Beautiful. I love that you not only teach us how to paint but give us hints on how to make it interesting such as not having everything the same. That is boring not only to see but to do. Thank you so much. You are so appreciated.
You are so kind! Thank you for your lovely comment, I’m so happy you enjoyed the tutorial. I appreciate you taking the time to watch today. Happy painting my friend!
I am so sorry you’re feeling discouraged, but I hope you won’t give up, you may just need a break from this particular project. If you let me know what aspect you’re struggling with maybe I can help. ❤️
Don't give up. You have your own style. Even Leisl would not be able to duplicate exactly this painting. It would be different. You will learn each time you try something. It also makes a difference if you are not using really good paper. Certain colors act differently than others. Some do wet on wet wonderfully and others just don't seem to spread. Sometimes the supplies are the problem, not you. Always view your painting from six feet away . There are days things just do not go right. My friend says only one in ten paintings is exceptional..@@AshleyMartin-f3x
Yay! 🎉 I am so happy to hear that you’re pleased with what you’ve been able to create. I truly appreciate you watching and I hope you have a fantastic weekend. Keep up the good work! 🥰
Aww, 🥰 you are so kind! Thank you for your lovely comment. I’m glad you enjoyed the painting and it was so sweet of you to notice my music. Have a wonderful day and happy painting!
Thank you so much for your tutorials. Each one is like a mini spa treatment: so relaxing and enjoyable. I am learning a lot from your demonstrations and I am also improving with each lesson. Keep up the good work.
Aww, 🥰 your lovely comment has just made my day!! I’m glad you like my tutorials and have found them helpful, that means a lot to hear. I hope you have a wonderful day! Happy painting my friend. ❤️
Hi Liesl, once again you have brightened my Thursday morning! Your painting is perfectly beautiful with such pretty and soft colours for Spring! Thank you so much lovely lady!❤ Helene
Aww, 🥰 Helene, you are always so kind! What would I do without you?! 💕 I hope you know how much I appreciate your thoughtfulness and support. I hope you have a wonderful day.
Welcome to my channel! I’m so happy you found and enjoyed this video. 🥰 I look forward to hearing from you more in the future! Take care and happy painting my new friend. 💕

So so beautiful! I’m in the process of getting supplies and trying to learn a little bit of watercolor, you make it look so easy I feel positive I’ll learn!!
I’m so happy you’re giving watercolors a try! 🥰 Don’t worry if it takes a minute to get the hang of, just like anything, it does take some practice. But I think you can definitely do it and watercolor painting is so much fun once as you get it figured out! I wish you the best of luck in your watercolor journey. Thanks for watching and happy painting my friend. ❤️
I am happy to find your site. Thank you for teaching principles and techniques of watercolor. I loved this lesson for the floral spray. I will return to watch and practice with you again.
Thanks Liesl. I always enjoy your tutorials. I think I've done 7 or 8 of your floral paintings now. In fact, I've got 5 hanging on the same wall in my hall and they look great. I really must do a landscape though or I'll be losing my touch. 🥰 x
Wow, Liesl! This is so Springy! It does look like so much fun and all the colors you chose are so perfect! You really have an eye for pigment combinations! I like how you tested your paints. Are some of the colors copies of the other two palettes you showed at the beginning? Also, I was wondering how heavy the water bowl is. I’m considering purchasing it. I so appreciate you! You’re a jewel! 😊💕 💎
Hi Laina! It’s always so nice to hear from you. You had a good question about if the colors crossed over, I wasn’t sure actually so I just went and compared. It looks like there are several that crossover from the pan sets to the tubes, but there were actually a lot of differences too, especially with the larger pan set of 52 colors. (The tube set has 36 so I guess naturally there would be some difference there! 😉😅) That was a good question, I’m glad you asked. As far as the ceramic brush wash bowl, it’s probably a little less than 2 pounds. (I personally really love it!) I hope you have a wonderful day today. Take care!
Thanks for checking on the colors! I hope it wasn’t too much trouble to do that. Well since you love the wash bowl, I think I'll get it. Still considering the paints since they’re at such a great price. 😊 Again, I so love this weeks's tutorial! A great way to jump into Spring! 💕@@lieslsartisticstudio
so very pretty! I would like to attempt this. The mei liang pallet in the blue tin is my go to paint as i cant afford to use my daniel smith paint for daily practice, I love them so much I got the tube set also and feel they are a good paint at an affordable price for anyone. These paints are another of paul rubens sets
I’m so glad you like it enough to give it a try. 🥰 And yes, for the affordable price they are… definitely a great option! Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and comment. Have a great weekend!
