@@hali_55 to her? Elena being used as a blood bag, drained of her blood for Klaus then gets hit by Klaus & gets a cerebral hemorrhage & starts bleeding from the brain when Meredith is forced to use vampire blood on her, which doesn’t help because she then dies the same way her parents died by drowning all because she was involved with the wrong people (the Salvatore brothers). Her whole life gets ruined the whole series. Don’t forget what happens at the end of (spoilers) Season 6 where the good guys finally lose for once. So many things happen to Elena & the others but it never matters to anyone because she’s not Bonnie. It doesn’t make sense to me.
@ no one is saying Elena hasn’t been through anything, she obviously has like most of the characters on the show. But it’s also the case that she mostly manages to escape threats unscathed and that’s the opposite for Bonnie. It’s also true that the show focuses on Elena’s pain in a way it doesn’t despite Bonnie going through equally shit times and occasionally even worse. SPOILERS: S1 Bonnie is almost killed AND her grams is killed S2 Bonnie again is almost killed (though she barely appears in the season until a witch is needed) S3 her mum is killed/turned into a vampire S4 she dies S5 her dad is killed, she’s turned into an anchor forced to feel the pain of every spn death & then she dies again. S6 trapped with a psycho and then left alone for months & almost driven to suicide Granted I don’t remember most of s7 & 8 other than the poisoning and Enzo being killed. And yes, Elena has been through it too, she’s lost a lot of people but when it comes to things happening TO her, the only 2 consequential things are her being turned into a vampire which she hated & the sleep spell in s6. And again, there’s no levity with Bonnie where there is with Elena.
i feel like katherine still being alive was very in character. she survived al,pst 500 hrs of klaus running after her and constantly avoids death bc she’s sneaky, selfish and resilient
Jeremy having to lie about faking his own death and setting his house on fire because of the drugs has me gone. He is definitely the small town gossip story for the week. 💀
But isn’t that what happened to Elena when her parents drowned? Also what happened to Matt when Elena drowned? & what happened to Damon when Alaric died in front of him & when Rose died in front of him? Also what happened to Caroline when her father turns & refuses to stay a vampire? Also Elena again when Isobel (her mother btw) burns herself in front of her? Also Stefan when he sees Damon kill Lexi but couldn’t do anything about it? Also Jeremy when his girlfriend Vicki dies in front of him but he couldn’t stop Stefan from doing it? & the list goes on.
@ well obviously but clearly I’m only talking about Bonnie here cause she goes through a lot if not more than anyone else in the show and most of it being because the writers didn’t care about Bonnie as a character and was racist to Kat who plays Bonnie so 🤷♀️
@@azgardians I don't think she necessarily goes through more than anybody else, but they didn't develop her at all (up until now), barely give her any material and just use her as a plot device (and sometimes even a forced plot device). If they focused on her friendships, family, personal struggles, a proper relationship then ppl would see her have happy moments too, instead of making her self sacrificial all the time. So when they have her show up only to sacrifice and lose - no wonder that is all ppl remember/associate with her. I think Stefan goes through the most pain, seemingly never-ending with bits of happiness sprinkled in. But at the end of the day, it's not a competition in suffering. Bonnie deserved more as a character though (on the personal front).
You could say the same about Caroline’s dad who died like one or two episodes before they “killed off” Bonnie’s mom but obviously her mother turns. This show tends to do that
@@ricka5714 I'm not so sure I understand that because if you're feeling physical pain (even with the switch off) wouldn't you still want it to stop? It is not like they enjoy pain. The only thing it would do is turn his emotional pain off - I guess that would help because he has hope but is continuously disappointed.
