Yes. Was so good to have 8 or ten (or more) band members working together to get that sound. It was the norm back in the Cameo, Lakeside, Con Funk Shun era.

I love it that this new generation of kids are just finding the musical groups from 40 years ago! Many of the 70's soul group members have passed away! But their music is making a comeback and will be played for the next 50 years!

Best slow jam from them to me, I never get tired of listening to this song on repeat for at least 10 times before I move on to the next slow jam. Man the 70' & 80's had the most soulful and meaningful slow jams to me at least personally.

Hanging Downtown is one of the few songs where Larry Blackmon (along with Tomi Jenkins and Charlie Singleton) really showcased his vocal chops!

This song is such a classic. We use to slow jam & Waltz on roller skate to this back in the day it sound so good loud. There are alot of Cameo great song that haven't been reacted too. Here is another group just as good. The Bar-Kays that you been sleeping on & no won's react too. They also are legendary & have a extensive archive of great songs.

Sooo many dope cuts by Cameo. But “Hanging Downtown” and “Feel Me” are two are my FAVORITE underrated jammy jams.

A fav ♥ Pregnant w/oldest son in '84 (problems w/his dad), this song was RIGHT ON TIME for me because my main attraction (alone), literally was "Hangin' Downtown" Chicago & this was my ANTHEM. LOL
One of my fav songs listened this song every day then, larry blackmon and charlie singleton are the brains behind cameo. Blackmon is the leadsinger.
Cameo is the truth. Love this joint but our favorite song of theirs is Sparkle In Your Eyes. Check it out.

If you really like their versatility you have to react to the Title track of the Alligator Woman album. It's a funky new wave track that bangs. And their last track "El Passo" 2019 digital only single. Larry Blackmon did most of their production. His still got it.
Man I go way back with Cameo I thought Cameo was so fly when I was younger I wanted to dress like them but this track here was one I never heard until about 4 or 5 months ago I came across it and I can't stop rocking it so I got to agree with you JJ wow wow wow wow

You're on fire! Another one of my favorite bands and one of my favorite songs and in heavy rotation on my playlist. Production? Larry Blackmon is a beast on all levels.
To me Cameo is like an offspring of EWF and Pfunk. For example listen to the instrumentals like Sound Table, In the Night, their ballads and midtempo grooves for Ewf DNA. Then listen to Funk Funk (check out this mesmerizing video th-cam.com/video/19UuymyRiV4/w-d-xo.html) Rigor Mortis, i just want to be etc for Pfunk influences

Your Top 5 bands conversation is funny cause of the simple extensive number of bands over the last fifty years alone (& I am just speaking of Black performers) so perhaps Top 5 of the 60's, 70's, 80's and so on might be easier for you to achieve, Just sayin'. Those are the two songs that Cameo are KNOWN for! PLAY THOSE SONGS!!! I don't know who is advising you on Cameo, but they are not giving you the right information!!!
