I served on CA-148 USS Newport News 74-75. Last crew before decommissioned. I'm pretty sure that Salem was down in Portsmouth Virginia, shortly after it was decommissioned while CA-148 was still 2nd fleet flag ship. R division crew went to Salem and dismantled a sheetmetal brake from the ship fitter shop and re-installed on NN. Got a kick out of seeing the yards in Quincey. My second ship, LPD1, was being refitted at General Dynamics ship yard right where the video shows the entrance. All so familiar all these years later. At the time they had the Goliath crane at that yard. Was being used to construct huge LNG tanker. I think it may have been the world's largest crane at the time.
