Sponges release their gametes thru their pores, mostly from their big hole(s) on the top of their body. Octopus use one of their tentacles to give sperm to the female octopus. It's even possible he's aromantic, but when we look at the show, doesn't look like he is lol. Also, real sponges are _hermaphrodites_ (both genders/can swap genders) and some can also choose to reproduce sexually (which is likely what SpongeBob’s parents did) instead of budding. I agree, there may be some gay agenda pushing, but at the end of the day, SpongeBob has always had a feminine side, and somewhat of a flirtatious side.
Asexual does not mean you can't have a significant other. Asexual means you have no interest in sex, but willing to date anyone. Aromantic is when you have no interest in dating. This brings a lot to the table - Some sponges are asexual (meaning they can produce children without a partner), and those are biological terms. And then there’s the other definition of asexual dealing with the lack of desire for a sexual relationship. Either or both of these could’ve been what Mr. Hillenburg meant. Either way, there’s a door open for SpongeBob to have romantic attractions. Consider how he thought fondly about his and Sandy’s “marriage”; clearly there was an attraction to her. He even developed romantic feelings for a Krabby Patty (which he attached the female gender to). THIS is why I firmly believe that SpongeBob is _biromantic._ He is attracted to both genders the same. Or maybe he is panromantic, and gender doesn’t matter to him. I remembered this show was accused for turning kids gay back in the 2000s. I watched it continuously every day for hours over the course of nine years, and I’m gay now.
SpongeBob always seemed sweet now that I think about it, but I love this character so much that I am glad that the late and great creator of the show was open minded enough to make him this way.

Also, real sponges are _hermaphrodites_ (both genders/can swap genders) and some can also choose to reproduce sexually (which is likely what SpongeBob’s parents did) instead of budding. I agree, there may be some gay agenda pushing, but at the end of the day, SpongeBob has always had a feminine side, and somewhat of a flirtatious side.

*Let’s establish something real quick, because some people don’t quite seem to understand, and I‘m reluctant to say I pity them, because really, I’m fed up with them:*
SpongeBob _can_ be “gay”. Perhaps not in the way that you’re thinking, however. For those of you who don’t know, there is something called _homoromanticism._ It deals with the attraction to the same sex/gender romantically, and NOT _sexually._ Stephen Hillenburg stated that he viewed his characters as “somewhat asexual”. Notice the _somewhat._ (He didn’t sound all that sure; some people speculate he said this as to not bring sexuality into the show, which makes perfect sense.)
This brings a lot to the table - Some sponges are asexual (meaning they can produce children without a partner), and those are biological terms. And then there’s the other definition of asexual dealing with the lack of desire for a sexual relationship. Either or both of these could’ve been what Mr. Hillenburg meant. Either way, there’s a door open for SpongeBob to have romantic attractions. Consider how he thought fondly about his and Sandy’s “marriage”; clearly there was an attraction to her. He even developed romantic feelings for a Krabby Patty (which he attached the female gender to). THIS is why I firmly believe that SpongeBob is _biromantic._ He is attracted to both genders the same. Or maybe he is panromantic, and gender doesn’t matter to him.
Just think about it - the same mouth that asked Mr. Krabs, “Am I a pretty girl?” is the same mouth that told Sandy “You may not have noticed, but I is one-hundred percent ma-MALE.” And let’s not forget the _Now That We’re Men_ song, sung by the same sponge who dressed up as a woman to initiate a practice date for Squidward. At the end of the day, SpongeBob certainly acts a little gay, whether he is or not.
Whatever you believe, you can not deny him being on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum, because that “A” stands for asexual. So yes, SpongeBob can celebrate Pride Month as not just an ally, but a _member._ 🏳️🌈
