Hello there, I was an RA for a year here at University of Alaska Anchorage. It was alright, housing and meal plan was free and was able to get paid hours up to 20 hours per week. However, my major was demanding and required me to watch my schedule often/change and often had to miss out on social activities too. So it was a lot but if money is hard to come by then being an RA isn't too bad. I'd recommend it.
As an orientation leader I highly recommend it! its such a fun experience and it helps you make a lot of connections with staff members at your school and you meet a lot of new people working as an OL. If you're a science person and your school hires students as lab assistants, I also recommend that because you can easily make that work well with your class schedule
What would you recommend for a student moving to Chicago for school who needs to work enough to pay rent and utilities and also have enough time for school?
