I'm 15 now. You can give me crap and say that, "No one cares you're 15," and a lot of other stuff. But this will be the music that I'll listen to for the rest of my life. My dad passed this type of music down to me, and I hope I get to do the same for my kids one day.
Yes, this was underrated. They have never played it live. It was intended for The Joshua Tree but left off in favor of the more upbeat Trip Through Your Wires.
It's amazing to me that a song this awesome never made it onto the radio. Definitely one of their very best & it gives me goosebumps everytime I hear it.
I introduced my brother,to U2 many years ago,he passed right before atyclb, but this was his favorite song by them,I went along time before I listened to it,was hard not to feel the loss, but now I can listen with cherished memories, tomorrow isn't promised to any of us,if you love them ,tell them so!
I've literally had this song on repeat on Windows Media Player for the past eight hours, and I am STILL not tired of it. It is an excellent song, and probably the most underrated song and most unheard song by U2. What a beautiful piece of work!
I was very young when my dad introduced me to U2. People's music tastes may change as they get older but U2 will always be one of the bands I will always love, even after they split. I hope I can get my future children to love them as much as I have for the past 12 years or so too.
4 ever the best band on world..bono simply a poet...a legend...never exist a band like thet..u2 lives 4 ever on world..time pass but simply the best..love from portugal..paul
Agreed, this has been one of my favourite R&H song. Everytime i listen to it i've got tears in my eyes and feel completely melancholic - no other song manages this after such a long time.
Glorious. I´m a progrock lover, which is another level of music, but still Love U2. And this song is incredible, mixing sensations of missing past and the hopeful future...and much more than this. Amazing.
Full credit to you for putting on some great photos. Oh man, thank you. This is one of my favourite U2 songs, and those photos blended beautifully. Again thanks heaps. If I could, I'd shout you a full glass of Guiness Stout! And a juicy hamburger to boot. How's that? Huh? On ya' buddy.
One of my all time favorite songs. It is so perfectly made and under rated songs off the Rattle and Hum albums. This song sticks in my head for days and I get goose bumps everytime I listen to it.
We are so grateful for your life BONO and your IRELAND- nothing in this world will ever change the meaning of how much we love you and your life- its so IRISH ☘️ the way we need it and you, Happy BIRthday as always and success to you... May God bless Ireland to you as we always do green white and gold -
See the sunrise over her skin Don't change it. See the sunrise over her skin Dawn changes everything, everything. And the delta sun Burns bright and violent. Mississippi and the cotton wool heat Sixty-six - a highway speaks Of deserts dry Of cool green valleys Gold and silver veins All the shining cities In this heartland In this heartland In this heartland. Heaven knows This is a heartland. Heartland, our heartland. See the sunrise over her skin She feels like water in my hand Freeway, like a river Cuts through this land Into the side of love Like a burning spear And the poison rain Brings a flood of fear Through the ghostranch hills Death Valley waters In the towers of steel Belief goes on and on In this heartland In this heartland In this heartland Heaven knows This is a heartland.
U2 in their prime, jesus, they were second to none. Incredible vocal, stunning guitar, always were the ones to beat. Maybe they should have stopped a few years ago to keep the purity of what they achieved but who knows.....
This song was playing as I drove over the bridge to get to the Outer Banks. Sun was rising as I had been driving all night, meeting a beautiful oliive skinned woman. Perfect week. Perfect song
I remember this song so much, I made a mix tape with this on for my girlfriend, ( now my wife of 20 yrs ), and played it over and over. Eighties U2 when they were at their absolute best b4 everyone decided they all had to save the planet an sell out!!
@whelanttt they are like the best wine in the world best at the beginning but growing even beyond comparason with the years thank god if there ever was one for giving us these angel like inspired artists. everytime you think theyre tired of it they come back and blow me away again. i feel proud and blessed i saw them twice already in concert . they are sooooo much even better live than on record. proof of theyre true geniality the more you study them the better they get what messages...
Hundreds-- and thousands-- of years from now, the bands that will be most remembered from our time are The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and U2.
I've been playing a lot of Red Dead Redemption 2 lately. There's a region there called The Heartlands, and every time I see that written down, I hear this song's chorus in my head. It's quite fitting because it's one of the regions you visit a lot in the early game, when things are a lot happier than they end up. It's got a nice vibe of reminiscing about it, which is really appropriate right now. Great great song.
See the sun rise over her skin Don't change it See the sun rise over her skin Dawn changes everything Everything And the delta sun Burns bright and violent Mississippi and the cotton wool heat Sixty-six, a highway speaks Of deserts dry Of cool, green valleys Gold and silver veins Of the shining cities In this heartland In this heartland soil In this heartland Heaven knows this is a heartland Heartland, heartland See the sun rise over her skin She feels like water in my hand Freeway like a river cuts through this land Into the side of love Like a burning spear And the poison rain Brings a flood of fear Through the ghost-ranch hills Death valley waters In the towers of steel Belief goes on and on In this heartland In this heartland soil In this heartland Heaven knows this is a heartland Heartland, heaven knows this is a heartland Heartland, heartland Heartland, heaven's day here in the heartland Heart
Beautiful song brings back memories where does time go ,first seen u2 in eighty four at the Sydney entertainment centre next was vertigo then 360 and its now 2018 fucking scary !
Ok guys, if you think this song has to do with Ireland, then you're not understanding the lyrics. T his is clearly a song about America. If you live in America and listen to the lyrics, you'll see why immediately. The references to highway 66, dry deserts, Mississippi,Death Valley (California), and even the title itself (Heartland) are things that clearly describe the US. Last time I checked, there was no Mississippi, Death Valley, dry deserts, or HW 66 in Ireland.
Here the lyrics: See the sun rise over her skin Don't change it See the sun rise over her skin Dawn changes everything Everything And the delta sun Burns bright and violet Mississippi and the cotton wool heat Sixty-six, a highway speaks Of deserts dry Of cool green valleys Gold and silver veins Of the shining cities In this heartland In this heartland soil In this heartland Heaven knows this is a heartland Heartland, heartland See the sun rise over her skin She feels like water in my hand Freeway like a river cuts through this land Into the side of love Like a burning spear And the poison rain Brings a flood of fear Through the ghost-ranch hills Death valley waters In the towers of steel Belief goes on and on In this heartland In this heartland soil In this heartland Heaven knows this is a heartland Heartland, heaven knows this is a heartland Heartland, heartland Heartland, heaven's day here in the heartland Heart

