In terms of resale, you'll typically get from 65-75% selling direct on the used market either way. Which means the Epiphone will get you about $325 out of its $480 sticker. The Harley Benton will get you $125 out of $185. So you'd stand to lose a lot less money if you ever chose to sell it, buying cheaper to begin with.

Good comparison. The one I liked the best from the blind test was Y which was the non Junior. I wouldn’t be able to guess which was which, so chose the one I liked.
Nice review, I am in agreement with you, Guitar X had a better overall sound, nice clean sound, Nice crunch, great overdrive on the Guitar X. Where you using a tube screamer for the all the guitars or just Guitar X. Thank you for posting this.
X sounded more hifi/air than z and thus more yellow. Y was most yellow but the tone was less exciting. I like yellow guitars, too. Well, come to think of it, most any color works for me.
I hear ya call yourself a professional amateur... so what (or better... who..) do you think of when you hear "amateurish professional"? And yes... I heard very little difference between the three guitars, and I can't really put my finger on it, but I liked "Z" the best-est.
I went to ToastMasters for help with ahhs, ehhs, and soos in public speaking. When you practice timed speaking your co members buzz you everytime you say those [space fillers] and it teaches you to stop. Not sure about the tone test, they all sounded P-90ish, but which is best, who knows...
I never get them right but I preferred the Z. The HB does a fat neck version of this guitar too. If you were buying with a view to trading up eventually then it would have to be Epiphone but I reckon HB is an up and coming name. It’s definitely made waves in Europe and here in Ireland. Their resale value has increased since I started noticing them on 2014.
@@9unslin9er it’s two years since I wrote this and as far as Ireland goes they were up and coming as a brand then. They sell pretty well on the second hand market now compared to 2 years ago because they are now better known here. I got an SC 550 EMG last year and the out of box quality is definitely much better. I’m buying Harley Benton since 2015. They’re quality in general has come up in my opinion. Thomann seem to have a different philosophy about their in house brand compared to other online retailers. They have set up a separate Harley Benton website and a US store. While they once were exactly like other in-house brands before, (You paid your money and you took your chances ) I believe they are trying to change that. Again it’s just my opinion based on what I’ve seen so far.
I thought X was the Epi LP Jr, Y the Harley Benton (this one sounded a bit brighter to me, Harley Benton Jrs always sounded a bit on the bright side to me from every demo I've seen) and Z was a STRAT! Kinda shocked to see what Z actually is!
I guessed right!...so I'm assuming I get the epiphone as my prize...I'll get you my shipping address...I'll need it before Christmas! Hope I'm not being too pushy!
Been playing 55 years, so let's get that out of the way. They all sound basically the same. The LPSTVY does not belong since it is a 2 pickup guitar. I would then take the HB's thinner neck over the Epi's baseball bat, and I'd string with .010 - .042's. But that's just me. What you choose is entirely up to you. I have real Gibsons (5), real Fenders, real Epiphones, Squiers, Harleys, Fireflys, and a lot of everything else. They all get played, and string changing can get expensive.
I Didn't Catch That The 3rd Guitar Was An Actual Other Guitar Choice. I Thought X & Z Was The Same Epiphone, While I Thought Y Was The Harley Benton. WHOOPS!!!
The tone of all X, Y, and Z were so close that I would decide purely on playability and aesthetics.
Exactly in this order.

Tone wise, [Y] all day, every day.
See you at the Beagle to discuss! Great Story telling.
What do you mean "up and coming"? They've been around for ages. It's just Thomann's house brand, like Mitchell is Guitar Centers.
Totally disagree on resale value. Epi's have much higher depreciation than hb.
HB also makes 'Fat Neck' model.
I thought X was the Epi LP Jr, Y the Harley Benton (this one sounded a bit brighter to me, Harley Benton Jrs always sounded a bit on the bright side to me from every demo I've seen) and Z was a STRAT! Kinda shocked to see what Z actually is!
Lol I can't stop look at the Red Special picture in the background...
I love the intro HAHAHAHHA
You are hilarious dude! You remind me of Bill Murry!😂 but you have your own humor!
I guessed right!...so I'm assuming I get the epiphone as my prize...I'll get you my shipping address...I'll need it before Christmas! Hope I'm not being too pushy!
People will always say the cheaper one sounds better . They can't afford a good guitar.
Tv yellow JR’s sound better
Been playing 55 years, so let's get that out of the way.
They all sound basically the same. The LPSTVY does not belong since it is a 2 pickup guitar.
I would then take the HB's thinner neck over the Epi's baseball bat, and I'd string with .010 - .042's.
But that's just me. What you choose is entirely up to you.
I have real Gibsons (5), real Fenders, real Epiphones, Squiers, Harleys, Fireflys, and a lot of everything else. They all get played, and string changing can get expensive.
For me, Y sounded much weaker than Z or X
I Didn't Catch That The 3rd Guitar Was An Actual Other Guitar Choice. I Thought X & Z Was The Same Epiphone, While I Thought Y Was The Harley Benton. WHOOPS!!!
So umm that was a nice video..Landon's Instagram has some of the greatest pictures of guitars ever taken..
I was right and knew ghost guitar. 🙂✌🏻 i knew i knew that you gonna but tv yellow epi with those two. X and Y sound same, Z is hotter.
