DEI against fascism?! Isn't DEI by definition fascist? A union between the state and private sector. Government incentives not through laws but through obedient companies.
No. The phrase you're looking for is party-state capitalism. This is how China operates (both Chinas, that is) If anything, DEI is anti-fascist due to its divisiveness and animosity towards the majority.
@@T_K7 What is the "second" china? DEI seams to be implemented in a fascist way (pushed through corporations). What you are saying (divisiveness towards the majority), it does seam like oppressing the majority is a more "communist revolutionary" move, where oppressing the minority is a more fascist, rallying the masses, centralize power, kinda move. You are right in that way I guess. Either way it's a power grab by the elites enacted by useful idiots. It's a sad thing you have going on in the US. And it affects the rest of the world.
It's natural to fight the majority before the revolution, before solidifying power. And after fight the minority (dissenters). One thing I noticed though when they were using Vala (I'm not sure if they still are) is that I basically couldn't find ways to debug stuff and step through code to actually find the cause of the bugs in localisation I was seeing.
What to you want to bet that part or all of what broke up the founders was the extremism of Danielle Fore? And now look at what's become of the distro.
The founder drafted some idiocy and then decided against it. Sounds good. All the rest amounts to private musings about desktop Linux by someone who happens to develop a distro. Not using proprietary software Twitter is a good thing, as you will have to agree. 8:50 "It seems from his posts that anyone centrist is a far right extremist, as far as Dan Fore is concerned", is something you crafted. 13:17 Here you claim the founder is "extraordinarily exclusionary" and then "they say other people are not welcome, if you are conservative, you are not welcome to be part of whatever elementary is". Where is the evidence of this? There is nothing done here that isn't in the realm of what is at most irrelevant mental illness to creating a distro, and more importantly none of it is in the distro. So why Lunduke, are you trying to frame elementary OS for something that is private opinion? Your espoused beliefs don't align.

Isn't DEI by definition fascist? A union between the state and private sector. Government incentives not through laws but through obedient companies.
Bingo. I'm surprised more people don't notice this.
But the result is fascist if it looks like china (as you said) with semi-private companies, which is more long term stable I guess. And communist if the central power attempts to own all means of production. That failed so many times that I can't imagine any elite planing to attempt that.
Who in their right mind actually uses elementary as anything more than "load into the live distro, poke around a bit, think it looks nice but realize that it's all form over function, then load another distro"
Like I can't remember a single person online who has said they daily drive elementary.
I mean they were trying their best to ape Mac OS, and we all know Mac fanboys are a bit... fruity. I'm not surprised this happened.
Elementary was the worst distro I ever used, period.
Has there ever been a time in human history where mental illness was as rampant as it is now?
Yeah, Germany 1939-1945. You suck, snowflake, keep whining about other people please, your whining is endlessly entertaining.
Maybe you should turn the question around: Why do so many abandoned mental asylums exist today?
There's a reason comparisons with the Weimar Republic are only becoming more common.
It is useful to note that it's getting more common mainly in rich countries and amongst privileged groups, where citizens have all their needs fulfilled so they have time for craziness, with little consequences.
@@T_K7 Hopefully we'll get a better version of Mustache Man this time.
I picked up on this at the very beginning of Elementary when it was just a theme.
What can you expect from a MacOS clone
The other one from China (Deepin) doesn't seem to have those issues

This is great news ! Now we can have one DEI distro and the rest can go back to normal.
Really a shame. I remember when you interviewed Mr. Daniel Foré. Everything looked so promising back then.
Can someone please explain to folks like Dan, or whatever his name is, what a dictionary is? They continue to misuse words like "Inclusion", "Fascist", and "Violence".
Which distro hasn’t gone off the deep end now? I have been using Linux since 2002 and I am set in my ways. But I also would prefer supporting healthy projects
Thank empty Heaven above for Danielle and Elementary. I was just lamenting to my therapist the other day that transmisogynistic UI/UX design makes me feel very unsafe and about how badly we need more queer and marginalized group-affirming operating systems.
They should call it something like Wokeos; to make it concise and for clarity. Honestly, I think an OS should be political/religious neutral and just focus on how it can help you compute.
That's only if you're also a capitalist. Communist societies are run based on unity, and that requires political boundaries.
It's open source. You can make it whatever you want. That's the magic of open source.
If any one wants to use it, that's another thing. But devs shouldn't limit themselves to any rule.
@@ronilevarez901 The whole point is actually for DEVELOPERS to collaborate with whoever they want. You are not entitled to control their ideas about software or whom you think they should or should not collaborate with. As a user, you can either use it or not, it's that simple.
Don't give Disney more ideas
Politics in a Linux distro, especially one that is viewed unfavorably by the masses is a good way to ensure people never use your distro.
DEI apparently actually means DIE lol
Wow so Daniel Fore is the reason I found "Switched to Linux" and started watching his videos.
I'm surprised there is even bigger DEI than GNOME
Have you heard about Nix?
Sorry, what is it now about Gnome? I use it and had no idea it's DEI infected. Please tell me about it. I'll quickly switch over to something else.

