    This is a great ride. Did it several years ago. Stopped in Roanoke VA to go to DC. Been wanting to finish the Parkway.

    I ran the entire length of the BRPW and Skyline Drive from S to N solo in Jun '17 and with my GF in Mar '19. It was extremely foggy and we came across another bike at one of the pull offs that looked terrified. I was riding a very lite up Goldwing and let him know that he could follow us. He did until we exited the BRPW to get fuel. He stayed there out of the fog and we returned to the BRPW and continued our ride north. We camped in one of the campsites in Shenandoah NP. Great trip. Can't wait to do it again.

    Great video, loved the commentary. Thanks.
    A few years ago, wife and I were on the Parkway going through the Balsams in May, and we found snow and ice high above Waynesville, NC.

    I live in northeastern Tennessee not far from the Tail of the Dragon. It's not my first choice to ride by a long shot, but it's a novelty for many. There are so very many wonderful rides right here near my house in the Tri-cities area. My wife and I ride two-up 99% of the time and we are looking for much forward to riding the entire Blue Ridge Parkway. We've only lived here for two years, so we have a lot of riding to do. I've been in every state except Alaska and I think I'd rank northeastern Tennessee as the finest riding I've ever encountered! There are a lot of phenomenal rides across the country, but this area is just superb!! Of course, it all depends on what kind of riding you like. That's just my take on it.
    I really enjoyed your video! I'm going to check out what else you have. I always love to see great rides others do and possibly add them to my own bucket list of rides. Thank you for sharing! It's a bit unfortunate that the weather didn't really cooperate for you, but I bet you'll ride it again! Ride safe and thanks again!

      @@fonzmotorcycleacademy there was only one closure, between Northwest Trading Post through Doughton Park (Sp) the detour was a nice route though. Other than that, it was great.

    Hot off the press...
    Work has begun on a project to replace Laurel Fork Bridge at milepost 248.8 in Ashe County, which will require drivers to detour between mileposts 248.1 and 258.7.
    The road will be closed to motorists, bicyclists and hikers.
    The signed detour will involve N.C. 18, N.C. 16, N.C. 88 and Trading Post Road at Glendale Springs.

    Just did the south end on May 25th. Foggy cold wet and sunny. Great ride. Hiked Waterrock knob for a warm up.

    Great video I was looking for some of this info glad I found it! In Good conditions do you think this can be done in under 14 hours? I'm planning to hopefully run the whole thing late September Early October trying to see if I can do it in two days. Should I just plan a third to take my time or you think 2 is reasonable? (I'm on a Hyper naked not quite as comfortable a machine as your on 6 hours is probably my max a day) Do you recommend doing the whole thing or is there a better starting and stopping point to maximize enjoyment?

    • @fonzmotorcycleacademy
      @fonzmotorcycleacademy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, I'm glad I was able to help. The length of time it will take you is all dependant on how many stops you make. Two days is enough, but 3 days will be even better because you can come off the ridge and explore. I recommend the WHOLE thing. Enjoy!

      Only one commercial area, Little Switzerland, NC. It is very close to the Parkway. It has nice motel, restaurant and a tiny village. All other services usually require you to leave the Parkway and drive to a town. You will enjoy the ride!

    How did you manage gas stops on the parkway?

    • @fonzmotorcycleacademy
      @fonzmotorcycleacademy  ปีที่แล้ว

      I started with a full tank, then would start looking on my NAV when I was around 100 miles. That would give me plenty of a cushion. Don't cut it close because you'll have to get off the parkway to fuel up. I'm usually good for about 200 miles per tank.
