The only * on all that is that advanced stats and metrics are not applied to the era when Wilt played. If they were, his numbers would tower over everyone. Growing up in the 80s and 90s, I am a die-hard MJ fan, but even I have to admit that Wilt was the most dominant player ever. The NBA changed rules to try and slow him down.
Don't forget he doesn't lead the all time list on turnovers like LeSwept James. Also, he never cheated the game by flopping, whining, waiting for the referees to makes calls or load managing. Don't forget Jordan never joined super teams or left Chicago to team up with Barkley, or Malone or Miller or Ewing. LeBron teams have traded 188 players to make the """"King"""" happy. Jordan teams only 35 trades. More importantly, he never talked about politics or instilled the victimhood mentality to young kids.

The dude was a great competitor, he would do whatever it takes to win at all costs, he never complained and never needed a superteam and Skap Attack, MJ dominated the MBA in an era where Big Man was the main focus on offense and defense. MJ did it all. And I'll also say this, Hakeem Olajuwon winning his 2 championships is underrated. He won back to back championships around a team that was just average at best and he carried his team to back to back championships against way more harder competition. MJ is the GOAT and in my opinion, Hakeem is the greatest center of all time in my opinion. Hakeem needs more respect

Jordan to me is the Best to Ever do it because he dominated at the 2 in an era full of talented Bigs while not having one on his team. He also took the NBA Global. We could only speculate what would’ve been if he was to play all the 10 years but the expectations he set on himself was high and was never disappointing. Like 95 he lost to the Superteam Magic and came back the next year to sweep them and complete the second 3-peat after retiring for nearly 2 years. There are basketball fans today that wasn’t fans of the sport until MJ took it on a Global Scale.
LeBron apologists claim the 90s was an “easy” decade because Jordan won all the time. No one gives the Sonics, the Knicks and especially the Utah Jazz their due. Utah had probably the 3rd best PG all time. John Stockton was a machine of efficiency and lead the league in assists NINE seasons in a row. And the only reason Karl Malone isn’t considered the single greatest power forward of all time is… because of Michael Jordan. Tim Duncan won at the highest level. Malone didn’t. But stat-wise, Karl is clearly superior to Duncan, but Duncan elevated in the playoffs and Karl ran into MJ. MJ isn’t the Goat because he won against multiple dynasties. He’s the Goat because he PREVENTED multiple dynasties.
These are all straight facts. The sonics and the Jazz are two of the greatest teams of all time to never win a title. The Jazz might be vying against the OKC Thunder for the top spot on that list...

The 90s is easy but not because Jordan won. None of those other players are comparable to the other eras great. Charles Barkley is a 6’5 Power Forward. There was no Wilt Russell Kareem Magic Larry Kobe Lebron KD or Steph type players. David Robinson and Shaq were great but they were significantly younger than Jordan. The Jazz were so good they dropped 54 in a finals game. The warriors score that in a quarter during the 2010s with KD Steph and Klay combining for 70PPG a night of offense and that doesn’t include the role players lake Livingston Iguodala and Green. Also am I the only one that noticed Jordan’s production dived in the late 90s with the introduction of new era guards like Grant Hill Kobe and AI.

The 90’s was really for the love of the game. It wasn’t about trades, it wasn’t about contacts, it wasn’t about locker room drama… it was about the game. And when we did hear about drama, most of the time we hear about it much later on. Jordan will always be the goat to me… He did damage without relying on the 3 pointer. Then on top of that, you couldn’t foul the guy… and if you did, he was a reliable free throw shooter (while getting rest) on the free throw line. Jordan was must see tv. Great vid!

Saying Hakeem could only win once MJ retired doesn't make sense because they've never clashed in a playoff series. That statement holds true to Patrick Ewing, Reggie Miller, Charles Barkley etc if they had won, cause all of them lost to Jordan but Hakeem vs Jordan never happened, so you can never know what could've happened. Jordan's the goat for sure, but saying Hakeem only won cause Jordan wasn't in the league is silly.
I don't think Jordan retiring is what allowed Hakeem to win his two titles, especially during the period the Bulls had no Horace Grant and no Dennis Rodman. The Rockets had a winning record against the Jordan Bulls during the first three-peat in the regular season due to Hakeem being a really bad matchup for the centers on the Bulls, but the issue was the supersonics were a bad matchup for the Rockets and kept the Rockets from getting out of the west to play their more favorable matchup in the Bulls. Everything else you said was good though.

That era changed basketball as we know it and took it global. It was crazy to have lived through the Jordan phenomenon. I can't even imagine how much crazier for Jordan it would have been if internet was as big as it were now.

