It actually depends. I once used to play games so badly like morning till midnight. But now I can only play 1 to 5 matches in War Thunder or play less than an hour in other games and sometimes I just stare at my PC screen wondering what I would do. I have 3000 hours in Dota 2, 2000 hours in War Thunder, 1000 hours in Hearts of Iron 4, 500 hours in Transport Fever 2, 400 hours in Cities Skylines and 1000 hours in Mir4. Playing any games you like will eventually wear you down to the point you no longer want to play games. Now I only watch movies, play a little and browse the internet in my PC.

I used to play WoT for 10+ years but eventually I felt like I completed it and honestly didnt want to play any games for a while. This was like 2-3 years ago. So for long time I watched youtube and movies, maybe occasionally played some video games but not often. But this summer I started playing WT and actually started to like it a lot. So right now it's the only game I want to play, and it's nice because it's good to do something actively and not watch youtube mindlessly 24/7. I think it's normal to get bored of games that you have played for thousands of hours, but for me I'm just beginning to play WT and I feel like I'm gonna play it for a while lol.

As Old Guard for Warthunder, I've been playing... 11 years, and took one prolonged break when I got bad about it maybe halfway through that. It's not problematic. I'm a parent a maybe squeeze in a match or two a night time permitting.
I probably put about a hundred bucks a year into it, usually premium time and rarely a gimmicky premium if its on sale.
War thunder has a loop that is made to hook you, like any MMO. But having your RL sorted out will make you feel better hundredfold, and you can focus on just enjoying the game for hahah tank go brrr.
Recently started on spading all my low rank stuff I mostly skipped over way back when I started playing and have been having a blast tbf. Good vid on the topic EC.

I use video games, TH-cam, and various activities to prevent my mind from stressing over minor matters, due to my anxiety. This helps me concentrate better on the more significant aspects of life.
Many people use video games to unwind, de-stress, or cool off after their day. The problem is when individuals use games to distract themselves from more significant issues that cannot be simply relaxed away. They choose not to acknowledge these larger issues, so when video games no longer serve as a distraction for "minor" problems, they don't understand why. They refuse to believe that there could be a larger issue beyond the game because they haven't accepted it as such. Therefore, they assume that the video game is failing to fulfill its role in helping them relax and have fun.
Every time they become stressed and agitated due to life's problems, and they turn to playing WT to destress, they end up more stressed by the game itself and attribute all their stress to the game.
This is why many struggle to quit gaming and get their lives in order; they haven't yet accepted that the game itself isn't the problem.

Internet/gaming addiction is real. The other issue with WT is there’s an element of gambling addiction. You have bad game after bad game after bad game, you get frustrated, you have a good game, and all of that stress and frustration goes…and you play another game, and the cycle continues. Or you keep going in the hopes you get a good game…just one more…not quitting until I finish on a good game.
With WT being a free 2 play game, they rely on this to get players hooked, stay & spend money.

I mean I can't blame the guy for being worried, Romania is basically the front line of a potential ww3, a war that we have never been closer to having in most of our lifetimes. And a place like Romania is one of the first countries to get nuked next to places like Sweden, Finland and Poland.

Being into politics really does NOT mean that you are negative. Politics can be a vessel for positive change, some of the most positive and selfless people I know are huge activists. Don't say politics are negative - they can be certainly, but ideally they aren't.

I feel like the best thing to do is to just stop playing for like 2 months every now and then, obviously addiction is a mean and cringey way to put it, but the game can be quite the drag if you play it all the time. I say addiction is a dumb way to put it, because really things such as instagram, Facebook, and Twitter are way worse, I honestly hope they get banned as platforms as they cause very difficult mental issues. War thunder just gets you frustrated and acts as like the final straw.

    OTOH-
Games like WT can be dangerous to people with depression because it throws your brain chemistry around like a rag doll. The frustration and impediments it throws in your way can trigger depressive episodes.
The OP you're reading might have been "rage posting", but he's not wrong. The way Gaijin runs WT is quite toxic. Its not designed to be "just fun" as in fly around or shoot tanks, Gaijin intentionally throws roadblocks into your way to induce monetization.

