I had a '95 Sonata with the 4G63 on it. The motor in the Hyundai has the head reversed from the Mitsubishi but it's the same motor. One says Hyundai one says Mitsubishi. It was a great and fast car. I miss that thing!

Had an 03 sonata, very reliable had it for around 7 years and all I had to do was regular maintenance. That car made me love Hyundai, had a Ford and a Dodge, both with issues (Dodge motor blew). Now I own a 2021 Hyundai sonata and I love it.

Friend of mine back in highschool a few years ago owned a Sonata 2001 2.4L V6. A very sensible looking Sedan, is what I called it and another friend of ours bought a Prelude and invested a bit of money into the engine of this car. I had to admit... for a very "Sensible" looking family sedan car, it is quite the sleeper vehicle lmao. About 4 times out of 10, old mate with the Hyundai would have Prelude mate out in a race lol. We would lose our shit when this happened lmao. We would try our best every time to get him to spec his Hyundai but he was the friend out of all of us that could just never get into cars the way we did, but shit, what a fuckin laugh those times were haha
My wife just got an o3 Hyundai sonata GLS with the big 2.7l V6 and it's also white. Right now it's bone stock and I think it would be cool to do a couple stealthy performance mods that my wife won't notice.
I have a 2013 2.0T Limited and once I get past 120 the back end starts to float so I don't push it past that ... The HP & torque for what you pay is great

Yeah these v6s can take a ton and keep on going... They come with forged cranks and steel rods with billet 4 bolt mains stock. I supercharged my 2005 Tucson with the 2.7, it makes around 375whp and 348ft-lb with the stock internals. I have a good tune on it, always ran synthetic oil. Awd helps a ton with traction. Its a shame im stuck with the 4 speed auto. It does have a lifter tick when cold starting it, but I have almost 250,000kms on it. And here I am tripling the power hahaha. Always been a Hyundai fan since I bought my Tucson in 2005. In surprised people are just now finding out how good their cars are. I rarely have to work on my too, only oil changes. No rust too, I didn't even under coat it. I live in Ottawa so the winters aren't the kindest on our cars. If you ever turbo your sonata make sure you tune it right or you'll have to get better pistons rather than the stock cast ones.

Haven't had any problems even though I've been driving it for 13 years now. The AWD might not like the additional power, but its cheap to replace and puts the power down nicely without wheelspin. It's a great platform to build on. I smoke a lot of people in the Tucson. Beat my buddy who drives an STI haha.

Jonathan Keith the Early model Kia Optima and Hyundai Sonatas used a version of the 4g63. I didn’t believe it when I had a 2005 Optima until it needed a new clutch and flywheel. Kia wanted $1700 for a flywheel. Ended up getting it at Oreilly auto parts for cost which was $551 in 2011. Now the cost is $949 at Oreilly.
This engine is a variation of the 4g64 galant motor and it will accept 4g63 parts. It’s a 2.4l just like the 4g64. A lot of people swap the dohc heads onto the 4g64 instead of the evo head

Those NORMALLY HAD the 2.7 delta V6 in them (copy of a mitsubishi engine). NOT THAT thing. I have a van with a sonata engine in (trajet was built stock as well as the santa fe and tiburon/coupe) and that looks YEARS newer than the standard engine.

If I could find the parts for it I'd put a turbo setup off a 3000gt and I'd put the MIVEC heads off a Pajero evolution. I'd also probably manual swap it to a Tiburon or galant five speed manual instead of my five speed automatic, but again I'm no mechanic and being that I can't find anyone else who has done any of these things, I don't think I'll ever be able to actually do it. It sure would be a one of a kind though.
I have a 2005 xg350 myself, internally the 3.5l and 3l from the 3000gts vr4s are all the same from my understanding, as in you can use all forged 6g7 2/3/4 parts. All interchangeable. Could probably use the turbi manifolds also. But at this point in time a custom big single would be best. Also the trans ain't that bad it's a f5a51, porsche designed dual gated tiptonic, decent. But yeah a 5/6speed would he nuts in this car lol
But how did you tune? Ecmlink? I'm doing this same build and it's all straight forward except the ecmlink part. Do they offer support for this ecu? Or did you wire in a dsm ecu?

Sounds like he is having some spark blowout issues. Might want to gap those plugs down a few thousandths.
