English Translation:
That night, the moon was bright
If you looked outside, you could see people walking around
I barely climbed into bed
I was about to fall asleep
Suddenly I heard someone walking
up to my wall, to talk to me through the cracks

I asked him,

Why did you come so late?”
He answered saying,
“I am your aunt’s son

At that moment,
The wind blew, it was cold
Something smelled, it made me think
And I was afraid
There might be something weird
So I got up
I peeked outside through the cracks
To see if there was pig or dog feces
Suddenly I saw a face, it was dark
I almost made my heart drop
It bent over closer and it smelled rotten
I wasn’t sure what it was
Is that you Shong?
“Yes it’s me, Mai Ger”
“Would you be willing to come out
And stay with me for a bit?”
My heart was unsettled
So I didn’t go outside
We talked not for long
Then he left and went home
In the morning,
As I was barely waking up
,
Someone came to deliver a message
They invited us to attend Shong’s funeral
“Your aunt’s son from afar
had passed away the other day.
Because of the distance,
The news didn’t travel here until now”
It made my heart drop
Is it false or is it true?
I spoke to him just now,
How are they about to bury him already?
That night, mom and dad went to the funeral
My younger siblings went to the farm
Leaving me all by myself
It made me afraid
After eating dinner, it got dark
Outside, the sun had already disappeared
How come at our entrance gate,
There was someone standing there?
He was moaning and he was crying .
My limbs went numb
I closed the door quickly
I climbed into bed, pulled the covers over my head
I had a vision that he came and talked to me
I asked him, “Shong, didn’t you die?”
He didn’t answer, he just laughed
I looked at his face
It was full of maggots and blood was dripping
He pulled at my arm saying,
“I’m gonna take you to be my wife”
I cried hysterically, then I woke up from my vision back to earth
Did it really happen? I must call the Shaman.
The day afterwards, mom and dad came back home
I wept and cried while telling them
So they invited a shaman over.
He renamed me and hid me (spiritually).
For a while, I did follow his directions

Ever since that day, things got weird
I kept seeing Shong before I woke up
He talked about missing me
He wouldn’t stop talking about it

I didn’t tell my mom and dad
I didn’t want them to worry more
So in the end, it became too late
Shong was able to take my spirit
My life was taken away
My body rotted away
