I met Ice T years ago here in Chicago. He was with his brother Donald and about ten other guys. Ice T conversed with me and my friends for about ten minutes. He shook our hands and went his way. He's a down to earth person. Real talk!

@@azk8584 Well, I don't think that it was fake. Ice T and his people could've stayed somewhere safe but chose to move around in a city that will chew you up and spit you out. He and his people showed no fear and carried themselves like players. It was a positive conversation. Sorry to disappoint you.

He was cool. I respect that. Professionally, I've done personal security for a lot of well known people. Some were cool and a few were assholes. When I met Ice T , I wasn't even at work. I was at a club kickin it. Feel me?

I think Ice-T got respect from metal bands and metal heads because he was already using the music on rap cds. Then does the full band and they were actually legit. I know my first thought was when they broke was "oh sh* Ice T doing a metal band, this ought to be interesting" then I heard " There goes the neighborhood" and I was sold it was legit.
@imuglierthanyou He had used Slayer and Black Sabbath samples in his earlier rap days so he professed his love and being influenced by Slayer, Black Sabbath, and Suicidal Tendencies before that song started on the album and then killed that cover of Raining Blood. They've also done a great cover of Jimi Hendrix's Hey Joe, and I'd call it an homage to Suicidal Tendencies Institutionalized.

The real first West Coast rapper to hit the national scene. I was in Kansas City listening to Colors, 6 In The Morning, I'm Your Pusher. NWA came out after Ice T. They were dope too though.
I met Ice-T in 1992 in da nati and I wrote my first rhyme listening to the power album. I said yo ice the album and new jack was dope and he said word and thanks little g. The other time I was in awe is when I met 2-pac after his concert in 1994.

I turn to real heroes like you to define how I act at my lowest points. This mans commitment and honesty to self has always been a guiding light in my own life. He ain't Jesus he ain't overly pretentious. He's just a man that was dealt a real shit hand in life and chose to give the middle finger to his cards and showed millions around the world how to be a real man. I used to be an event photographer. I covered an event at a hole in the wall club in Brooklyn. A type of place I would not be in if I was not working the event.
This was somewhere between 2004 and 2008.
One night Ice-T was there. This is rich Ice-T with a Bentley in the parking lot...in this fuck-place in Flatbush Brooklyn.
No security, no crew of folks, not hiding (sitting in one spot), no escort.
I stopped him to get a shot; generous a.f. he gave me a great shot. I say “generous” because I could see that he knew that he was giving me something; he knew this is how I earned my dime. He could have said get the fuck away from me, other celebrities have.
This dude was comfortable in his skin; and standing on his own. I can tell stories about other celebrities (rappers) who were intimidated by my little ass standing around waiting for a photo; cats so scared that they couldn’t see the big ass camera and flash in my hands.
But Ice is real. I’ve been impressed by few celebrities who struck me as real; secure; and comfortable in their skin. Tyrese is another one who is real a.f.
Not gonna name those who stuck me as weak insecure cowards; ass holes; or just plain ugly. There’s been a female or two that I’d love to trash but won’t.
I’ve gone off point. Just wanted to give personal testimony about how real this dude is.
Correction: it was 2006 to 2010...I believe.

I had the pleasure to meet Ice T on a set of a movie that he and other stars did in Europe in 97 or 98. It was exact like he said... we were expecting that he will be this hardcore gangsta hating on all people... but he was the nicest and down to earth person. Where the other stars had to have bodyguards..with no reason... a mercedes 500 had to wait in front of the trailer with a started engine for the whole day and bring that one person to the set that was about 100m away... Ice just took a taxi from the hotel, no bodyguards, he went to a club, had fun, talked with us all the time, made fun.. lovely memories :)
