Fact: The Bible is fiction just like every other religious myth. So there go your first two paragraphs. The other thing is an overused, arbitrary and very much nonsensical argument that leads nowhere.
You literally come preaching to this thread and accuse me of fishing up debates? This is fucking hilarious. Also, what the hell? You basically made up what I said so you had something to counter. I didn't say that I don't want to know the Bible (by the way, I have read a good chunk of it, but it doesn't matter) or that there is no god (although of course there isn't). I essentially said the Bible is not a valid source. Unless you go ahead and prove that God exists and the Bible is in fact inspired by him. Until them it's fiction just like the other THOUSANDS of myths you also refuse yourself - like, how do you know Zeus doesn't exist and the Greek myth is the real one? They have really old books they could hurl quotes at you from as well.

I don't know where you get that from, but that is outrageously wrong. I invite you to consult this with an actual expert on religions, which I'm not. But just statistically speaking - there are thousands of myths - it just can't be. And know this: Every other religion thinks this very same thing about itself.
As for the historic framework: That's even more ridiculous. Can you name a mythology that DOESN'T feature places in the real world? The islamic of norse myths do for sure, for instance. And by the way, the Bible is crawling with incoherent geographic descriptions (look it up; some of the writers really didn't know the area well). And what the hell, is it as easy as naming real places? Because everyone can do that.

Incorrect. Satan is defeated ONLY for those who have a close knit relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus serves as a substitute for your guilt come judgement day. Same as in a court case. You are guilty of the offenses you commit against God. But in this case, that determines where you spend eternity, Jesus is the only one worthy enough to take your place as the guilty party. But that requires your devotion to His cause. Ultimately, Jesus wants a relationship with you. And if you knew what you get in return, besides escape from hell, them you would jump all over His invitation! The problem is, no one knows or believes in Him and everything that follows.

By that logic Satan was always defeated so that's not an accomplishment. God never defeated Satan because Satan was always defeated even before Satan was created.
If Satan can still cause problems, then he isn't defeated. If he's going to be defeated, then it stands to reason he isn't defeated yet. You can't ignore time, to try to make sense of this.

Why does no one ever pose this question "If everything is in gods plan do we have free will?"
Well that has to do more with the theories we have about time such as that time is not always linear but that is how we experience it, looking at space time theory if you traveled to the future and look at what happens and then goes back to the past does that mean all the people making those decisions have no free will to make that decision? Also free will isn't just choice but more specifically we have the ability to make bad choices that lead us away from God and a bunch of philosophical about how without darkness there is no light, if we didn't have free will we would all act correctly under the rules of God, but I would like to point out that I am not a religious person but that argument just doesn't work

You want evidence of evolution? Look at the Influenza Virus, one of the most rapidly evolving and adapting viruses known to man. Look at the mosquitoes that live near the Gulf Coast in Florida, compared to their brothers in New England. Look at mankind over the past 30 to 50 years.

A scientist will read dozens of books in their lifetime, but still believe there is much to learn. A religious person barely reads one book and thinks they know it all.

However it pains me that I like you as a person and you are very appreciative of good things and the such, but the way you put down Christians with such force is painful for me to watch, because I'm not either in favor of Christians or Atheists, and if I had to pick between the two, I'd go with Atheists, because Christians today are NOT obeying Christ, and also they insist that we're all evil people when I've already made up my mind to both honor God and contribute to society-- no good in calling us evil unless it provokes awareness to a key issue.

It's not like God is angry at you intentionally, He just can't help not be when He sees people responding excessively to neutralize a threat that isn't even there. You are ignorant in that you assume science can prove everything. You basically appeal to science as if it were your god. It seems to never occur to you that science has its limits. Science has to do with the study of the natural material world around us as well as the universe. Yet, we know so little of our own present world. For instance, over 80% of our oceans have not been explored, let alone our solar system or universe of which we know far less of. Yet here you are in ignorance, telling us that God does not exist! Look, if you have eyes in your head with a brain between, you would know that creation testifies of God's existence, our conscience testifies of God's existence, and the testimony of the Bible testifies of God's existence.

I grew up Christian. If you think you have evidence for the veracity of the Bible's claims that I haven't already heard of, then fire away.
Destruction of my worldview is not an issue. If I am wrong, then I wish to be corrected. HOWEVER, my standards for evidence of ridiculous claims are very high, and I don't believe anything on faith. Verifiable evidence comes first, then belief, never faith.
BlackEpyon No one of us would be here without faith and believe. "What value has a baby?" - the believe of parents and society that a baby will grow up for good, is our start.
Our whole civilization is based on believe, without believe we'll return to barbarism.
Let's begin with something simple....
"At the beginning was the Word [...] and the Word was God." - God is a word, the word itself. Doesn't sound specular at first but you'll see that the outcome is quite amazing.
A word is a definition for something, no thought without words, no communication without words, no science without words.
Once you have understood this, the bible suddenly makes sense, e.g.
"God created the Earth 6000 years ago." - just means some named this pile of dirt: Earth.
Or "Immaculate Conception" - becomes a birth in mind. A creation of a character that became alive in the mind of many and that way immortal. Maria even got paid by the kings for this creation. Today it's Hollywood (holy woods) that creates fictive characters like this, heroes who safe the world, who protect people from evil.
Other fictive characters are for example kings, queens, presidents - entities which just exist in our minds - as words. Immortal in their existence. Positions given further from the father to the son - in mind.
Other constructions are nations (words on paper), laws or the value of money - all this just exist in our mind. Illusions we believe in, so deep that most of us think they are real.
And even knowing this, most people are not able to understand it. Let's take it a step further....

What was this *social experiment* he is talking about? Well, is was the great experiment of the systems, which roughly were/are:
USA: competitive without social security
EU: competitive with social security
UDSSR: collective with social security
ASIA: collective without social security
And again - each of those systems just exist in our minds - thoughts, idea, words.
I'll stop here for now, because it's usually beyond what common people are able to understand.

Nah. It's not just you. That's exactly what they do. Twist the scripture to suit their beliefs. You're right. They can't even agree amongst themselves what is right and wrong. I live in Atlanta, smack in the middle of the bible belt. There's a church on every block, most of them store front churches. Why are there so many? Because Bro. Jones was attending 1st Missionary Baptist but didn't agree with the pastor so he left and started his own church, Holy, Holy, Holier Than Thou Baptist Church. And so forth. Every one of them thinks that their version of the bible interpretations is the true one.
I have a Jehovah's Witness mother and a Southern Baptist father...listening to them read essentially the same Bible and come to different theologies was sad as a kid, because they were always fighting, but the return in emotional investment was a thousand-fold. When you cover Comparative Religion before Kindergarten, you really have a leg up in a place like South Carolina!
I'm also a Jehovah's witness so is my mom but my father is Roman catholic. My Mom never forced me to be one, it was my choice as I knew this was the truth.
That's the peoples fault not God's.