By far the most underrated of U2's songs. Amazing.
You dont know anything.
Underrated? Haha no. It was very popular. But if we talk about later 20 years many half-fans probably haven't listened to it yet
Most underrated? I dunno man, there's just about the whole B side of the Joshua Tree.
Yes, this was underrated. They have never played it live. It was intended for The Joshua Tree but left off in favor of the more upbeat Trip Through Your Wires.
+James Ervin This is more underrated than One Tree Hill or In God's Country from the B side of TJT.
U2 is the vessel of the Joshua Tree - an epic and timeless album. The songs in this album are forever truly amazing works of art. and poetry.
'Heartland', '3 Sunrises', and 'A Sort of Homecoming' are my fave U2 songs.
Heartland, red hill minning town, a sort of homecoming, lemon and ultra violet are my top five.

It's alarming how many underrated songs U2 wrote. Are there not more people with good taste?
Glorious.
I´m a progrock lover, which is another level of music, but still Love U2.

una de las mejores canciones de la historia, ...en serio. viva u2
TREMENDO tema como canta el GRAN MAESTRO BONO, y The Edge soberbio con los coros cada vez que escucho esta canción me emociono.

touches me every time ,it talks to my soul ,an all i do is weep ,oh what are you saying to me .
Amazing
I've heard that this song was originally written for The Joshua Tree album! It might've also been recorded during those sessions as well.
It was written about the time of The Unforgettable Fire actually..
i really hope they play this on the upcoming JT Tour...such a great song!

best song ever by the best band in the world.
Haven't heard this song in years....man, you just want to roll one up and look at the setting sun while sitting on the summit of a mountain.
Perfect song
Defintiely THE hidden gem in the entire U2 cannon...
This song wasn´ t included in the Joshua tree, an huge mistake in my opinion,
Because it was written during joshua tree tour 1987 and joshua tree album was written during spring 1986
It certainly should be on the album
Why, it certainly didn't effect sales did it?
Som de apaixonar várias vezes em vida
Gorgeous song.
