    I miss the old format, I love the history segment and the segment for the rules for Flames of War, Team Yankee, etc.

      Hi Topher. Thanks for the feedback. I like doing the history parts of the reviews, but they take time. With the kits in my review pile it isn't a choice between a long or short review. The choice for these kits is a short review or no review at all. Significant kits will still get a full review. I'm working on one now. I just really wanted to get some of these other kits in my pile out into the world!

      @@FogofWar another idea is to do a history segment, and rules segment later when you are running low on content

      I have tried rolling more history into the parts discussion without having a separate section for it in the next one. Let me know what you think.

    I like the shorter format. If it helps you bring out more reviews that is great. The model looks good and you gave some very helpful information. Thanks for sharing this. I am looking forward to the next review.

    The short format is excellent. You saved me here, as I am in the market for early war half tracks and choices are thin on the ground. The lack of the MG cover is a deal breaker here and not apparent from any other source ive seen, so well done and thanks for the heads up on that. Ill look elswhere fo a more complete model i think.

    Awesome review. Actually, Zvezda really picked up their game in recent years. I have an old M1 Abrams of theirs and it is horrible, with little to no detail. Now I have a King Tiger with the Henschel turret and it is awesome. Lots of details and a really great fit. And it comes on two sprues with lots of elements.

    • @PaintsAreOp
      @PaintsAreOp 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some of their newer kits lack a lot of detail too, but for some years now their German kits have been super high detail, but their M3 Lee is a bit lacking. The new Panzer IV ausf. G in my opinion is superior to even PSC.

    • @FogofWar
      @FogofWar  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of Zvezda's stuff is great. The King Tiger kit is one of the best. But I agree - their M1 Abrams kit was dreadful. I think I've said elsewhere, I refuse to review it because I can't bring myself to spend money on the kit.

    • @AsenTsvetkov
      @AsenTsvetkov 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PaintsAreOp Greater that the PSCs? Really? As for the Lee... since I don't collect soviets, and the only british models they have are those that were lend lease, I am glad that they make great German models. :-) Probably they don't sell that many of them. I wonder what is the quality of their soviet models though.

    • @FogofWar
      @FogofWar  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Zvzeda Lee was my first ever review and the launch of the channel. I have also reviewed a good number of the Zvezda Soviet releases in the past and they're pretty good! I love my KV-2.

    • @PaintsAreOp
      @PaintsAreOp 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AsenTsvetkov Lee is also available for USA, which I collect. I'm not saying it's bad, it's just not as good as their German stuff. Soviets are great too, even their 1/72 infantry, but I don't feel it's as good as their super amazing German stuff. But maybe it's just that German tanks IRL have more details while Soviets were a bit plain?

    Somehow it is not totally incorrect that there is no gun shield for the front MG. Just like the normal Sd.Kfz. 251 from Zvezda this is a B-variant, a very early variant. In the beginning of the production of the Sd.Kfz. 251 the gun shield were produced seperatly by another manofacture and assembled to the vehicle later. (Source: Panzer Tracts)
    Yet it is a little bit annoying. Two kits of the normal halftrack by Zvezda in 1/100 waiting for to be build by me. Luckily I've got spare gunners and gun shields.
    By the way: Another great FogOfWar review.

    • @FogofWar
      @FogofWar  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Trekan. Do I know your name from Herbert Erpaderp videos? He's a champion!
      I did find out the gun shield was a later addition. But they were pretty common, even on ausf B half tracks. It would have been a nice thing for them to include. But you are correct, and it isn't a deal-breaker, just a minor annoyance.

    Thank you for the review. This new format is good if it means you can get more videos out. A brief history lesson is not altogether necessary for the review of every model kit. Perhaps prioritizing additional information for only the more obscure vehicles would be best. There are plenty of other areas where technical specification and performance are described in greater detail either way.

      They even tried mounting Nebelwerfer rockets on aircraft.

  • @trekanbelluvitsh
    @trekanbelluvitsh 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Although being a rocket launcher these weapons weren't part of the artillery. They were attached to combat engeneer battailons for heavy close support against fortified positions, strongholds or concentrations of enemy troops.

      @@FogofWar About german vehicles in WW2 there is a great series of book(lets) called "Panzer tracts". They come with great informations and pictures. But there is a real dealbreaker: They are quite expensive. I only have two of them, both about the Sd.Kfz. 251 (first from the beginning to C-Variant, second about the D-variant) because I was a Panzergrenadier myself in 1989/90. But if you reeeeeealy interested in one vehicle they are worth buying... or thinking about buying one.

    • @FogofWar
      @FogofWar  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Someone pointed out this mount is valid for *early* vehicles. That's good to know. But most people would expect the gun shield - like I did!

    @kevinfischer8647 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like this shorter bit but will miss the in depth history.
    Maybe with enough reaction on one of your reviews that you may go back and make an in depth one but the Stuka on foot is a simple vehicle with probably not much historical background to it other than it is a half track with rocket pods strapped to the side of it.

    • @FogofWar
      @FogofWar  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will still do some longer reviews in the old format. This is just a way to get other kits that keep getting overlooked on the review pile into the light! And maybe I can make some companion history reviews for them later. Good idea!

    Get an intern. He/She can build the kits, then you do the review. Interns also get coffee, pick-up dry cleaning and run errands. Plus you don't have to pay them just a credit at the end of the video.
    Thanks,
    Adam
