I just replaced my dead 7 year old Cabrio with a DTW720 in the Diamond Gray. I was able to do 4 loads in this machine in about the time it took to do 2 in the Cabrio which always had balance issue's. Put a really sweat stained bed pillow in it today and it came out snow white. I just read the manual and load it like it says. So happy to have this machine. When my dryer dies, I'm getting the matching dryer! Thank you GE!!!!
I used to work with appliances and as long as you know exactly how to use a top load HE they work perfectly. Yes the electric boards on them can go out but that’s the case with about any electronic these days. Besides, any brand new washer you get anymore doesn’t have a true agitator in it it’s basically just a pole in the middle so you don’t get your clothes all knotted up from not putting them around the outside. HE machines are great.

Except for the Speed Queen TC5 series which have their traditional transmission, agitator and deep fill, which I will be buying soon and which will probably last me the rest of my life as I'm 53 now and they're designed to last 25 years...which is just about as long as my current washer, a Whirlpool I bought in 1999 has lasted. The only repair in all that time it has needed is replacing the agitator dogs which I did myself about 3 years ago in about 30 minutes. I will thankfully never have to mess with HE washers and their ridiculously long wash times. The TC5 can clean a whole load in 30 minutes which is just about the same as my Whirlpool, in other words it can do at least 2 loads by the time this GE is finishing 1 load. How taking over an hour to do a single load is considered efficient is beyond me. Water is much, much cheaper than electricity where I live and it's abundantly available. Water costs me about 21 dollars a month using my supposedly less efficient machine now. I do most of my drying on a 4 wire clothesline out in my back yard and the sun and wind are free. I only use the dryer in inclement weather or in mid winter when the highs are below freezing.
What is the benefit of an infuser over an agitator? Any why does GE rate it as larger (5.2 vs 5.0) when you can’t load anything in the center where the agitator would had been?
Oh so I have to 'specially' load this thing for it to work right? Other machines don't require any 'special' loading! @@geappliances Water here is cheap and plentiful. I couldn't give a damn about using less water when I can do 2 loads and have a 3rd load started before one of these new machines can finish a single load. Electricity is much more expensive than water so it's much more cost effective to use a washer that uses more water with faster cycle time. Not all of us live out west, in fact I have relatives that work at GE, more relatives retired from GE all of which work or worked at appliance park in Louisville, KY and even they say they'd never buy one of these inefficient modern HE style washers. To me efficiency means a single rinse cycle, an agitator that actually turns over the clothes several times during the wash cycle and a complete cycle time of 30 minutes or less, a 700 rpm spin cycle is more than enough speed and i quite imagine it also uses less electricity than a machine spinning at 1,000rpms that has to check and recheck for a balanced load, when if you'd put the type of springs and supports inside the cabinet that Speed Queen uses no one would have to worry about a slightly unbalanced load. Other than this one issue, I love my GE 4.9 cu washer with agitator. My husband convinced me to add detergent to the smart dispense holder, but I don't like that I never see suds or the soap dispense. I guess this is all part of the concept that soapy suds are not good for your clothing. I understand that as soon as you don't see the detergent in the refill section, you should add more. I don't want to add more; I want to get rid of it all and start adding my own. (I know I can change the setting and add my own now, but I want to get rid of what is left in the washer.) I have been unsuccessful in my attempts at research, asking in different ways, to find out if there will be a message letting me know when the dispenser is empty or if I just have to guess. Since there are no suds in the wash water and I have no idea how many small, medium, and/or large washes have been used; I don't even have a guess as to how many ounces have been used. Will there be a message displayed when it is empty? Since I have never and still don't see suds, it could be empty or three fourths full. Any information would be appreciated.
Hello - May we have the model number of your washer? If you need help locating your model number, click the link below for more information: www.geappliances.com/ge/find-model-serial-number We would like to look further into this for you. BL
I have a question. In the future, could you guys perhaps make some direct drive models kinda like the GTW810 and 860 machines? I heard they spun much faster than the belt driven models and were generally better machines. Although I do ask if you do make some direct drive models, please include the deep fill feature like on your belt driven models, and make the bulky items cycle better than your 810 and 860 models! Swishing the blankets and comforters around gently will not get them clean. If you could rerelease those models with those improvements, or just new direct drive machines in general, I would love to have a machine like that. Thank you.
Thanks for getting back with us! We appreciate your suggestions and will be glad to pass along this great feedback. Thanks for taking the time to inform us of your needs which will help us in designing new products. Enjoy your weekend. -SF
Washer cleans well but almost always is unbalanced during the spin cycle, no matter how small or large the load is. Would try a washer with an agitator next time.
Hi Nancy! While we're glad to know that your washer is cleaning your clothes as expected, we're also sorry to hear that your unit is not staying balanced during the cycle. We recommend making sure that your unit is properly leveled, as an unleveled washer might have a higher chance of unbalanced loads. You can learn more about leveling your unit by referring to your owner's manual. We hope this information was helpful, and please reach out to us once more if we can provide further assistance. Worst washing machines EVER. Today it tried to wash my comforter in one inch of water even with deep fill and heavy soil and comforter setting on. Needless to say it didn't work and cancelled it.
Oh n HE detergent is pathetic! Washer starts to stink after 3 months from new. Now I use Kirkland brand powder (Costco) or Sun Brand in the bucket. Both work well if you add to bottom of tub b4 washing. Melts better n circulates better! Over a year n NO MILDEW SMELL!

