When you keep focusing on details like 'the hits make zero contact', is that the professional in you complaining that they didn't do a good job selling those punches? Or is it just you being like 'punches in fiction are obviously no contact' and just trying to share your wisdom with the audience?
I have done a fair bit of stunt training and fight choreography, so I do know how some of these moves are coordinated. When matched with the the sound effects and the speed of the shot and the body placement, the fact that the hits don’t make contact isn’t very noticeable. But because I’ve been taught how they are done, and I analyze shows and movies so often, I can’t help but notice little things like that and see that no contact was actually made. This was of course during the editing process when I can see this stuff frame by frame so it certainly would be easier to see. Of course, this limited contact is for the safety of the actors and is essentially choreography. It’s just the training in me that pinpoints small things like that. I love the fight sequences in the show and think they are beautifully done.
