fun fact: At the fastest, the power required to raise an 80 kg person is 14400 Watts. let say there are 10 people in the elevator. This would mean 144 Kilowatts just to lift the people alone. That's not considering the weight of the elevator itself too which easily adds another 180 Kilowatts too, and efficiency. The elevator can easily use 324 Kilowatts just to operate the elevator.

      Half true:
      Elevators have counter weights.
      At least its own weight

This thing travels almost 3550 FPM going up!!! This is how I found that: 18MPS x 60 = 1080MPM, then convert to feet to get 3543.307FPM
Going down, it travels 1968.5 FPM. (10MPS x 60 = 600MPM then converting to feet)

I am bad at math so I appreciate this. Makes you realize how fast you are going.

It's not the fastest elevator in the world man.
Chinese always say they are the best in the world all over any other country, but in fact, that's fu*kin lie dude.

Which is faster now? Lotte Tower I believe is at the same speed. CTF Guangzhou is 20m/sec but no video shows that yet. And I think they modded the center OB elevator in Shanghai Tower to also reach 20m/sec., so as far as I know, yes these actually are the fastest. Unless you count mining elevators and other lifts I suppose.
