    A Hungarian Somm here. Appreciate you made this video. You nailed the pronunciations throughout (except Aszu). Super impressed as our language is not for the faint hearted for sure! :) One thing to correct is Somló. Somló is not Balaton although located not far from the lake. Somló is the smallest wine region in Hungary and well-known for Juhfark, Furmint and Hárslevelű grape varieties.I think Szekszárd would have deserved a spot here. I also recommend those interested in Hungarian wines to discover Badacsony (near lake Balaton) and Mór wine regions. Cheers! 🥂

      Thank you for your additions these are great! Mór, Badacsony, Szekszárd, and the grape Hárzlevelű.
      From the team in Hungary regarding Somló: it is indeed part of Balaton officially and is little less than an hour's drive from the lake itself.
      The pronunciations I was able to get help with from a Hungarian. Thank you for the feedback, they were hard to learn. and now fun to say! What an amazing language.

    I would add Badacsony to the highlighted regions, especially their Kéknyelű grapes. Unfortunately it's really difficult to source..

      Absolutely. What a unique and fantastic grape variety and wines from the region. It's getting super hard to find Kéknyelű even here in London, UK. It must be nearly impossible to get your hands on a bottle overseas.

    Great video Madeline!! I do regular wine tastings in our condo building and find your Master Guide invaluable. I am planning, after watching this, to do a tasting on Hungarian wines. Now all I have to do is find some😀. Have got my local wine store wine person working on it. Thanks for your vision and enthusiasm. David🇨🇦

    Thank you so much for showcasing the wonderful and rich Wine of my beloved country that I try to represent here on TH-cam 😊 I hope with this many more people will hear about Hungary, and perhaps if they visit they will also leave the city of Budapest to discover more of what the country has to offer 😊 I personally also enjoy the Szekszárd region, they make some excellent Reds like Kékfrankos or Kadarka and their version of the Bikavér cuvee is also nice, plus they are usually better priced vs the more expensive Villány wines. 😊

    I am sitting here by the fireplace with a nice glass of port watching this. Wishing I had some Hungarian wines to taste.

    I just filmed a Furmint episode for my channel, will drop this coming weekend. I always keep my eye out for a Harslevelu wine as I've really enjoyed those in the past. Hungary doesn't get much love in the US but we need to change that.

    Always liked Hungarian Wine. Don't think of Hungarian wine as being warm. Like the Bulls Blood wine. My wife even liked it. Tokaj tastes really good.

    Cserszegi Fuszeres is not the most planted white grape in Hungary :) But anyway, the wine selection is very nice!

    • @winefolly
      @winefolly  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      oh yeah? This was the information we'd received from Hungary Wine board, can you give us a little more idea of where you have seen this info? We'd love to update our data!

    • @Skillividden
      @Skillividden 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @winefolly I am getting the statistics from the Hungarian Wine Marketing Agency (former Agrarmarketing Centrum). I haven't updated it since 2023, but I would be surprised if somehow the plantings of Bianca fell so considerably that Cserszegi Fuszeres actually surpassed Bianca in hectares... Especially taking into account the downward trend in plantings of Cserszegi Fuszeres.

      @winefolly I will check it again, of course, when I get the latest data... I'm probably the nerdiest person in the world as far as Hungarian wines are concerned :)