I love your tutorials so calming and peaceful. I also love your piano solo. Did I read it correctly? You composed and played this? So very beautiful.💚💚
You are so kind, I’m glad you like it! 🥰 And yes, I did write as well as play/record the music for this! That is a special thing I like to add to my videos when I can. ☺️Thanks for watching! I hope you have a great rest of your day. 💕
I am learning to watercolor! I followed along your video and I just finished the flowers.. I am so happy with the progress and can’t wait to finish. Thank you, great video! 💕💐
Oh yay! 👏😁 I’m so happy to hear you’re giving this a try and that so far you’re pleased with the progress. 🥰 I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment today, it means a lot. Take care and painting! 💕
Hello my new friend from Mexico! I’m so happy you enjoyed this tutorial. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment. Have a wonderful day! 🥰
Oh yay! I’m so glad you like it enough to give it a try!! 🥰 I hope you have fun painting it. I truly appreciate you taking the time to watch and write this lovely comment today, it means a lot. Take care and painting! 💕
I LOVE your artwork and your clear instructions!! 💕💕 (A;so I love that the music is soft and in the background. So many art videos have loud and unnecessary music that competes with the narrative!)
Thank you for your kindness Mary. 🥰 I’m so happy you enjoyed this tutorial! I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment, and I hope you have a wonderful day today! Happy painting my friend. 😊
I followed your tutorial with me trying out watercolour for the first time and although it doesn't look exactly as pretty as yours! But it turned out great and I loved it for my first ever attempt! Thanks a lot!❤
👏😁 I am so happy to hear you gave this a try! Congratulations for taking the plunge and painting with watercolors for the first time. 🥰 The more you practice the better and better your work will get, but more importantly I hope you will just enjoy and have fun with it! I wish you all the best in your watercolor journey. Take care and happy painting my friend. 😊
I really like the color balance, especially between warm and cool. To my eye, you got it spot on. The only tiny thing that I'd have changed is that nearly invisible blue/purple last bit on the right. It could have been more yellow-ish. Mid to left skews a bit heavier on the golden tones, but that's just me. It's beautiful!! Thank you for all you do for us. I'm very happy I found you, having gone down a rabbit hole ;)
Well, that’s the great thing about art…as I often say in my tutorials, you are the artist for your work and you can choose to paint it in any way with any colors you like, 😉 I’m just the guide to get your creativity flowing. 🥰 Take care.
In my world, your prof was correct. Not only is composition for your main subject a thing, but the greenery and the the little bits. It's rather like the rule of 3, or the rule of odd numbers. Groupings of the main as well as the large, mid, and small elements. The brain sees symmetry and balance. Symmetry between right/left or up/down doesn't necessarily mean it's a reflection, but rather a weight balance unless that imbalance is intentional. It gets complicated after that. Balance means that the piece, when finished, looks whole, finished, and cohesive. Even babies can see the difference between when something is balanced or not. Walking away from a piece is very, very good advice. Do it several times. After each element (like once the flowers are done, and then when you call the leaves done, and at the end just before you call it finished). Taking this little break resets the mind. When you go back and look at it (even though you may have been working for a couple of hours), anything missing or overworked and needs balancing will stick out like a sore thumb. Even to non-artists. Our brains know when something is right and when something is a little off even if you can't pinpoint what. Trust your brain.
Yes, the rule of 3’s or even just odd numbers can definitely be helpful when planning a composition, and I agree, we do sort of naturally can see what is balanced and cohesive or not. 😊 Thanks for watching!
I love your videos and this one is great. Thank you for all your content. I've learned so much. Just an F.Y.I. Prussian blue is pronounced like Russia but with a P. Like King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Named for the king of the former country of Prussia.
Stunning beautiful! I loved your tutorial. I've recently started back painting, and I can't wait to try this. Your explanation is amazing, thank you. Looking forward to watching your other works
I’m so happy to hear that you have started painting again! I’m also glad you enjoyed the tutorial. 🥰 I wish you much success with all your future artworks! Take care and thanks for watching. 💕
I’m so happy to hear you’re enjoying my tutorials and I hope you do give watercolor painting a try, it’s the best! 😉 I will definitely keep a hibiscus painting in mind. 🥰 Take care!
