Yes-the radio does not show aux when you go to mode button-only radio and cd but when you connect the aux cable and iphone it will show the Aux on display
My wires were different buy this might help. First colors are the ones from the video and the seconds the ones that I got red=yellow blue=white and brown=red. Yellow pinout 3, white pinout 4 and red pinout 10. Good luck

The first aux cable the radio did not recognize the cable so we could not get the aux function on the radio.After many tries and some research we foun out the there needs to be resistance on the cable otherwise the radio does not recognise the input.There are plans on the net to add resistors to the cable ......but we got hold of a cable that had a resistor on it-looked at the picture and saw the resistor .Bought it and installed it en wow it works-so the resistance needs to be on the cable otherwise the radio will not go into aux mode::Thanks again SDG

I have an 05 X3 3.0i and it doesn’t have Bluetooth connectivity. I have the button on my steering wheel but it’s useless unless I install the system, to which I’m not. Anyways, I just bought the AUX wire from ECS Tuning and I’m wondering if my radio will say AUX when I install it or does the radio HAVE to have an AUX option before I install it? Make sense? Meaning I don’t have an AUX option right now on my Business Radio but will it automatically come up once I install the AUX cord. Thx and this video is the best I’ve seen as far as installation goes for this cord. Great job!

We have the really useless headunit with the build-in tiny screen showing very basic vehicle info and the navigation "arrows". I have not dismantled anything yet, but guessing the connector will be the same there. Anyone know what this headunit is actually called and it this external connector can be installed in that one?
Use a loc line output connector it’s the easiest way to do it mate Duno if any help as comment is 7 years old 😂 but u tap into two speakers output (speaker wires ) and wire a 12v power to the loc using a switch power line( a internal light is bestas it’s a switched power source that turns on and off locking the car. You can use this same wire for the subs 12v switch too) and earth wire to a bare metal bolt. Hey presto a rca output for sub

Filip Feranda Did you solve your problem--it is all about resistance on the aux cable-buy a cable that has a resitor on it-look at a photo and you will see a bulge on the wire-I also installed a cable that did not work-got another one with resistor and working now--the radio picks up the resistance and then goes into aux mode-if there is no resistance the radio will not go into aux mode

Just bought cables from AliExpress (cheap ones for 5$ set with inner cable and standard aux 3.5 -3.5mm) and will be installing it in 2005 x3 2.0, so when i do it i will say here if it works and put link of product here.
+Brandon Ramos the one I used to pull the aux through? It's just regular steel wire, you should be able to get it at any hardware store. And i believe the drill bit was either a 3/8 or a 1/4

Yes your AUX input may be on the back side of the center console

On my BMW I cannot get it to say "AUX" I have to pull out the cords for the business cd changer to be able to use the AUX, but it still dosent say aux

my radio didn't have the 12 pin you pulled out to connect the extra cabels for the aux
