😉
Thank you 😊 - G
I like the female what about you!)
@@robertpaisley8643 she looks like nothing but trouble 😜 - G
Try another incredible song "Me And I" from the same album.
She keeps pointing up because she’s a indicating “Number 1”

Thanks for subscribing. We do plan to do more ABBA, so it should be no trouble getting to that one! -M