Hakeem routinely gets shit on because of the timeframe that he was unfortunate enough to play in. Clashed with the Magic Lakers and Bird Celtics in the 80s and then was overshadowed by Jordan in the 90s. I think Hakeem is a top 10 all time player and displayed arguably one of the 2-3 greatest peaks ever. Had to give him some run here. BUT, let's not get it twisted, Jordan's strangle hold on the 90s was unlike anyone else's ever. It isn't close. People might point to Russell's run in the 60s, but he wasn't close to the best individual player of that decade. That was Wilt. Jordan was essentially what it would look like if Russell won by dropping Wilt's individual numbers. He was the greatest combination of winning, individual dominance, stats, etc. It's WHY he is the EASY GOAT.

I grew up loving the Utah Jazz because Greg Ostertag went from the University of Kansas and was drafted by the Jazz. I love 90s basketball and all those teams. It was rough watching those two finals yet still epic.
I am so fond of the 90s, as it was the first full decade of NBA hoops that I watched. I was born in the 80s, but "grew up" in the 90s. It's honestly still difficult to comprehend exactly what Jordan accomplished in that decade.

Imagine starting middle school (6th grade) just leaving elementary school, with the Jordan Bulls winning a title. Then upon your high school graduation the Jordan Bulls still winning another title. All in between that time all you knew about basketball involved Michael Jordan even in his 2 retirement years. I remember during that time I was living through something that will never ever be done again.

Great to give credit to the 90's stars--especially Hakeem and Malone, who only missed 1 of those 3 games in the 90's due to injury--who otherwise would be regarded even more highly BECAUSE THEY WERE DENIED TITLES by Jordan. MJ's true greatness was in his insane mental strength and discipline, keeping otherwise all-time great players from winning (even shutting them out completely from an NBA title)! Barkley+KJ, Ewing+Starks, Kemp+Payton, Shaq+Penny, Reggie+Smits, and Stockton+Malone would have EASILY WON TITLES in their team's respective best seasons. Thus, their legacies would have greatly changed, particularly Malone (could have won 5 Scoring Titles and had an MVP 3-peat in addition to 2 titles) and Stockton (a stronger case for #1 PG when factoring in context of lacking the dynastic teammates of his 2 peers). Similar to the 80's, the 90's had the greatest player (plus the debatable contender) for all 5 positions (C: Hakeem/Kareem; PF: Mailman/Barkley; SF: Bird; SG: MJ; PG: Magic/Isiah/Stockton). As with the emerging stars of the 80's in their prime in the 90's, there were the dominant players of the 80's who were waning but still outstanding in the early part of the 90's. Man, I miss the 90s but at the same time I am grateful I was able to grow up to this golden era of professional basketball. I remember watching the Bulls beat the SuperSonics back in 96' and MJ broke down and we all knew why. That was the year I said this dude is the goat and we will NEVER see another Michael Jordan again.
From 87-93, we will never see see a player this consistently elegant & perfect without a stop. Honestly, he wouldn't even needed 96-98 to prove he is the goat. Kobe (2002-03) LeBron (2011-2012) are the only seasons I've ever seen good enough to match any of Jordan's, but that would be all. No one can just top Jordan.

Bill Russell won championships from in 1957& 1959, plus 1960-66, & 1968-1969. Bill Russel was easily the standout, most dominant player of the 1960's. Basketball Time Machine should do a video on that amazing accomplishment by Bill Russell.
How? He ain't avg 25fga per game in today'a game and he's bad at 3's. He's averaging at most his career high of 37ppg for which he needed 28fga per game and 12 free throws.

The hardest worker took 6 seasons to crack 30% and plenty of players who played without a 3pt shot in college were avg 40% from 3 during this time. MJ shot above league avg 35% 2x during his career in a normal line. He got worse actually in 91 and 92 after a decent 1990 season. Sbot is awfully in his wizards years too and in 98 it took a huve dive after reverting to a normal line. Look kid MJ has a goat case and is unquestionably a top 10 player ever and the best to do it as the SG position. But he can't have it all. He was a lousy 3 pt shooter for the same reason he was amazing from midrange: long hands and big arms. I've only seen kawhi and KD shoot the ball well with big hands and long arms.

As a Rocket fan that saw virtually every game Akeem/Hakeem played in college and the NBA, it would have been a lot of fun to see a Rockets Bulls finals (or two). Olajuwon was just a beast in those two seasons at his peak prime.

In the 90s mj missed 3.75 seasons due to retirement. So if you consider he dominant his decade while being active in just over 60% of the decade that is even more impressive. He won 3/4 championships twice with the almost 2 season break in the middle. That is also incredible.