So pretty..my first try mine doesnt look half as soft as yours but heck Im only a week into watercolor painting..practice practice!! Thanks for the lesson..Ill try again :)
That’s terrific news! Sounds like you’re doing better than me when I first started with watercolors! lol 😂 I was not any good at it for a long time, but I didn’t give up, put in a lot of practice…and now I’m creating things I never thought possible. 😉 Because of my own personal experience, I believe anyone can paint with watercolors if they’re willing to put in the effort. Keep up the great work, and thanks for letting me be a small part in your watercolor journey! Take care.
very nice....do you use this brand of paint often? what type of paper are you using with this paint? and yes i will be trying this one as well. thankyou for sharing your talent!
Hi Ralph! Thanks for your question. I really enjoy using the little pan sets that this company puts out to take with me when I travel, but I don’t use them on a day to day basis. This is my first time ever using their tube paints, they were fun to try out and are a really great cost effective option as far as paints go, but I will probably stick to my professional grade paints for every day painting. Take care my friend. (I forgot to say, I am using Arches brand cold press paper.)
This is so beautiful! I might try this one! Question though... you said you'll stick with your professional brand of paint - what brand do you typically use?
I’m glad you like it! Thanks for your question too, the brand I like to use is M. Graham & Co. watercolor tube paints. They are the paints I learned with and tend to be my “go-to” paints. 😉 Everyone has different brand preferences though, so you’ll have to find what works best for you. 🥰 Thanks for watching! Take care.
Beautiful as always! Can I ask. Should petals always be painted wet on wet ? Or is it your preference? I’ve never done it this way but it looks soo beautiful! ❤
Good question Helen, thanks for asking! Painting petals wet on wet is just my personal preference, you can of course paint them however you like and are comfortable with. I just find that the wet on wet helps me get the paint to flow in a softer way, and I can typically blend the colors, or light and dark values better that way because it doesn’t dry out quite so fast. But please feel free to paint them however you wish. 🥰 Take care.
Hello again! Color mixing is one of those things that you will get better at with time. At first a lot of it is just experimentation and trying out different combinations. It may be helpful to just pick a day and play around with some color samples to see what you can get. But in the meantime, if you don’t have the exact colors that someone uses on these TH-cam videos, that is ok too. Pick out colors that are similar, or even just colors you like or want to use. There is nothing wrong with deviating from the tutorial to fit your needs or create your own unique artwork. ❤️ There are probably also some color mixing tutorials out there that may help get you started. Hang in there my friend!
Yes, you’re right, I don’t use that color often and found out I pronounced it wrong when it was too late… 🤷♀️ oh well, I guess I know for next time! Thanks for watching. 😊

At THE ACADEMY, where I was born to be educated, I started to impress my teachers, with a "bolster art work", the burnt nuts paint!!! I had beautiful works of them, by then, and as were "tentoongesteld" at the Academy, and placed on their computers!!!Nowadays, I "play" with Mixed Media; not for contentment of the finished products, but, by the FUN it makes me!!! I don't have to 'present', an ARTWORK , anymore.....I'm getting older, waiting for my "eternal death"!!!I might as well have some FUN!!!I don't want to be put in a "home", I want my own home, and this iss it gonna be!!!

I’m so happy to hear that you have started painting again! I’m also glad you enjoyed the tutorial. 🥰 I wish you much success with all your future artworks! Take care and thanks for watching. 💕
Would you please consider doing a hibiscus flower? After watching several of your videos, I feel confident that I can try to tackle watercolor!!!
@@lieslsartisticstudio thank you for your answer...I have their pan set.... it's ok ...I will try them with this painting so as to follow you....
👍
This is so beautiful! I might try this one! Question though... you said you'll stick with your professional brand of paint - what brand do you typically use?
I’m glad you like it! Thanks for your question too, the brand I like to use is
M. Graham & Co. watercolor tube paints. They are the paints I learned with and tend to be my “go-to” paints. 😉 Everyone has different brand preferences though, so you’ll have to find what works best for you. 🥰 Thanks for watching! Take care.
Loved this. Btw, it’s “prushin” blue. I can attest to this as my ancestors are Prussian.
Yes! I realized that after the video was posted! 🤦♀️😅
❤
Thanks for watching Patricia. 🥰
As a beginner, I have trouble knowing what colours to mix with what to get certain colours ....my paint are 12 tubes only to my set
Very pretty and so calming.
Prussian Blue sounds just like the country Russia. I'm not a 'grammar nut', you don't sound comfortable saying it.
I’m glad you’re having fun with your artwork, thanks for watching!
Watercolor is quite easy to work with to be honest, I find oil paint harder and takes a lot of time to dry…
There are definitely pros and cons to every medium…😊 I’m glad you enjoy watercolor painting though! Have a great day.