My current washer is a Whirlpool I bought in 1999 and my next will be a Speed Queen TC50003WN as it has all the features of old school washing machines with the bleach dispenser in the corner, the fabric softener dispenser in the top of the agitator and the only option for detergent is to load it straight into the machine.

How can it possibly be done in less time when you have to pour extra water in to cover your clothes for half an hour! Why sell an extra capacity washer that adds no water to cover the load. When I wash my king comforter if I don’t add water it comes out half side still dry. You can’t dry wash clothing.
Hi Dawn, Thanks for reaching out. We'd be happy to help as best we can. Firstly, we don't recommend adding water to your washer as this can affect the unit's operation. Secondly, if you'd like to read more about a washer not having enough water, you can click here: spklr.io/6055cqET Also, most large comforters and blankets will wash properly in our washers, as long as the comforter fits below the balance ring of the washer tub and is not stuffed in the tub tightly. @@geappliances Well, the only way to get ANY clothes clean in the GE Washer that we bought is to add water! I can put three items in this washer and they still come out dirty unless water is added. We bought the 7.4 cubic foot model specifically to wash a King Sized Comforter and it does not get it clean. Deep fill is used for every cycle and there is still not enough water.
Hi there, We're quite sorry to hear that your washer is not cleaning your clothes well and understand how frustrating this must be. The Department of Energy (DOE) sets standards for washer water usage. Over the years, the amount of allowable water usage has been reduced. With washers using less water and energy, you will no longer see a wash basket full of water. Most washers are now programmed with load sensing to adjust water levels based on the cycle and load size, so the amount of water used will vary. It is not recommended to manually add more water to the washer. Some models have a Deep Fill option which adds additional water to the wash load, regardless of whether you used a manual or a load-sensing fill. We do have some troubleshooting if your washer is not cleaning your clothes well. Check out the link below. spklr.io/6052csJm We hope this helps. Best wishes. -MH
@@geappliances as stated the washer does not get clothes clean no matter how few or how many clothing items are in it. No matter how many extra rinses you turn on or if you press deep fill! Please do not reply with rubbish information again! I’m not sure if you’re aware but the whole world does not have water limitations, there are people with wells still. The only option I understand to sufficiently clean your clothing is a wringer washer that would ultimately take less time than any of yours (which need to be washed multiple times to clean them).Hopefully one manufacturer will get on board with the public and make a decent washing machine that actually cleans your clothing. We have always bought ge but no more! Your information from link sent previously provides information that is useless! Anyone with a shred of common sense would know all of the useless information already. “To improve wash performance, use the correct amount and type of detergent, load carefully, and select the right amount of water and settings for your load size. Keep the lid closed during the wash cycle. Step 1: Select the right amount and type of detergent. Follow the manufacturer’s recommended amount for your load. Pre-treat stains if needed. If your washer has an infusor or precise-fill setting, you should use HE (High Efficiency) detergent. HE detergent is a low sudsing detergent. Contrary to other applications, suds in a washing machine can reduce cleaning performance. Step 2: Loosely load the clothing into the washer basket around of the outside of the basket. Pouring and/or compacting the load can lead to poor cleaning performance and increase wrinkling and tangling. Do not wrap items around the agitator or infusor as that can lead to increased wrinkling. Step 3: Close the lid. Select the settings for your washer cycle. Several washers can select the correct amount of water. Clothing that floats in the water may not get the optimum turnover to clean properly. Keep the lid closed during the entire wash cycle.”
Hi there, We can certainly understand how frustrating this can be. If you've found that the troubleshooting information is not helpful and your clothes are still not getting clean, we recommend having a technician inspect your washing machine. I can't understand that people buy a top load washer instead of an front load washer..they work more efficiently and gently like the old style of top load washer. in Europe you can't buy a washer without a drum.
Is this the same part of Europe that has washers and dryers in their kitchen? Because if so then in the US we don’t typically have them there so we don’t have to think about putting a countertop over them or anything like that so top loads are fine here. Also I’ve never heard of a washer without a drum
I hate this machine. Even at Max for sheets and comforters, there isn’t quite enough water to cover the wash. I can’t add more items mid-wash and then increase the water level. The computer sets the level at the start and that’s your only chance. And now the detergent dispenser doesn’t work. Says ‘Tank Low’ even though it is chock full. Calling for repair. Wish I had bought a front loader.