Agreed. This comes from an enormously huge Stockton and Malone fan. That shot that finalized Jordan's 6th championship is a nightmare in my mind. But Jordan is the GOAT as in all time as in never a player better. The Bulls weren't unbeatable my Jazz did mess up bad in the 97/98 finals. That said Bulls didn't. Bulls in big moments didn't do that and that's why Bulls didn't get beat. Their defense was probably the best ever.

The only * on all that is that advanced stats and metrics are not applied to the era when Wilt played. If they were, his numbers would tower over everyone. Growing up in the 80s and 90s, I am a die-hard MJ fan, but even I have to admit that Wilt was the most dominant player ever. The NBA changed rules to try and slow him down.
Don't forget he doesn't lead the all time list on turnovers like LeSwept James.
Also, he never cheated the game by flopping, whining, waiting for the referees to makes calls or load managing.

Jordan to me is the Best to Ever do it because he dominated at the 2 in an era full of talented Bigs while not having one on his team. He also took the NBA Global. We could only speculate what would’ve been if he was to play all the 10 years but the expectations he set on himself was high and was never disappointing. Like 95 he lost to the Superteam Magic and came back the next year to sweep them and complete the second 3-peat after retiring for nearly 2 years. LeBron apologists claim the 90s was an “easy” decade because Jordan won all the time. No one gives the Sonics, the Knicks and especially the Utah Jazz their due. Utah had probably the 3rd best PG all time. John Stockton was a machine of efficiency and lead the league in assists NINE seasons in a row. And the only reason Karl Malone isn’t considered the single greatest power forward of all time is… because of Michael Jordan. Tim Duncan won at the highest level. Malone didn’t. But stat-wise, Karl is clearly superior to Duncan, but Duncan elevated in the playoffs and Karl ran into MJ.

The 90s is easy but not because Jordan won. None of those other players are comparable to the other eras great. Charles Barkley is a 6’5 Power Forward. There was no Wilt Russell Kareem Magic Larry Kobe Lebron KD or Steph type players. David Robinson and Shaq were great but they were significantly younger than Jordan.
The Jazz were so good they dropped 54 in a finals game. The warriors score that in a quarter during the 2010s with KD Steph and Klay combining for 70PPG a night of offense and that doesn’t include the role players lake Livingston Iguodala and Green.

The 90’s was really for the love of the game. It wasn’t about trades, it wasn’t about contacts, it wasn’t about locker room drama… it was about the game. And when we did hear about drama, most of the time we hear about it much later on. Jordan will always be the goat to me… He did damage without relying on the 3 pointer. Then on top of that, you couldn’t foul the guy… and if you did, he was a reliable free throw shooter (while getting rest) on the free throw line. Jordan was must see tv. Great vid!

Saying Hakeem could only win once MJ retired doesn't make sense because they've never clashed in a playoff series. That statement holds true to Patrick Ewing, Reggie Miller, Charles Barkley etc if they had won, cause all of them lost to Jordan but Hakeem vs Jordan never happened, so you can never know what could've happened. Jordan's the goat for sure, but saying Hakeem only won cause Jordan wasn't in the league is silly.
I don't think Jordan retiring is what allowed Hakeem to win his two titles, especially during the period the Bulls had no Horace Grant and no Dennis Rodman. The Rockets had a winning record against the Jordan Bulls during the first three-peat in the regular season due to Hakeem being a really bad matchup for the centers on the Bulls, but the issue was the supersonics were a bad matchup for the Rockets and kept the Rockets from getting out of the west to play their more favorable matchup in the Bulls. Everything else you said was good though.

Hakeem routinely gets shit on because of the timeframe that he was unfortunate enough to play in. Clashed with the Magic Lakers and Bird Celtics in the 80s and then was overshadowed by Jordan in the 90s. I think Hakeem is a top 10 all time player and displayed arguably one of the 2-3 greatest peaks ever. Had to give him some run here. BUT, let's not get it twisted, Jordan's strangle hold on the 90s was unlike anyone else's ever. It isn't close. People might point to Russell's run in the 60s, but he wasn't close to the best individual player of that decade. That was Wilt. Jordan was essentially what it would look like if Russell won by dropping Wilt's individual numbers. He was the greatest combination of winning, individual dominance, stats, etc. It's WHY he is the EASY GOAT.

I was 11 when Jordan’s 90’s reign began. By far that decade was COMPLETELY DOMINATED by him more than ANYONE had dominated a decade previously and afterwards. MJ, over ANY player before or since was ABSOLUTELY MUST SEE TV!