I don't love War Thunder, its probably just a skill issue on my end. I'm not terribly good at it. That being said, I don't hate it. I come back to it because i enjoy the vehicle combat. It can be a fun, I personally kind of agree with the guy saying that Gaijin does try and get you to buy the premiums. I've caved to it before and bought the M1A1 AIM, but now that i've almost completely gotten done with the US ground tree, I don't use it anymore because frankly I don't need to. I don't buy stuff in games generally because I don't want to end up spending all of my money on basically a PNG of an M1A1, $60 USD is a lot for a single vehicle plus some premium account time and back-ups. At that point you're buying a solid copy of a game, and I'd rather spend that money on necessities or on a new game i might want to give a try. If a game is free-to-play then that's how I'm going to play it (unless the devs make it pay-to-win, which is what WT feels like sometimes, if its pay-to-win i'm just going to drop it). I find that stepping away from War Thunder for a time can be helpful (not to your skill, but your view and opinion of the game). If War Thunder becomes more than what it is, a game, a leisure activity, it can get dangerous to you. Thats my 2 cents.

I think in the past 3 years I spent close to 200$ on warthunder. I used to spent alittle more. But I got so sick of their game I play it now only when friends ask.. I rather spent money on anything else. I just spent 30 because. I’m wanted the F-14 and the moment I spent that 30$ on the prem f-4 I was like what a phuckin waste of god damn money soon as I get this F-14 I am going pledge to never send a penny to them

TheEuropeanCanadian: "Warthunder addiction is not real, it can't hurt you"
Also, the TheEuropeanCanadian: "I have made ~8000 Warthunder videos over the last 10 years."
It's a bit rich, when somebody who obviously chose to bury a large part of their life in a video game start grandstanding about how "it's just your own fault, just figure it out and don't blame the game". While yes, you spending your time doing something, reflects your need, its kind a worthless truism to say "snap out of it, it's not the games fault", it's as if the "stop playing plead" triggers some negative emotion that might be worth investigating and take ownership off?

How timely. I have about $2k and 2300 hours in chundy since 2013. So much has happened in that time intervening - ive taken years-long breaks without meaning to, until i came back in 2018 after a lot of life disasters. Im doing okay in life as far as passive income streams and family life, but i want to increase my income. I love jets and military equipment generally, but a week ago i just said im done with gaming - im almost 40 and still playing videogames. So i uninstalled Steam. It feels a little better, but im still stressing about getting life stuff done. Removing that distraction did help, FWIW

That ending note was amazing - stop blaming video games for your own problems, sort it out yourself. Exactly the attitude that needs to be understood by most people today, rather than sitting in a echo chamber of other negative people on social media. The world isn't out to get you, it doesn't know you exist, so sort your own life out because no one will do it for you. I mean that sounded pretty doomer but its the truth. Find something you do like about yourself, lean into that, find something you don't like, work on that. Rinse, repeat, always look to improve, never take anything for granted.
Thanks for the jump scare, I like this channel and thought you were saying you were quitting War Thunder on me 🤣

You can spend 15-20 minutes in a game, and your reward for the time spent is twice the amount of getting 10 kills.
And i agree with you f2p is absolutely horrendous at the moment, the only way to progress at a decent rate is premium account and talismans

I dont agree with the escapism part of this video. there are many people who are in positions in life where its not so simple to just blame them for having a bad time in life and that they're putting everything off. a lot of kids go through this with using video games as escapism. mom and dad are fighting and screaming up the house and its a daily occurrence. what is the kid suppose to do? go in and break up the fights? make them going marriage counseling? run away from home? well the kid has to do something right? they need to take responsibility for the problem in their life. they shouldn't be doing something like playing video games, they're just kicking the can down the road. you see the problem with just using this line of logic as a universal truth?
