Nice video! Cool catch on the NJTransit trains.

Why was the dual-mode in diesel mode? Was it because it's cheaper to be in diesel mode than drawing power from the catenary?

I miss the old steeplechase trains that used to show up. I live in Peapack and I used to love watching the trains go past the family house as they headed for Gladstone. Often, they stacked up until they were visible from the house and beyond. I remember GP40 locomotives with Comet I and Comet II coaches the most, but there was also the occasional F40PH locomotive with Comet coaches. Personally, I wish those trains would come back...or I take a time machine to return to those days. Either or.

Thanks for posting these very nice videos! I grew up in Berkeley Heights in the 60's and rode the Erie Lackawanna trains through Summit to Hoboken to catch the Hudson Tubes to NYC. I'm planning on going back to BH to look around and to ride the new trains all the way to Penn Station in NYC without having to change in Hoboken! These videos you've made are a great incentive! Keep up the good work!

There was this train a P42Dc leading and a GP40 at the end since they didn't have a cab car

Awesome video! It's always nice to see the extra trains on this line! Have you seen the restoration work they did to the Lyons Station depot? It looks really nice. They plan to work on it more after winter.