So spot-on! Great to give credit to the 90's stars--especially Hakeem and Malone, who only missed 1 of those 3 games in the 90's due to injury--who otherwise would be regarded even more highly BECAUSE THEY WERE DENIED TITLES by Jordan.
MJ's true greatness was in his insane mental strength and discipline, keeping otherwise all-time great players from winning (even shutting them out completely from an NBA title)! Barkley+KJ, Ewing+Starks, Kemp+Payton, Shaq+Penny, Reggie+Smits, and Stockton+Malone would have EASILY WON TITLES in their team's respective best seasons. Thus, their legacies would have greatly changed, particularly Malone (could have won 5 Scoring Titles and had an MVP 3-peat in addition to 2 titles) and Stockton (a stronger case for #1 PG when factoring in context of lacking the dynastic teammates of his 2 peers).
Similar to the 80's, the 90's had the greatest player (plus the debatable contender) for all 5 positions (C: Hakeem/Kareem; PF: Mailman/Barkley; SF: Bird; SG: MJ; PG: Magic/Isiah/Stockton). As with the emerging stars of the 80's in their prime in the 90's, there were the dominant players of the 80's who were waning but still outstanding in the early part of the 90's. Man, I miss the 90s but at the same time I am grateful I was able to grow up to this golden era of professional basketball. I remember watching the Bulls beat the SuperSonics back in 96' and MJ broke down and we all knew why. That was the year I said this dude is the goat and we will NEVER see another Michael Jordan again.

From 87-93, we will never see see a player this consistently elegant & perfect without a stop. Honestly, he wouldn't even needed 96-98 to prove he is the goat. It is MJ's fault we can't see any other surpassing him, winning is really a part of greatness, and during the 90s, we were spoiled every finals he was in, he will win, we weren't dissapointed.

Bill Russell won championships from in 1957& 1959, plus 1960-66, & 1968-1969. Bill Russel was easily the standout, most dominant player of the 1960's. Basketball Time Machine should do a video on that amazing accomplishment by Bill Russell.

How? He ain't avg 25fga per game in today'a game and he's bad at 3's. He's averaging at most his career high of 37ppg for which he needed 28fga per game and 12 free throws.

@@jkemp6791 avg 28% from 3pt land if you remove the 3 seasons with a shorter line. The hardest worker took 6 seasons to crack 30% and plenty of players who played without a 3pt shot in college were avg 40% from 3 during this time. MJ shot above league avg 35% 2x during his career in a normal line. He got worse actually in 91 and 92 after a decent 1990 season. Sbot is awfully in his wizards years too and in 98 it took a huve dive after reverting to a normal line.
Look kid MJ has a goat case and is unquestionably a top 10 player ever and the best to do it as the SG position. But he can't have it all. He was a lousy 3 pt shooter for the same reason he was amazing from midrange: long hands and big arms. I've only seen kawhi and KD shoot the ball well with big hands and long arms.

Thanks for giving credit to the mailman! To me he is criminally underrated due to never playing for title winning Team. With one title in the 90s he probably would be top 10 All Time due to his incredible longevity.
You could have mentioned Timmy D who was a 2x First Teamer, Champ and Finals MVP in the 90s and would have been a great opponent for MJ if he hadn't retired (again).
As a Rocket fan that saw virtually every game Akeem/Hakeem played in college and the NBA, it would have been a lot of fun to see a Rockets Bulls finals (or two). Olajuwon was just a beast in those two seasons at his peak prime.

In the 90s mj missed 3.75 seasons due to retirement. So if you consider he dominant his decade while being active in just over 60% of the decade that is even more impressive. He won 3/4 championships twice with the almost 2 season break in the middle. That is also incredible.

Jordan was dominant because he was the ALPHA.. many people don't know Jordan went through a tough season in the late 80s before he dominated in the 90s... the physical era of the 80s that shaped his competitive nature, which made him very untouchable in the 90s....
and one thing that AMAZED me was, he quit for 18 months and came back to the nba winning 3 straight more... Shiiiiiii**...

Easily the most singularly dominant decade of all time and it isn’t close. And to your point, there were many other great players that played in that era. Jordan was just SO dominant it didn’t matter. Revisionist today in the form of uneducated teenagers try to minimize the competition in a desperate attempt to make the conversation between Jordan and other players seem more competitive.

Agreed. This comes from an enormously huge Stockton and Malone fan. That shot that finalized Jordan's 6th championship is a nightmare in my mind. But Jordan is the GOAT as in all time as in never a player better. The Bulls weren't unbeatable my Jazz did mess up bad in the 97/98 finals. That said Bulls didn't. Bulls in big moments didn't do that and that's why Bulls didn't get beat. Their defense was probably the best ever.