25:41 no fr I fear stefan is just stronger than us because there’s no way I would’ve not flipped that shit instantly, drowning for 3 MONTHS?? I did some math, if it took him 10 minutes to drown each time, he died over 13000 times 💀💀
I mean he did just see Lexi minutes before drowning the first time. So he likely knew that if he turned it off that he would’ve disappointed Lexi on the other side. Just my guess but idk

The amount of times I've thought and said "Poor Bonnie" throughout the course of the show 🤦🏼♀️😔💔 It's so clear how much the writers hated her (and the actress). Also poor Stefan. I always thought drowning would be one of the worst ways to die and having to drown over and over again without dying is literally torture. I love how thinking about Damon and Elena, arguably the two people he loves the most, are the ones keeping him sane and with his humanity on. Meanwhile, Damon went from killing Jeremy and not caring to saving his life! And the scene with Matt, Rebekah and Nadia is insane but so hot 🔥 Silas is immortal but not a vampire. Though he does have common vampire traits: He drinks blood, doesn't age, can compel people, read minds, get inside people's heads & make them see things and is much stonger than a human. But he teleports instead of running really fast like vampires do. Also, Nina is the queen of playing different characters but Paul is so underrated! "Damon, how well do you know your brother? Do you really think he would leave town for 3 months without so much as a phone call so you could live happily ever after with the love of his life?" Silas has a point. "No one's ever taken the cure before. If I die, there's a good chance I may never wake up." "And that would be tragic." 🤣 "If I have to hear doppelgänger one more time, I think I'm gonna have to learn how to spell it." Damon speaking for all of us 🤣 Fun facts: I Know What You Did Last Summer is of course the name of the movie, in which the screenplay (based on the 1973 novel by the same name by Lois Duncan) was written by TVD co-creator and S1 & 2 writer Kevin Williamson. Nina and Ian broke up in between S4 & S5 and as good of actors as they are, I personally felt how their chemistry changed (even in S4 tbh). And you didn't recognise Hayley Kiyoko aka Lesbian Jesus as Megan! 😔 (Though to be fair, she does look a lot different). She's a singer/songwriter who's released two albums and actress who's been in Disney's Lemonade Mouth, Jem and the Holograms, Insidious: Chapter 3, XOXO, Wizards of Waverly Place, CSI: Cyber and Five Points.
My heart just breaks for Bonnie and Stefan fr, two selfless characters that suffer the most outta anybody. Stefan drowns all summer long and no one knows Bonnie is dead than her father is killed in front of her and the town! Smh. They both deserve so much more.
@@Sandy-k4k4v I know, wasn’t Caroline suppose to be his bff and maybe text him or get a tex from him? I know he was leaving town and I understand him not wanting to talk to Elena or Damon, but Caroline? Weird that everyone ignores how she did not cared to figure out that something was happening to her bff?
@@Gitana-d7f Exactly! I love Caroline but she definitely should've checked to see if her friend was okay, especially knowing how sad he was finding out Elena chose Damon. Also Elena only emailing Bonnie but not finding it strange how she went all summer long not face timing her or at least talking on the damn phone. Lmao and Damon also disappointed me because regardless of what is going on between you and Stefan, that is still your little brother. Who Stefan loves the most outta anybody, even more than Elena. So it's just crazy no one thought to truly check up on them, when both of them put everyone over themselves time and time again.
@@Gitana-d7f She told Elena (in front of the college) that she should give Stefan some space because of what he went through. I am sure she would reach out had she thought something was wrong. She just thought he needed time. And they were busy prepping for college. Either that or a writing error -which is unsurprising. They wanted Stefan drowning for 3 months.
@@RobloxMomma92 All those examples were silly, I agree. But more than love for his brother I think Stefan carries misguided guilt. He is gaslit the whole show to think everything that happened with Damon (starting from his transition) is his fault. There is trauma and co-dependency there, at Stefan's own detriment. He thinks it is his responsibility to "fix" Damon, which is really sad and false, and ultimately ruins his life.
If Damon cared for Stefan he wouldn't be after his gf (even whilst Stefan was separated from Elena to save his life). Expecting a phone call from such a person (after causing them immense pain) would be too much.
Jeremy walking in on damon and elena making out makes me laugh every time. He can never catch a break when they’re around lmao. This is the second time he’s done this now. 😭
“Open your eyes, Jer. You do not get to die on me, you hear me? I'm supposed to be taking care of you, you little punk!” Damon coming to Jeremy’s rescue and hugging him was so sweet. He cares so much for Jeremy. It’s nice to see how much their bond has developed from the start.
@@ashhhole13 Even those two are debatable, depending on what's in it for him. If you "love" someone then how are you so capable of hurting them (eg killing Jeremy and Lexi).
