From datamining, the 2hander and shield was a direction they were looking at, but scrapped it for unknown reasons. (Most likely imo due to weird loot tables maybe). I would have loved to have 2hander and shield. That for prot and arms would have been so fun.
Thanks Tac - big fan of your videos. Im currently on the fence about which tank to main in WW - usually can run two heavy. But I have found prot warr to be very fun. Getting into M+ testing this week! Really hoping the monk does well, really want to give monk a full shot.
No problem! Definitely been enjoying Prot Warrior so far in keys and raid testing, but I haven't gotten into BDK/Brew yet so will have to see how those ones feel.
I really like the colossus fantasy for prot, and Im leaning towards it, but at least for me seems like colossus is more single target heavy, and mountain us more aoe heavy cause the thinder claps. But again maybe im wrong. I hope colossus will be good in m+ environment
That is definitely the same vibe I'm getting from testing, Colossus seems better in raid (assuming you line up your Avatar and Spear with it for the damage amps) whereas Mountain Thane seems better in M+, though to be fair to Colossus you can still line up some really juicy Demolish casts if you build up stacks at the end of a previous pack and then go into a new one with your spear up, the burst is kinda crazy.
what kind of damage is the lightning strikes? since Tclap is physical, wondering if that is as well. With the new kiss/curse affixes, doesn't seem like additional damage from abilities like both guardian hero talent trees. Does Demolish seem to be a revamp of the old artifact weapon ability from legion?
Thunderblast turns Tclap into stormstrike damage (nature/phys) and has been my highest damage in keys during my testing (outside of weird spell reflect shenanigans), whereas the lightning strikes themselves are just pure nature damage. Also of course you still have a decent amount of bleed/phys damage so you get benefits ALL the benefits on Attuned weeks as well as some benefit on Reckless week currently. I didn't play Pwar in Legion but reading the ability they definitely sound similar, you just need to have Shield Block active yourself as Demolish doesn't naturally have block attached to it.
To be fair I never even remotely consider PvP when I'm thinking about stuff hahaha. Though hopefully if it would be a problem its something that could be disabled in those situations maybe?
Nerfing rage generation is weird to me. I like prot warriors because you always had something to do (at least in legion). I hope we won't be waiting for rage
So far in my testing it actually hasn't felt too bad with the extra rage from hero talents, though if you're in the habit of pressing revenge too much I can see you feeling a bit starved.
I’m so sad titanic throw and improved heroic throw were removed. I loved those talents. It gave warrior excellent snap threat on 6 mobs. Which was great when front-loaded DPS were in the group like ret paladins. It was only a 1-2% DPS loss for useful utility. But now that thunderclap is doing a lot more damage to groups hopefully it’ll make up for it. It doesn’t make sense Cruel Strikes gates Thunderous Roar when spear is the ability that benefits from critical strike. I don’t understand why people don’t take Bolster. It’s 15 seconds of block which greatly helps warrior reach 100% block without using Heavy Repercussions.
The main issue with taking things like improved heroic throw and bolster is just how many points you want to spend currently in the spec tree. Personally I think Heavy Repercussions is better because it lets you spend points in Disrupting Shout and Spell Block, which are extremely important in M+, plus it gives you more rage gen to help with the reductions on top of giving 100% block uptime.
How much rage are you gaining through bloodsurge in the beta? Is dropping it and rend and going with crackling thunder an option or does that mean a lot less rage?
So I've actually been doing a lot of my testing dropping Bloodsurge to pick up Disrupting Shout in M+, but even so I don't think you'd swap of Blood and Thunder because rend is still such a large portion of your overall damage in keys, significantly more than a 10% boost to Thunderclap (even as mountain thane where Thunderblast is your highest damage instance overall).
@@Tactyks Thanks for that! So, you are saying dropping Bloodsurge is an option despite the rage generation changes and low haste? If Crackling thunder is not even worth it this addon with Montain thane then it either needs to be changed or removed though.
Well... i also dabble in all tanks. I think warrior is ok. But it is missing the excitement factor in the hero specs. Still it's a comfort tank and collosus will see play if the damage goes unchanged. Will it be meta? Probably not. It's still missing some utility. But, it's not to the gutter level brew is on atm. This all still depends on the nerfs to DH tanks too.
Totally possible, but something important to note is how early in the beta phase we are! Currently a few BDK hero talents are extremely overtuned and will likely be nerfed when tuning begins, which with testing happening this weekend could start as early as this coming week.
Nah still VDH with the new afflix and the dungeon mob design you are better off having a VDH with many stops CC and stuns also they give more damage boost to magic user dps and the afflix also give more damage to certain type of magic VDH plays very nicely with it.
I dont understand why they wont utilize the "War Banner" aspect from the Necrolords. That was a unique kind of utility and could easily be utilized for various buffs. For example, they could have something called " Hold the Line" where we give allies a lesser Ignore Pain or something. Maybe even a war horn thing called "Generals Call" that gives us a 30% crit chance for X amount of seconds, kind of like Bloodlust but for crit.
Not super great atm honestly, but seems like it will be better than Mountain Thane when it comes to pure ST assuming you line up your CDs correctly to maximize your burst.
Really appreciate your work here!! The 3 tanks you have covered so far are the 3 in the running for me for War Within. 2 quick questions. 1) Which is tankiest in M+, as the incoming damage looks large in next xpac? 2) Also, which of the 3 is easiest to become proficient to play well with? Thanks for your time !!
Glad you enjoy the content! 1) This is tough because currently not all the tanks are properly implemented, specifically paladin tier set still does not work and Word of Glory healing values are likely still wrong, which definitely hurts the current tankiness of the spec in M+ but should hopefully be fixed in the coming weeks. That being said if I had to say with the current state of the beta, Pwar would be the tankiest, but again A LOT can and will change before launch, which is why I plan to revisit all the tank specs near the start of August to see where they're at. 2) This kind of depends, in general pretty much every tank spec is quite straightforward rotationally, but in that sense Guardian is likely the easiest of the 3 (especially because there's a new build I plan to test soon that is basically just 5 buttons in total which may be viable). Paladin rotation is probably second, with the main difficulty coming from your external utility, giving them probably the highest skill ceiling of the 3 as you can be extremely impactful. Warrior is probably the most difficult rotation-wise, but again this doesn't mean its actually super hard, the main choice you have is how you spend your rage between Ignore Pain, Revenge, and Shield Block, plus managing very fast pace gameplay at the same time while trying not to cap on rage.
@@Tactyks Totally understand it's early. Not holding to you anything. But this gives me an early general direction to head towards and your answer helped a lot. Looking forward to future videos. Keep up the great work !
The reversion of the intervene change is a huge loss for dps warrior. I'd argue more than prot. Having intervene reflect for effects like crushing depths from tott would have been a game changer in my push group.
Im simple warrior main, if they let me use 2-hand and shield i would love it more then whole hero talents...
YUP, would be super cool even with 0 gameplay changes.

@Tactyks I feel it helps warrior have more mob control, (stops) to help compete with pallys infinite interrupts

Should have the BDK video out later this week, got a couple other videos planned before then!
