  • From HBO Path to War (2002) - Pentagon discussion after the Tet Offensive. Remarkable similarities with today, just replace Vietnam with Afghanistan and Cambodia and Laos with Pakistan. As Mark Twain put it: "History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme!"

The look Wheeler gives to Westmoreland is priceless. Sort of like he's telling him "Oops! He figured out we're trying to B.S. him."

In 1969 I was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam and we flew around "staff pukes" and would listen on the intercom as they came up with their lies and distortions of everything. The truth is the first casualty in war. LBJ, McNamara, Nixon, Kissinger & Westmoreland constantly lied to the American public. Ironically the only ones telling the truth were the war protesters. Let us remember that the Gulf of Tonkin incident did NOT take place. Also, the bayonet is a weapon with a worker on each end and that decisions to go to war are made in boardrooms and not congressional rooms. Best of luck to all of us!

Thomas Jefferson said: "Peace, commerce and honest friendship with all nations; entangling alliances with none."

I pity Johnson, he really didn't want Vietnam. His legacy was to be the Great Society.

China will not have any problems borrowing since they themselves are running an artificially low currency peg on the dollar.

Don't forget, we need to borrow more money from China.
