@@donnahedgepeth8942 I agree but some people who commented can’t stand his voice and I don’t know why. I love making these videos because I learn so much more than just the story that is told when I research for video clips to add to the story.

Oh what a voice Paul Harvey had when I was young I worked construction each day at noon Paul Harvey came on during our lunch ,so we were working and Paul Harvey came on and we thought we were late for lunch so we stopped listened and had our lunch about an hour later Paul Harvey came on again so we had our second lunch apparently we we close enough to the up of Michigan which is on eastern time someone changed the radio station which was on central time not even the boss complained about the 2nd lunch and in the afternoon it was the rest of the story with Paul Harvey he was our official time clock those story's were so good!.
I'm so glad everyone is enjoying these videos! Some of them take me more than 10 hours to research and find clips or images to bring the story to life. In some cases, like the Cracker Jack story, it's almost impossible to find actual videos or pictures related to the story. When that happens, I do my best to use visuals that fit the mood, even if they’re not directly tied to the story. For example, the boxing scene with the two kids is actually from a video made in the 70s. I always aim to make the best videos possible, but I’m human and sometimes make mistakes. I really appreciate it when viewers point those out-it helps me improve and keeps the channel fun and accurate for everyone! Thanks for all your support!
I can remember sitting and listening to Paul each afternoon with my mother. I also remember her stories about her father working on the Duke's boat. My grandfather was a marine carpenter and was restoring all the woodwork on the boat. John often dropped by to check on the work and would share a drink and a chat with my grandfather. My favorite story was that John told my grandfather he was free to access the liquor cabinet in his absence...but only after the day's work was done.
I grew up with Paul and when I was in my 40’s I thought the man was immortal. Now, without him the world seems less comfortable. I didn’t realize how grounded this man was until he was gone.
I Used too drive 17- Miles, through City Traffic, in Sacramento, Ca. Back in the Nineties.... It would take about 45- minutes. ! But Even Though, I was Hot; Hungry + Tired... If I Had Paul Harvey on the program, on KFBK...News Radio! But I would Stay in the car for another fifteen minutes, if need- be, And Finish Hearing it, until it was done !
Interesting 🤔 I always thought of his horse in his early movies. The name Duke waa a recurring theme throughout his life. He was not only a great man on the screen, but was one off the screen as well.
Ironically, John "Duke" Wayne, "the skinny boy with a girl sounding name," is one of the most popular and well known actors of all time and the other boy, "the bully," is a forgotten footnote in the sands of time.
How many of us grew up on the Duke? I strive to be like John Wayne but I was striving to be like the image the movies created of John Wayne, and unattainable feet. But it sure made good men out of a lot of us, honest, reliable and generous! This generation needs a Duke!
@Talesforabettertomorrow Never to late to learn. I was working in SD at the time and the guys I worked with kept giving me a bad time about making that day a national holiday and wearing my Tenny- Lamas.
Duke was the Name of the White Horse in the Westerns that Marion (John Wayne) rode when he started out in the Movies.. When ever the Cowboy got captured and in trouble he would whistle and call Duke and Duke would run and get Help and bring help Back to Rescue the Cowboy.. And now that's the real Story..!
The key to “the rest of the story” was that you didn’t know who Paul Harvey was talking about. When you put the reveal in the title it rather ruins its appeal. You can do better.
I agree but when you listen on the radio you don’t have much of a choice but on TH-cam is a little different and with most videos won’t get watched without the name.
They were taught self-respect, and how to take care of themselves and others. Who teaches boys to be young men these days - no one! Which is why there are so many girlie-boys and girlie-men! Paul Harvey was one of the best. It’s sad there aren’t anymore like him.
we need another radio personality like Paul Harvey
@@krazi77 Another great talk personality I love is Mike Row from Dirty Jobs. Me is the modern day story teller with his own style.
Paul Harvey's voice is so comforting. I miss that generation.

A suiting legacy for bullies.

The 'Duke' was John Wayne. In life he was like most of the characters he played.
I miss listening to Paul Harvey. I still remember when he told the story of Colonel Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken fame. Big surprise there!
Good stuff
I would listen to Paul Harvey on my lunch break every afternoon. It was called the rest of the story.
He met Wyatt Earp when he was 17 on a movie set
Gary Cooper l believed he had a nickname ?
John Wayne fitting nickname .
I thought it was because in his acting roles he was always looking to duke it out with the bad guys.
My father and he were both born in Winterset Iowa 1907. When asked if they knew each other probably so but not as John Wayne.
He is not called "the Duke." He is simply called Duke.
Most people don't know that John Waynes birth name was Marion Michael Morrison ...

nice he got boxing leasons
"Marion" is the male version. "Marian" is the female version.
I heard they call him The Duke cause he got tired of being called The John lol
He isn’t called “The Duke”. He is called Duke. It is a nickname not a title..
"Amazong?" You might want to spellcheck your thumbnail text.
What's a "amazone"?
If Marion Morrison had grown up in today’s woke postmodern world, we would never have had John Wayne.
Amazong ???

Both these guys are gladly not here anymore. Yippee!!
wtf?
And you will not be here one day yourself. Thank God!
That video is child abuse
How so?
It’s not child abuse; it’s how many young boys become men; those things helped to make John Wayne who he was.

“The rest of the story…” I really miss that program. As a kid I listened to it every week.🧓📻
One of the MOST annoying voices in all creation.
As a kid on family trips the family would listen to Harvey and I would cringe every time!

As a child I thought he had his better moments and his worse moments. But he always sounded like a guy that knows it all. And that was irritating.