I wonder if checking in on drowning Stefan at the quarry is our new "constant scenes at the Mystic Grill." On the plus side, we've added the dorm room as a new set piece, so that adds some variety. I have no idea where this season is going, but it's definitely going somehwere. Also, great to a W for Matt.
Speaking of Caroline being ,,dumped" by Tyler... I will never be mad at Tyler for choosing to avenge his mother over her. She wanted Tyler to be a normal college student with her after Klaus murdered his mom, why everyone forgets that? (Especially knowing what happens later, this comes very hypocritical of her, not spoiling). She was too much in a mood about getting dumped but she wasn’t even loyal. Let’s not forget in Tyler’s absence she: begged Klaus for a prom dress (Tyler risked his life to dance with her but the moment is ruined by her wearing Klaus’s dress); invited Klaus to her graduation (but Tyler can’t even attend his own graduation); helped Klaus when Silas ,,attacked" him... Tyler shouldn't be seen as the bad one, especially when we only see things just from Caroline's pov...
Two words - fan service. Klaus tells her - if I die, you and your friends die with me, which is why she helps him with the Silas thing. And it will be Caroline who will tell Tyler that they're done if he walks out on her again, which is fair. Tyler can do what he wants - but he can't expect them to be in a relationship when he is never there, and has a death wish. They need to let each other go.
@@jayjay22-11 And what are you on about? You support a romanticised abusive relationship where the guy kills the girl's bro over rejection, and will try it again. Kills her friend too as well as SA her. She cannot break it off without hiding all her loved ones first, especially Jeremy. The girl has Stockholm syndrome. I can understand a stelena shipper judging this, but you have no room for it whatsoever. Romanticised abuse should be right up your alley.
I'm actually sad that I'm all caught up it's already over halfway done 😢 but ngl the bonnie thing never stopped she really should've listened to grams and said fuck all of them bc yeah it continued to get worse and the worse was just trifling
Nina’s little excitement moments in this episode- the skipping approaching the school with her laundry basket or the shoulder shimmy- are so cute and telling of who Elena is when she doesn’t have a mountain of grief or impending doom by Originals burying her. I truly enjoy having this moment of levity for her. As for “Damon didn’t contact Stefan/ notice he was missing, how daren’t he”- Stef told Damon he wasn’t unhappy for him, just needed some space, and then was leaving for (undetermined atm but) Portland. And this was after Stefan suggested the deal where whomever Elena didn’t choose leave town and Damon was ready to go in early S4 until the Hunter threat and Cure hunt delayed him. In the brothers’ years of being alive, they were out of contact from 1865-1912, 1912-1942, (gaps I won’t be spoiling), and 1994-2009. Granted, most of the time they left on really bad terms, but Damon didn’t have all that much cause to worry after 3 months where there weren’t any ripper newspaper articles. That being said, you will see how he deals with the guilt of that and the imposing need to find Stefan immediately now that he knows, and you’ll find out if the roles were ever reversed (if Damon ever needed help from Stefan that didn’t come, or came too late in a different package; actually, the gang not noticing things they should about their friends- Bonnie’s dead! plus more to come- is also something revisited quite a bit this season). As to Stefan’s drowning, it is horrifying and tragic, and it’s impressive he never switched off his humanity (it is a weird echo of Silas’ own thousands of years dessicated, or the Tomb vampires’ much shorter period, although at least they weren’t repeatedly drowning, dying, reviving). Tyler wasn’t being a bad boyfriend for not being able to settle back down to college after his past couple years. He was gone for parts of his junior and senior years, one large chunk because Caroline told him she had no patience for him when he was a new werewolf (after he hesitated to save her from Brady’s werewolves), the next to torture himself endlessly (not unlike Stefan’s drowning here actually) so that he could be safe and reliable for her. And then he came back, and she’d softened toward Klaus, who went on to kill his mother. So, sure, Klaus can say “he can come home now” but how does Tyler know Klaus won’t change his mind and bop up to visit Caroline then finish him anyway? How does Tyler go back to life as it was, when he’s lost both his parents in two years and any and all sense of belonging with his hybrid pack (he was formerly a jock- he can’t do school athletics as a hybrid vamp). He’s sacrificed plenty of time and comfort for Caroline- why does he need to be in college (when he’s an immortal who could do it later) for her