Names are the theme that haunt this song. It was supposed to be called "Little Greenback," like in money, but the seven-inch single debut was misprinted by publisher label Negram. Wouldn't you know it, it became their top hit, and so became known by the wrong name. Worse yet, they had to change the name of the album to reflect that. If you listen to the words, "greenback" is actually the word sung. George Baker, meanwhile, was actually born Johannes Bouwens. He's from the Netherlands, you see, and so "Little Green Bag" first made the top-40 on the Dutch charts, then Belgium, and finally internationally. Have you ever heard such a unique construction? It starts out with jazzy bass and tambourine, with a bouncy bass line and drum. Then the vocals slide in with an almost whisper, and then suddenly the song opens up and it's a Spanish romance ballad.

A lost 45 from April 1970. I was about to graduate HS in June and everything was great, including this song. I love the tambourine
I love you, Tarantino.

Tarntino amd rodriguez ROCKIT
he ain't make the song only the movie can't give him credit for the song, tho he did put it in his movie
Lydia Tuesday Guzman the song would have faded into obscurity if it weren’t used so iconically in RD.
The song is from Holland ...!!!
It's truly incredible how much cultural influence Tarantino has had during his career. He's brilliant and one of a kind.
syhush
Hack artist making people numb
Legend says he's still looking back on the track for a little green bag
I just heard song on a radio station yesterday, probably haven't heard it in 40 ys. another good song from the 70s..
When the whole Squad reunites after Gulag.
But where? boneyard or downtown?
HAHAHAHAHA yes man
The most badass walk ever filmed.
This song starts playing every time I put my sunglasses on
I lost my weed while out walking so I was actually looking back on the track for a little green bag.
The artist who performs this song is Dutch, so wouldn't be surprised if the song is about that 😂😂😂
I meet my dealer on the train tracks because its the fastest way to meet each other and i lost a gram of blueberry cookies shatter on the way home and i looked for hours
"Hey joe you want me to shoot this ass hole?"
Ive actually lost my "little green bag" a couple of times.
Not nice thats why this masterpiece always cheers me up!
🤣🤣
I was in the seventh grade, 1968, when I first heard this song, my dad was giving me a ride to school, he liked it too!
“Hence, Like A Virgin.”
*whispers - WONG!
i was walking down a parking lot with a group of friends and this was playing in my head the entire time
0:55
The song: "Lookin for some happiness, but there is"
My fuckin dumbass brain: _"Lookin for some happy mashed potatoes"_
...and Lady Mondegreen 😊
What’s your TikTok 😂

@@aaronl221 idk lol it looks like a TikTok comment section
@@autumnware1415 that doesnt make any sense
Tarantino heard this song in an Amsterdam pub and asked what is was. And the rest is history :) George Baker (real name Hans Bouwens) is Dutch BTW.
Was he high as shit?🤔
Nice story!
Does anybody listen to K Billy's Super Sounds of the 70's?
Mr. Blonde
+Daniel Wagner no I am Mr blond not you
You know what I heard yesterday ? Heartbeat is a lovebeat , I haven't heard that song since I have as in the fifth fucking grade
wrong song
Yes
"You shoot me in a dream, you better wake up and apologize!"
if you shoot me in dreams better wake up and apologize
freekai270 u made the joke shit
Stolen line from Cagney's amazing performance in Curtiz's Angels with Dirty Faces (1938). Fantastic crime noir film with Pat O'Brien and Humphrey Bogart.
I don’t know why but this tune gives me summer vibes. Riding in a car near the coast… love this song to death
For sure, great imagery!
The tambourine has something to do with it!
When you're playing Payday on Overkill and you're rolling up thinking "Let's do this... it's gonna be a cakewalk..."
This has never been more relevant.
K billy's super sounds of the 70's weekend just keeps on coming with this little ditty. They reached up to 21 in may of 1970. The George Baker Selection: Little Green Bag
back in the 80's we would hear this on the jukebox at Crocks & Rolls in thunder bay come closing time... great memories.
This and The O’jays “love of money” are the greatest bass intros of all time
agree
Time of the season tho?
I'd be looking for my weed if I lost it too but this guy made a whole song about it 😂😂
Brings me back to the good old days....plenty of great Dutch bands and wonderful music! Xxy Yvette
Reservoir Dogs really is a great movie. For QT’s first movie you have to admit it’s impressing.
I'd pay to watch Tarantino and Scorsese stick themselves in a room with a turntable and drive each other crazy with soundtrack ideas.
YES
what about John Williams and Hans Zimmer
Wow, you actually compared Zimmer to friggin John Williams.
DrNanard They're both good
Kitty Burke No. One of them is good. The other one is a mastermind. What is the best score by Zimmer ? Inception ? Gladiator ? Lion King ? Interstellar maybe ? They all have great score, but I'm sorry, they're shit compared to Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jaws, E.T. and Jurassic Park. Zimmer is very classical in his composing, he always make big epic scores, but he doesn't have the instrumental depth of Williams' scores, who has much much more experience. It's like comparing The Beatles with fucking Beethoven.
This is actually my favourite movie of all time
I can say that Pulp Fiction is better but (if you already didn't know) your favourite movie doesn't need to be the one you think is best.. it needs to be YOUR PERSONAL FAVOURITE
maybe it taught you something, made you think hard about something etc.
But for me this movie made me invested in its story more than anything else
This would fit well in a Tarantino movie
yes it really would!
you serious? watch the first 10 minutes of tarantinos first cinema movie reservoir dogs

Tarantino sabe de la buena musica aparte de hacer muy buenas películas
Say it with me "I'm not gonna die! I'm not gonna die!"
SAY THE FUCKIN WORDS
She killed me, Larry! SHE KILLED ME!
Hunter Bailey that fuckin bitch
Maybe she was on a mission, looking for a little green bag to buy, and was driving around all day from mall to mall and she was like "ain't nobody gonna stop me today! you wanna stop me!? EAT THIS!"
Yama Yama Yama And she was probably also mad that there was a wait at her favorite diner because eight guys took the last table.
I keep forgetting whether the undercover policeman is killed or not in end,so I keep re-watching-but then forget in a weeks time or so again. Peculiar.
How can you forget that iconic scene where he is shot by Eddie. What kind of Reservoir Dogs fan are you?
It's amazing the skill that it takes to decide the song for your movie. Incredible ! QT is a god
This song never gets old imo.✨🌹
it does for me. try fighting in japan
The movie also never gets old 😂 perfect combo
It is better than "jingle bells" and "happy birthday"
I dunno man happy birthday is a fucking banger aye
Happy birthday is pretty lit but this is good too
"JIngle bells" is also a quite pleasant song, I'm more into heavy metal, but I kind of like "Jingle bells" ...
Public domain songs are cringe they should kill the bloodline of whoever made them
one of the most epic soundtracks ever made, always cheers me up.
I convinced my brother this was the american national anthem
I would be so proud if that were the case lmao
Ahahah
USA! USA! USA! ...xD
Yes instead of the Americanization of the Netherlands it's the other way around!
😆 🤣 😂
Aquellos años maravillosos se ha oido mucho
en casi todas las emisoras locales la tocaban
sin duda un éxito en todo el sentido de la palabra.
I don't tip. I don't believe in tipping.
Merve Uzun All this tipping automatically, it's for the birds
Merve Uzun Look, I ordered coffee, alright? And we been here a long fucking time and she's only filled my cup three times. When I order coffee I want it filled six times.