"Take that fascists!" was wild. As if anyone was pushing for fascism to begin with

SS OS - the operating system for getting things done.
the final solution to distrohopping
Want something that will smoke every other os until it’s dust in the wind? Then try SS OS. The superior operating system that works harder and is 88% more efficient than any other Debian, Red Hat or Ubuntu based Linux distribution. It is supreme in every way, and won’t let you down. Available with multiple desktop spins in either Red, Black, White or Tri-Color if you really want max performance. Try it today!
Desktop somehow corellate with gender?amazing)
Desktop is my pronoun bigot.
I am a bad person. My PCs are all addressed as "he". So are my trucks. Ugly but functional!
its on the systemd by default list, and therefore i wasn't going to use it anyway.
Let the be a DEI magnet, cleansing our distros. Salut!
I'm pondering over running an X server with real Motif/Xlib/Xawt/Openlook apps, like real men did in the good ol' times
Oh you're one of those free thinkers who just want their OS to effectively run the apps you want to run and get out of the way. New times, dawg; you're OS requires you join in on the message!
@@411DL 🤣😂🙃😂🤣
I remember one time Daniel appeared on your channel and you both had a good ol' time talking about OS stuff. He appeared quite normal and stable. It's weird how some tech guys catch this hysteria and just lose it altogether. Same thing happened with Anthony from Linus Tech Tips. One day he announced he was now "Emily" and made all his colleagues call him that from then on.
Little known fact: Elementary OS 8 is now one of the few distros without man.
They used to be, but now they're changed gender like some animal but not naturally.
Should call it "Periodic OS" then...
Sources?
Not true there are no women coding operating systems. All crossdressing men
That's actually a good thing. We shall fuel the idea that any DEI/Woke people MUST use this distro. Using any other OS/distro automatically makes you a fascist. Hopefully this both removes them from normal distros, and also fuel conflicts among those Woke distros like this, Asahi and NixOS, so they are too busy fighting each other.
Finally my os was always racist to me
The distro that wants to be MacOS is diverse. Got it.
This is probably wrong but Bryan keeps dead naming him and I keep laughing.

Omg I honestly hope all these crazy activists stay developing on just this one distro and don't infect normal open source!
so, if I get it right, this is an OS made by ... one person ? That doesn't sound sustainable.
I see this year is the Year of the Transux Desktop.
That sounds like some burlesque trans name, might want to think a different one
What does an 'inclusive design' even entail? What is the ui just filled with rainbow colors?
I read from their blogpost - that means "Accessibility features". So nothing crazy there.
Was almost considering trying it out, this video convinced me to never touch it with a 10 foot pole. Thanks!
Sometimes I wish DEI stopped at things that are actually helpful like features for blind people
this is an extreme case, it's just a matter of time before it crumbles.

Perhaps thats why they call it Elementary. 😂
How can we get more people to our distro?
I know! let's spread hate to potential users that are majority, what could go wrong?
Elementary has some bleading edge techology that is impressive. When I tried a total of 14 distros using Ventoy multi boot USB. It was the only distro that didn't boot up in live. It detected that I was conservative and refused to boot in my computer.
Yeah, I wouldn't even bother trying Elementary OS even in my VMs. It's like woke malware that needs to be avoided at all costs.
This is like a really warped episode of Barney and Friends.
Prediction: There will be tumbleweeds blowing through Elementary OS before very long. Anyone this obnoxious about their politics needs to lighten up just a touch and slow down a tick.
When everything became political, the last thing i would expect it to go along with it was the IT community especially people who deep in the trenches of codes and techicallity. Boy was i wrong about that
That’s because the most deranged members of society are likely to rather spend time before a computer than outside with other people. So what are they likely to study when choosing a career?
An OS I will never use, period. Might as well rename it "Rainbow OS, now with more gayness".
Jump up and down and overly amplify things that don't matter to anyone and you're going to catch more flak. Then complain about the flak as if its hate and not just because you're being annoying, to double down on your jumping up and down... repeat.
I tried elementary os a few years ago. I can't say I was impressedl. It's no Hanna Montana linux . 🤣

"O feel safe, I matter, bla bla"
So, it has backdoors.
Ok.
I'm not familiar with pools, but at 11:18 isn't 68 + 50 + 32 more than 100%?
It probably allowed multiple choices.
So 68% on first item means: 68% of participants checked it, and so on.
Yes but what if you identify as 150% of the population ?
Those are probably he values of how many people voted that option.
So, they just have.... 150 users who care and none of them want the DEI? lol
As a "Fascist", I'm going to use it and troll the developer....I'm might do a "Fascist" spin of it lol
I used to use and pay for elementary OS, but haven't had my personal computer up and running for quite a while. I really did enjoy it, but there were some things that bugged me up until eOS 5, including some odd bugs. I haven't used it for a while, but it was pretty neat.
I don't care about politics much, so I may try it again when I stop working from home, but I doubt I'll end up financially supporting it. Certainly it had some good design language.
So they shaved their head and wear a bkue plastic bracelet?
DEI ain't dying Lunduke, they are just shifting it back into the shadows, heck they are now even calling it BRIDGE.
