Great Video, Amy! This is not only a pretty straight forward upgrade but a high-value one as well. I did it to my Sirius EQ-G as well!

Excellent upgrade from the standard vixen saddle. The point of contact with the dovetail bar is greatly enhanced with the ADM saddle, and also eliminates the horrid scoring of the dovetail bar from the two screws in the standard vixen saddle.

I've upgrade both of my mounts with these saddles and love them.

    Another excellent video, Amy.
    Two comments:
    - I imagine you can avoid dismantling the new saddle by using the short leg of the allen wrench instead of the long end.
    - It's a good idea to ensure that the three grub screws are tightened equally. Doesn't have to be perfect, but the closer they are to being equal the more centered the saddle will be.

I found an Orion Sirius EQ-G with hand controller and 8" Orion Newtonian OTA at a Goodwill for...$250!!!!!! Deal of the century hehe.

Great video Amy! Can I also do this with my Sky-Watcher NEQ5 mount?

Beatrice Heinze yes you can. I changed the saddle on my sky watcher EQ6 R the same way. 10 minute improvement.

A little trick for anyone who's going to do this.. take a marker and mark the location of at least one of the holes in the top of that ADM collar. If you are leaving the full saddle assembled just place the mark on the top of the saddle itself. And of course remove one of the grub screws and then taking a allen wrench you can run it down the hole so that at contacts that point in the collar to hold it in place while you tighten up the other remaining grub screws until they contact into the collar then replace the final grub screw and tighten all three of them down.

Amy can the adm head hold (clamp) a mini dove vixen bar, I have a mini vixen bar that does not fit my other mounts.

No I do not think that would work with this saddle. Check ADM they may have an option for you.

Hi Amy, I was wondering how you control your mount with the AAP? I just acquired a 12 year old Sirius EQ-G in great condition. Only thing is I haven’t been able to get it to talk to my AAP. I may not have gotten the correct EQMOD cable, and I had also tried connecting it with the hand controller using an RJ11 with no luck. Thanks for any advice
    Lou

I have an eqmod cable purchased from Shoestring astronomy that works well with this mount. I have also used the Lynx astro one from first light optics in the UK. Hope you find one. I never got the hand controller to work.