With washers using less water and energy, you will no longer see a wash basket full of water. Most washers are now programmed with load sensing to adjust water levels based on the cycle and load size, so the amount of water used will vary. Dry spots from high speed spin My ASS! every load there’s dry spots before putting clothes Into into the drier. When this happens peeps, sniff and you will smell clothes that AREN’T CLEAN!
-SF
Thank you! You guys enjoy your weekend as well.
It would be nice if the spin speed is max 1000 RPMs like your previous direct drive models as well.
We will let the washer team know this as well. Thanks again for your interest in our GE Appliances, both past and future! -SF
Anytime! Your washers and dryers have been wonderful for my family.
All the best. - PM
My washer makes a loud irritating noise while washing... couldn't be normal. Just delivered a week ago. Water coming out after 2 washes.
Hello Shekinah Lem - thank you for contacting GE Appliances regarding your washer. We're sorry to hear it is making the noise and leaking. Please make certain the shipping material was removed. How was it resolved?
Where do I put Unstoppables in the GE Deep Fill Quiet Direct Drive model?
You put the beads in the washing machine before you load it
ge who should I pick you or whirlpool
Mine don't work either,no spin no fill only on bulk, but then it just sits there no washing action no nothing

Great Marie - we hope this helps! -NC
Marie, did the reset work?
My washer will not hold water. It just pours out the drain and then "washes" the clothes with no water.
Hello Kelsey, thanks for reaching out to us with your concerns. We will be glad to help with this washer troubleshooting and service link: products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=17418 I hope this helps! -SF
with LG, you don't need to submerge the added garment
+LGwasherFan Of course not, because after a couple years, it will be ready for the landfill anyhow.

Just to clarify, I am Bill's wife and I sent the comment.

Why does my washer stay on "SENSE," then goes to "PAUSE?" I've unplugged, replugged, lifted the lid up and down 6x, to try and reset the computer...AND NOTHING! WHY, WHY, WHY?!?!?! I've had this washer for only a 1 1/2. I did everything the right way....the way to load the clothes evenly, set the right detergent amount...what's the problem?!
Angela, We are very sorry to hear of your experience with your washer. It sounds like you have performed the trouble-shooting tips recommended. Please contact GE Factory Service at the link below: www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm?ICID=GEARsupportflyout-service
Can we get a follow-up, please? Maybe a quick thank you if it worked, or something else?

THIS
Worst washing machines EVER.
Glad those have worked well for you, Kimberley!
Enjoy your bad bearings ;)
@@DabblelyDiddly I've used old fashioned powdered Gain detergent all my life and have had no issues with bearings.
@@Rebel9668 I been beating a maytag with boil sanitize that got used with powder. When I got it the bearings were 3x louder. Just saying It can hurt the bearings. I paid 40 bucks for the machine and it lives in a basement so I just don't care LOL
How can it possibly be done in less time when you have to pour extra water in to cover your clothes for half an hour! Why sell an extra capacity washer that adds no water to cover the load. When I wash my king comforter if I don’t add water it comes out half side still dry. You can’t dry wash clothing.
Hi Dawn,
Thanks for reaching out. We'd be happy to help as best we can. Firstly, we don't recommend adding water to your washer as this can affect the unit's operation.
Secondly, if you'd like to read more about a washer not having enough water, you can click here: spklr.io/6055cqET
Also, most large comforters and blankets will wash properly in our washers, as long as the comforter fits below the balance ring of the washer tub and is not stuffed in the tub tightly. You can also take a look at this article for more details: spklr.io/6056cqEp
If you have other questions, know that you're always free to ask. -MS
Hi there,
We're quite sorry to hear that your washer is not cleaning your clothes well and understand how frustrating this must be.