right now? The moment with Rudy Hopkins is absolutely devastating. It is Silas’ petty revenge on Bonnie for defying him- he spent time in their house, he knows she’s stuck on the Other Side dead if he’s running free, so he makes her helplessly watch her father’s death and blame herself for it (right after her dad mentioned her). It is one of many reasons to hate him, although it honestly doesn’t have enough of an echo in the show beyond Kat’s great performance in this scene. As to why Silas wants Katherine… one of Bryce’s guesses was dead on center. As to the matter of doppelgängers, Klaus and Elijah knew a predecessor to Katherine and Elena, who they both held affection for- it was that doppelgänger whose blood Esther used to make the Originals (and bind Klaus’ hybrid side). Stefan might have had doppelgänger magic in his human blood, but it wouldn’t have been the type that was key to the plots we’ve seen so far. That being said, Damon does need to learn how to spell doppelgänger because it is a major part of this season’s plot. ETA: Rob was right about the “no one calls” dig- which is a silly one. And Silas’ teleportation was all done mentally in his victims heads while changing his very appearance. But also bravo to Jer’s hunting perks and ghost-seeing perks- his skill set is under appreciated and I feel so bad for him having to go back to that school.
Caroline didn't tell Tyler "she had no patience for him" lmao - he watched strangers torture her and want to kill her and stood by doing nothing, after all her help with his transformations. Who did have patience if it wasn't Caroline whilst risking her life to be there through his pain? He hasn't "sacrificed" plenty for Caroline - going through those transformations repeatedly benefitted him as well, and is the only way for them to be in a relationship (which he says he wants). It isn't about Tyler having to do anything - but if you cannot physically be together then that is not a relationship. They need to let each other go.
@Sandy-k4k4v I’m traveling, I don’t have the exact wording of Caroline telling Tyler she doesn’t care anymore as he apologizes at her door post-Brody situation. He didn’t watch strangers torture her- he showed up while held by Stefan as collateral for a hostage exchange for Caroline, and found her in the cage and let her out after a moment’s hesitation. Then followed her out of the trailer where there was a fight going on, and Jules grabbed her and he didn’t attack Jules. At no point in that scene did he take concrete sides, because he had found out in the course of 24 hours that Caroline had known Mason was dead and withheld it from him for at least a month and he was finally meeting other werewolves- they had a Romeo & Juliet story going on. She did have patience for him during that first month, I’m not denying her compassion there (as a fan of Tyler and Jeremy’s dynamic at the start of the season- which to be fair was also complicated with secret-keeping- I do wish they had still been allowed to have scenes instead of focusing solely on the Beremy and Forwood scenes after the Masquerade, but I do understand there were time limitations on episodes). But after he was sire bound (not even because he had positive feelings toward Klaus- his literal nature as a hybrid demanded it) she made no allowances for it while entertaining Klaus’ flirtations (yes, some of the time that was for her friends’ plans at Stefan’s direction)- and then demanded that Tyler fix it. Did Tyler benefit from breaking the sire bond? Philosophically, yes, free will is important. But he lost a few months with his loved ones, and was thereafter inhabited by Klaus (and threatened), Caroline and his relationship worsened with the distance (emotional and physical) and his autonomy led to the killing of his pack and his mother (his last living relative) by Klaus. Caroline and their friends got “more” out of it in the concrete sense than he did. So yes, it’s fine for Caroline to enjoy her graduation, and start of college, but Tyler still has every reason to not be able to fall back into that normalcy. And that’s what the guys were commenting on, without sympathy for his situation, and I was responding to their commentary. He has sacrificed for Caroline. He was willing to die with the rest of Klaus’ sire-line when they thought Caroline wasn’t part of it. And I would be supportive of a scenario where they have the healthy discussion and realize that their relationship can’t seem to work at this point. But I don’t believe Caroline is a victim of Tyler being a flake or flameout or deadweight. And I do think she shows a stunning lack of compassion for his situation as this season will progress as well as little accountability, and she and Stefan’s future treatment of Tyler (on two separate occasions) is telling of why I think their supposed moral high-ground is under sea level- like, it’s not Marianas Trench level bad, but um… Stefan could spend a summer drowning in it.
