Ever since I first discovered fountain pens at ate 10, I always wanted a fountain pen that had a built in filler rather than a cartridge-converter system. They were always out of my budget. So I had my three pens a Parker Vector, a Parker Frontier, and a Cross of some kind. The Vector (my first pen) disappeared in one of my moves. In my mid-thirties, I remembered that dream I'd had years ago of a self-filling fountain pen. I was in a stable financial place by then, so I did a search. Most of them were far more expensive than I wanted to pay for a pen. But the Noodler's Nib Creaper was quite affordable. This is the model that moved me beyond those three pens and Parker Quink Black to the pen collecting and ink hoarding fool that I am today!
It IS the affordability of the pen that elevates it a bit. It makes it possible to try a pen of this size and for experimenting with a piston filler. Huge bonus. I had mentioned in other comments that having this pen gave me confidence in how the Kaweco 475 would feel in up hand. Purchased from Uberpen, back when they were Uberpens.
There are a ton of pens that are fully 'better' for sure so you likely aren't missing anything. It does let someone get the feel of a vintage piston filler though. I have a Kaweco 475 That isn't very different in dimensions.
I have two Nib Creapers and have bought more to give away as gifts. Love it. Take it to work with me. Never had the skipping issues. I have the Jade and Ivory finishes. Both very nice. The size remind me of an ball point pens my dad carried in his shirt pocket. The click ones. Silver and metal. A heart logo maybe???…what brand was that? Can’t remember. So the NC also leaves me with a touch of nostalgia for the old school feel.
Heart logo is Papermate, I think. (Have tried to avoid ballpoint pens for the last 10 years. 😁) An easy to work on "vintage" pen with the ballpoint vibe is the Parker 45. Cartridge converter, and you can get it reasonably, even less than the Nib Creeper, with enough patience.
I have yet to get a Noodler's pen outside of the free Charlie that I got with a bottle of Heart of Darkness. Not out of any dislike of the brand or anything like that, but because I've been able to get vintage gold nibbed, great pens for around the same price. Will I ever get a Noodler's pen at all? Sure. I'm consistently looking at several. And the brand that I consistently hear that actually makes them for Noodler's. 🤫 (The nib sound seems to be common for certain Indian brands.) It's all about the writing experience for me, so I can get past this one skipping, if it's unique enough. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this pen! Infamous inks should also include the higher alkaline inks that are the actual culprits of melting vintage style ink sacs, rather than the much maligned more acidic. Highly saturated dyes seem a problem, too, with staining, as well as certain colours.
If you ae already into vintage pens then this isn't for you! It feels similar, in dimensions, as my Kaweco 475. Having this pen I felt confident I could enjoy the Kaweco.

At 8:36, I think you messed up that line but it was funny to hear it over and over again.

I've not had an experience with the nib creeper and i think i haven't missed anything. So I'll keep it that way.