We hope this helps.
Hi there,
We can certainly understand how frustrating this can be. If you've found that the troubleshooting information is not helpful and your clothes are still not getting clean, we recommend having a technician inspect your washing machine.
You can schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-432-2737 or schedule online at spklr.io/6056csKe

This machine has A LOT OF "Do Not" when it comes loading.
This machine is the worst I ever owned, we used it the 1st time Jan. 3rd & it doesn`t spin out, called for repair & it `s now Feb. & we are still waiting & have to wring out cloths by hand, so upset!
Dump it in and let it rip

I will keep my good old ge filter flo washer I stead of buying his new machine technology.
Now that is a dinosaur. We still have folks asking for the filter flo.
Those old filter flo washers were great! They REALLY washed and rinsed your clothes!!
+Harold Fannin hand scrub your clothes before washing in this new, internet able,HE,washer and then it works great..
you just got to know how to use this GE HE! AND its internet capable
I can't understand that people buy a top load washer instead of an front load washer..they work more efficiently and gently like the old style of top load washer.
in Europe you can't buy a washer without a drum.
I think it's a personal preference, but both are great in our opinion ;)
Is this the same part of Europe that has washers and dryers in their kitchen? Because if so then in the US we don’t typically have them there so we don’t have to think about putting a countertop over them or anything like that so top loads are fine here. Also I’ve never heard of a washer without a drum
Who has time to neatly stack the clothes. That’s a little annoying
Remove the removable agitator
Get a speed Queen
Yeah speed Queens are good
I hate this machine.
Hi there,
Thanks for taking the time to reach out about your washer. Sorry to hear about the frustrations and issues you've had with it here. We did want to clarify and say that the Department of Energy (DOE) sets standards for washer water usage. Over the years, the amount of allowable water usage has been reduced. With washers using less water and energy, you will no longer see a wash basket full of water. Most washers are now programmed with load sensing to adjust water levels based on the cycle and load size, so the amount of water used will vary.
We don't recommend that you manually add more water to the washer. Some models have a Deep Fill option which adds additional water to the wash load, regardless of whether you used a manual or a load-sensing fill.
If your tank claims that it's low even though you've recently added detergent, then you've made the right call in reaching out to our service team for further help. We're confident that our technicians will diagnose and repair your washer as quickly as they're able.
Thanks again for your ongoing patience. If you have other questions, feel free to send us a PM on Facebook or a DM on Twitter with a copy of your comment here for reference.

Saying basket sounds cheap say tub not basket
Clean the washer
Dry spots from high speed spin My ASS! every load there’s dry spots before putting clothes Into into the drier. When this happens peeps, sniff and you will smell clothes that AREN’T CLEAN! These washers are the worst invention ever. From now on, I will use my washer as a planter for my palm tree, and hand wash my clothes in the FILLED bathtub. If everyone washed their clothes by their HE machine, then filled a bathtub and put your so called clean clothes in the tub to soak for a few hours, instead of the drier, you will see how filthy your clothes are out of the washing machine, you will be shocked!
The rebalancing is the biggest problem . What a waste of water and time . Loads come out soaking wet all the time

I hate HE washers!!!!!!!! They suck!!!!!!!!!! Not worth the money at all!!!!! I'm putting this peace of shit in storage and buying a real washer that will wash my clothes like they suppose to be washed!!!!
ALL "HE washers" SUCK! Either shredding your clothes, or leaving them dirty! ALL ANYTHING is junk these days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THANK YOU !
Soozi inCa i rather get a front load washer
Soozi inCa so true
This washing machine is awful especially with blanket because without the agitator there is nothing to keep the clothing against the side of the barrel and the items spread over the center then it becomes unbalanced and the washer vibrates across the floor
You’re just saying that bc you don’t know how to use it. Also bc you like to live in the medival Roman times.
terrible product - does not clean my wash
Horrible spin cycle . Horrible
I will never purchase a GE product again. My GTW460ASJWW purchased 8-9-16 is different from the same model number here. Clothes ruined, elastic stretched on under garments, sheets torn, towels frayed and more, and all come out wrinkled. Wash in their dirt unless I run a speed wash first. Whoever or what claiming energy efficiency must not wash clothes. Efficient to the point clothes are still dirty or ruined. Concern for dryer efficiency only. Wring those clothes ruined so dryer runs efficiently. You Have fun in flu season or if household has an infection or surgery. Garment industry dream as you must keep repurchasing clothing.