@@SLift-mn8hi He knew she was tortured all day, and still hesitated to free her, and then watched Jules hold a gun to her back, with the intention of killing her and he didn't even protest. Matty Blue Eyes is taking a well-deserved vacation. And doing naughty naughty things !!!!! Little Gilbert is truly alive and back and reunited with Elena. And Elena ? For the first time like in forever, she's happy. Ecstatically happy. Girl is beaming and skipping in joy. After ages, she's stress-free. Grief-free. Danger-free. And above all, guilt-free. And openly and unihibitedly in love with Damon. And its glorious to see. And Damon ? And Damon , for the first time in his life, is the chosen one. The loved one. And he too is revelling in the marvel of it all. That his unflinching, unwavering love for Elena is now being reciprocated so wholeheartedly. And its glorious to see. Hey....all my favourites are happy. And that makes me happy.
@ jayjay22-11 ….. same , same 😊😊 It’s so wonderful to see Elena so happy and carefree ….. and be the regular teenager that she actually is. Damon brings out the fun and the joyous spirit in her. Also wonderful to see Damon’s happiness. The guy deserves all the love and acceptance from Elena that he is finally getting.
Elena's brain was sired and now we're in the retcon part of the show. But luckily we won't have to watch it for long. And ppl do remember what happened. As for Damon - pining over your little bro's teen gf, waiting to be "chosen" by her instead of getting a life of your own for once is extremely sad. Out of all the women in the world he is after the ones who love Stefan. At least the romanticized abuse is consistent. It is "love" for sure.
I dont really blame Damon and Elena for not talking up Stefan. After all it was just 3 months. And its not like they would suspect that something could be amiss. Silas was dead. All Stefan was going to do, was get rid of the body .... and be away for a brief while as per their earlier agreement. Thats it. Damon snd Elena were finally together. They were so in love and so lost in each other. Totally understandable. It just sucks for Stefan that Silas rose unexpectedly in this manner. And then be made to suffer repeated torture in the water.Truly truly sucks. Terrible. And how horrific was it for Bonnie to see what Silas did to her father?? Poor poor Bonnie. And poor Tyler. He deserved more sympathy and understanding from Caroline. After all, he did love her. And did repeatedly break his bones to free himself from Klaus. Only to lose his mother. Ofcourse he'd want revenge. But as usual, all Caroline can think of is herself and her feelings.

But it’s also the case that she mostly manages to escape threats unscathed and that’s the opposite for Bonnie. It’s also true that the show focuses on Elena’s pain in a way it doesn’t despite Bonnie going through equally shit times and occasionally even worse.
SPOILERS:
S1 Bonnie is almost killed AND her grams is killed
S2 Bonnie again is almost killed (though she barely appears in the season until a witch is needed)
S3 her mum is killed/turned into a vampire
S4 she dies
S5 her dad is killed, she’s turned into an anchor forced to feel the pain of every spn death & then she dies again.
S6 trapped with a psycho and then left alone for months & almost driven to suicide
Granted I don’t remember most of s7 & 8 other than the poisoning and Enzo being killed.
Long live Katherine Pierce aka Katerina Petrova.

The ring doesn't work on Jeremy because he is technically still a hunter. That is why he gave his ring to Matt.
Idk why but I literally can't remember what happens during this season. But I remember that season 6 is awesome, so I can't wait for that.
season 6 is the best
I’m so exited for season 6
Same, most of the time that I rewatch I skip s5
The degree to which Bonnie is tormented in this show is RIDICULOUS, she CANT catch a break
15:15 Bryce, Zuff, and rob are so over Katherine atp and I can’t blame them since I feel the exact same way tbh. 😭
bonnie seeing her dad get killed in front of her and not being able to do anything god this show never wants to see her happy ☹️
@ well obviously but clearly I’m only talking about Bonnie here cause she goes through a lot if not more than anyone else in the show and most of it being because the writers didn’t care about Bonnie as a character and was racist to Kat who plays Bonnie so 🤷♀️
@@packedentertainment2866 Louder for the people in the back!!
At all…. Happy & Bonnie don’t go together!! She’s chop liver on the show.
