    Great video Rob.
Good to see Bachmann customer services are on the ball .
When I asked Hornby for a replacement smoke box dart for a star class I was told we don’t supply body spare parts.

Thanks Darren. I was expecting a similar response to be honest, I didn't think they'd have a supply of those parts, but they've delievered very quickly.

Hi Rob, i love the D16. I wish there was a comprehensive history of the colour schemes. All I can find is they were changed to Brunswick green after 1955 but there were two versions. First in Brunswick green with orange lining and later in BR green with duck egg blue lining (not sure if there's a difference between Brunswick and BR green but they look different on the model). Nobody seems to know when that colour scheme changed. Looking at historical photos I think the orange lining was short lived.

Hi Nigel, I bet someone at the Ivatt Diesel Re-Creation Society (lms10000.co.uk/) would know. Being partially colour blind I find it hard to pick out linings colours. I absolutely love the black and chrome look, the BR green doesn't do anything for me.

Driver and secondman which I was at Sheffield midland in the 1980s, Nice review I'm into Lego trains? But I might buy this for display.

Thanks Tony! What responsibilities does the secondman have? Which types of locos did you work on?

@@LittleWicketRailway Do you mean apart from making numerous mashing cans of tea or coffee! You learn over many years all aspects of driving, loco maintenance, Rules and trust me their are many, Route learning although your on rails you still have to know speed limits, Signals, Junction layouts, Many more things than university drivers today, Locos worked on 08 shunters, Cl 20s, Cl 25s Cl 31s Cl 37s Cl 40s Cl 45s Cl 46s Cl 47s Cl 56s, First loco I ever drove was a Cl 31 Sheffield to Manchester to collect newspaper train and take to Cleethorpes! At 2 am. Great times sadly gone forever but the memories never fade, Have a good one nice . layout by the way, I'm in process of building a lego layout in the garden.

I wouldn't know where to start with the US stuff, all looks pretty impressive.

As an American, to me, this locomotive doesn't look at all American. It looks European to my eyes. The baby face Baldwin diesels also look foriegn to most American modelers. For HO scale American diesel models, top ones in no particular order are: Atlas, Kato, Intermountain, Athearn Genesis, BLI, Scale Trains, Bowser, Rapido, Proto2000. Keep in mind most higher quality American outline HO scale model locomotive don't do well on less than 22 inch radius curves and most require the purchaser to add more fragile details to complete the model than seems typical of UK models.

I'm a steam enthusiast but I have to admit steam had to die sad but it had to

It might have made the end of steam more bearable if diesel had stayed looking this good though.

10001 actually came out in 1948 in the same livery as 10000 minus the LMS lettering. They both didn't receive the BR early logo until a few years later.

They come up every now and again on Ebay for a reasonable price. Sometimes as a double pack with 10000 and 10001.

They are making a replica of 10000, to run on heritage lines partly built from class 58.

Good review. It's a nice looking model, and good to hear Bachmanns customer service came up trumps.

So far I've tried Hornby, Hattons and Bachmann customer service and they've all been great. Hornby took a few weeks, but I did have to post them a decoder to test, whereas the others were sending though small parts.

Not my cup of tea but can't deny it's a striking colour scheme.
