I love the fact that this is the guitar you were given directly from the Gibson factory and you saw it during the making, makes the tutorial even cooler
Finger picking is a very long, frustrating and drawn out skill to develop but it's well worth putting in the hours of practice trust me... I can finger pick using the standard travis picking pattern very well now as well as a couple of other picking patterns and i'm so glad i pushed myself to become competent at it where now I can just walk into a music shop pick up a guitar and if i don't have a pick on me and i'm too lazy to walk up to the counter and ask if i can use one for a few minutes, I just use the picks that god gave me now =P But bottom line, finger picking is a very tough skill and it takes a long time to train your fingers to be at a reasonably good level, but the reward is huge when you can do it really well. the thing about big name finger players is they often fail to mention how long it took them to actually feel like they were getting anywhere with it, let alone go and record albums and perform live. Start by just incorporating 10 minutes of it each day into your practice routine. after a good month you will notice a difference. And what you said about Marty pushing you, (Yes he does tend to do that god bless him =), but don't sit around and wait for others to push you along, always be looking to push YOURSELF. that's where you will see the biggest breakthroughs in your playing.
Always fancied learning fingerpicking properly on my electric but it’s not easy if you’ve always been used to a pick. first song I ever tried this on was stairway to heaven. Great lesson Marty.
i know im asking randomly but does any of you know a way to log back into an instagram account?? I stupidly forgot the login password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me!
@Warren Ricardo Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Man, Marty is a real G. Never had any lessons since I was 5 and I'm doing Great. Turning 14 soon and I'm Rocking. Thanks for all your help over the years man. ❤️❤️❤️
Marty, please so a tutorial Roses for the Dead, by funeral for a friend, it’s 15 years since the album came out, during this lockdown thanks to you I have started learning and playing guitar.
Great great great! I dig. Thx man! The settings on the amp? How to fit in a rectifier pedal? Overdrive is a killer and works overall. But rectifier can turn into screaching with open chords. However in a solo it can make harmonics more accessible. So u may hit the pedal while soloing right and cut it and go back to strumming. Then tremolo of course - works just fine with blues. Seems to set the pace or rythm as well. This helps bcoz the rythm is so important and if u miss a bassnote it's still ringin in the background. Feel free to show that. It's also a way to change stuff up and avoid sounding like everything u do is the same. The reverb. And chorus? I don't use it cause I have no idea. Also when to avoid using effects. When a clean tone rules. Swomp technique in blues versus regular or jazzy blues? How to play dark, threatening or scary vs warm friendly and inviting. Moods. Atmosphere. Recording and adding thunder like dire straits. A hammond organ playing plus som flanger or phaser and yeah it goes on forever. Loop pedal. So many cool things. Also rythm that isnt static. When can u go faster, slowly faster? Without sounding as if u can't keep the pace? A lil bit faster in the end right? Great video thx. Hats off to ya dr M! I can now play along the backing track for money fr nthn thanks to studying your tutorial for HOURS!!Lol! Great fun!!! Thanks again!
Hi Marty. Could you please do Lazy Eye by the Silversun Pickups? If you look, no one else really does it and I know you could actually show me! I really want to learn this one.
Hey Marty can you do a tutorial on that song, you know the one, it goes like "dada dowdow dumdumeeda" something like that.. you know that one you listen to sometimes. Can you please teach that one?
@@mcnuk3nfromyt440 no, no, no. It goes like "da da dumdada deda" or .. you know its that song... the one marty listens to somtimes and a lot of his fans listen to... but not everyone likes. They sometimes play it on the radio, but not often.. you know, the one that has the cool guitar... i really wish marty will do a tutorial on it. Ill pay top dollar for someone to teach me how to play... you know, that song! Its that song, you know the one!
Hey i have a question Is it good or ok to learn Songs (for example from you) so just on TH-cam as an intermidiate guitar player? I know the things i Think an intermidiate guitar player should know (Standard chords C D E F G B Dm En Fm and more, minor and Major bar chords on E and A String, Power chords, Hammerons and Pulloffs, E A and B Blues scale, normal strum or picking patterns ...) Now i wanted to know if you can just learn new songs, strum patterns and so in with TH-cam or if it would be better to learn more Musik theory to know exactly what they Play in their Songs and so on. I mean that sometimes people just repeat what they saw in a Video or repeat the notes they see in guitar tabs but don't know what they really play. I don't know if its necessary to know more than i know till now for guitar solos or so.
I always love the gritty and rather country sound you get from this technique. It's also really easy and fun, so it's a must learn in my book!
I love the fact that this is the guitar you were given directly from the Gibson factory and you saw it during the making, makes the tutorial even cooler
Cool, thanks!
Finger picking is one of the skills I have never managed to get a handle on. Thanks for always pushing me.