There was literally no need for them to kill off her dad. They just wanted bonnie to suffer more
You could say the same about Caroline’s dad who died like one or two episodes before they “killed off” Bonnie’s mom but obviously her mother turns. This show tends to do that
Shock value.
@@packedentertainment2866 Caroline’s dad was kinda awful tho

@@ricka5714 I'm not so sure I understand that because if you're feeling physical pain (even with the switch off) wouldn't you still want it to stop? It is not like they enjoy pain.
The only thing it would do is turn his emotional pain off - I guess that would help because he has hope but is continuously disappointed.
@@Sandy-k4k4v kinda, but you wouldn't have hope or despair, just physical pain. Additionally, you wouldn't care so it is easier to deal with the pain.
Even if he turned the switch off he would still feel the physical pain of drowning repeatedly. Ugh what an absolute horrific experience.

Poor Bonnie, she always gets the short end of the stick 😭😭
The amount of times I've thought and said "Poor Bonnie" throughout the course of the show 🤦🏼♀️😔💔 It's so clear how much the writers hated her (and the actress). Also poor Stefan. I always thought drowning would be one of the worst ways to die and having to drown over and over again without dying is literally torture. I love how thinking about Damon and Elena, arguably the two people he loves the most, are the ones keeping him sane and with his humanity on. Meanwhile, Damon went from killing Jeremy and not caring to saving his life! And the scene with Matt, Rebekah and Nadia is insane but so hot 🔥
Silas is immortal but not a vampire.
If I die, there's a good chance I may never wake up."
"And that would be tragic." 🤣
"If I have to hear doppelgänger one more time, I think I'm gonna have to learn how to spell it." Damon speaking for all of us 🤣
Fun facts:
I Know What You Did Last Summer is of course the name of the movie, in which the screenplay (based on the 1973 novel by the same name by Lois Duncan) was written by TVD co-creator and S1 & 2 writer Kevin Williamson.
They sure do.
They keep milking tf out of Katherine. They should have ended her storyline ages ago.
5:11 Matt having the best summer🥲☀️
Stefan left but Damon could've called him. They weren't in a fight this time. It's been 3 months. Poor Stefan😥
He probably felt weird to do that he was basically with his ex and maybe he was giving stefan time to come around himself

Hey Jesse! It feels like a party everyday....
Let’s not forget in Tyler’s absence she:
begged Klaus for a prom dress (Tyler risked his life to dance with her but the moment is ruined by her wearing Klaus’s dress); invited Klaus to her graduation (but Tyler can’t even attend his own graduation); helped Klaus when Silas ,,attacked" him...
Tyler shouldn't be seen as the bad one, especially when we only see things just from Caroline's pov...
Spot on
Two words - fan service.

Upcoming ep 'The cell' ☠️
If the witch didn't show up she'd be dead along with the bros. I don't care what Caroline knew - she kept it from him to keep him safe (from Damon). Tyler did nothing after everything she did to help him. Of course she would be pissed off and tell him they're no longer friends.
It was still for his benefit mostly. Freedom and free will is everything. Otherwise he cannot have a life of his own or a relationship. Klaus did that to him, not Caroline.
Caroline lacks compassion for someone who cannot even communicate? And is being flakey? If he cannot communicate then there is no relationship. Period. He has gone through horrific things but their relationship is non existent and Caroline is the only one holding on. You can't come in and out as you please and expect things to be ok. They need to end it because it's not working, and maybe if he answers his phone then they could have that conversation.
As for Caroline and Stefan - everyone reacts from their own pov, when the time comes. They were the ones who vouched for him and tried to keep him alive when others didn't give a shit. Also there is no "moral high-ground" here as each person will realise their mistakes, they don't need to be a punching bag for it.

Originials is especially all over the place constantly has something foing on, and storylines for eberybody to tackle, literally the characteters hardly ever have a lets just chill day even more than them on tvd.
8:11 LMFAOOO THE SYNCH YALL HAD. I replayed it like 6 times.
“Something bad did happen to me… you fell in love with my brother”

"Matt's on a lucky streak rn" MMM abt THAT
5:11 HAHAH GO MATT (srsly tho bex and nadia are hawt)
the doppelganger theory is perf.
